McDonald's Shamrock Milkshake

Published by Toronto Mike on March 16, 2010 @ 15:27 in Miscellaneous

shamrockI used to look forward to McDonald's shamrock milkshakes at this time of year. Shamrock shakes were only available around St. Patrick's Day and had a minty sweet taste that would appeal to a 10 year old.

At some point, McDonald's stopped selling them. I'm guessing they weren't selling enough to make it worthwhile. It's too bad, I think the kids would dig them.

Here's an old ad for the shamrock milkshake, circa 1986.

They still have them here in AK! I had one last week... as well as an eggnog shake at Christmas!

That sucks you don't have them. They have a website for tracking when shakes come out here. http://www.shamrockshake.com/

Why no Shamrock Shakes in Ontario?

I hope no way. I look forward to them every year too. Getting older, as best as I can recall, I had one last year. On the drive thru line a couple of weeks ago, I asked and the lady said no. She didn't say "not yet" or "not ever". Just "no". I assumed it wasn't time yet but I had planned on getting one tomorrow. I really hope to have one. If not, it'll break a streak that I can't even remember how long it is, but easily since I was a wee lad.

I was just thinking about these the other day. Alberta seems to be experiencing a similar Shamrock Shake drought...

So I can get a Shamrock Shake in Niagara Falls NY this week? I Love them and headed there to the Aquarium!

Same reason why no Ketchup Potato chips, Coffee Crisps or Aero Bars here or Sleemans Honey Brown for that matter, we are holding Shamrock Shakes hostage until we get the above Canadian treats down here, I want Sleemans Honey Brown in our stores by Saturday or the Shamrock Shake never makes it over the Rainbow Bridge.

BBM, I can get Coffee Crisp and Aero down here in Vegas. Perhaps you need to move?

I was never all that fond of the Shamrock Shakes, but I love the arctic orange ones.

Do you remember when those were introduced way back in the day? It was the Trio Tropical promotion. Orange shakes, pineapple pies and kiwi sundaes.

Retrontario, if you are reading, see if you can find that old commercial on any of your tapes.

I posted that yesterday, Trev :) But someone reported they called McDonalds Canada and they have none in Ontario as a whole.

Just stopped on the way home from work and got my first one in years. Was pretty darn tasty.

I was wondering if you were allowed to call it MILKshake and not just a SHAKE, when I came across this..
