Maple Leafs 1, Penguins 4

leafsTied 1-1 in the second period, Alexei Ponikarovsky was awarded a penalty shot. I saw it, you saw it, it happened.

It never happened. Instead, they determined that Sergei Gonchar had scored 13-seconds earlier. There's a rule somewhere about scoring two goals on the same play, so the penalty shot was cancelled.

This, in a nutshell, is the life of a Maple Leafs fan. We're tied with the defending Stanley Cup champions and fighting tough, about to get a penalty shot, but instead the puck is dropped at centre ice and we're down 2-1.

The sad thing is, I'm rather used to it by now. Of course Wallin missed that open net! What did you expect him to do? Score?

Wallin adds nothing and lots of it to the team. Remind me why Bozak or Hanson sit in the minors? Sure they are not impact players at this point, however they are a part of the teams future and could add some young legs to the team and give them some NHL experience.

At least Reichel & Korolev (remember them?) scored once in a while.

Good Lord, this is awful.

Mike, for the first year, all three of my kids are into the Leafs. Every game (we can get) on TV is an event with chips, pop, and Go-Leafs-Go. I'm not sure if their enthusiasm will make to the end of the season when the games are this awful. If there's no hope, the Family Channel will once take over in my house.
