Humble and Fred's Dance Party on Retro Rewind

Published December 2, 2009 @ 19:34 in Edge 102 ~ CFNY, Humble and Fred

tvRogers TV Toronto (channel 10) is producing a series called "Retro Rewind" featuring some of the classic, and not so classic, moments from the community channel's history.

Tomorrow night's episode features Humble and Fred when they did a cable show called "Humble and Fred's Dance Party" around '91 1993. It mocked City-TV's popular Electric Circus and Humble and Fred had a bunch of people dancing badly to The Tragically Hip's "Courage".

It airs tomorrow at 9pm on good ol' Rogers TV. Here's a taste of the good stuff.

Does anyone out there remember Humble and Fred's Dance Party?

A Hip fan like you would know that song was a hit in '93.

Maybe Ed The Sock could make a guest appearance?

I think one of those people is Don Mitchell-- and thus is explained his unearthly hate-on for all things 102.1.

hey Wayner;
That's correct. Each station tries to be as local as possible, and the clips used in this show feature archival clips from Toronto produced shows only. (yes i work for Rogers TV)

Howard,
Wouldn't you rather forget being a second banana to a sock?

I'm still waiting for an announcement of the H&F Gift of Christmas Podcast. Hell I'm even willing to go to Peterborough or even worst Oakville to watch you guys make merry.

Aw shoot! I remember this!!! Unfortunately my condo building subscribes to Bell TV, so we don't get Rogers Cable 10.

This was actually a small segment from Humble and Fred's Cable TV Special. It featured Marty Streek spinning the 'NY Video Road Show, Dan Duran Tote Bags and performances by Corky and the Juice Pigs. I have the whole show on VHS. I'll try and get it up on Youtube in the future. By the way - this clip looks like a dance party exclusively for LAN Administrators.

I think I still have one of those shirts. I had something to do with producing this show ...and The Rob Cormier Show ...among other things.
