Toronto Radio Ratings (Now with PPM!)

Published by Toronto Mike on November 6, 2009 @ 13:27 in Radio

radioNow that we have Portable People Meter (PPM) technology, we have a better grasp of true Toronto radio ratings. Mondoville just tipped me off that David Bray has published the latest Toronto PPM figures for September 2009.

The Hamiltion based country station 95.3 is in 20th place (or, in last excepting CP24)? And there is nothing at all for Oshawa's 95.9 or the Rock? Not even a 0.1? Yet how does 97.3 EZ Rock chart so well while there's a split offering from 105.7 along the dial?

Still a little confused....

A12+ is Male and Female ages 12-25?

Is that right?

A12+ = Adults 12 yrs old and older
W25-54 - Women between 25 and 54 years of age
M25-54 - Men between 25 and 54 years of age

Interesting.

Wow, CFRB used to be a powerhouse, didn't it? Certainly fallen down pretty far.

And where is Hamilton's K-Lite 102.9's rating? It's too close by not to have registered. It would help to know where the PPM devices were spread out, or not, geographically.

Our favorite dead horse is doing better than I expected. Overall not great, but 3rd place with males 25-54 ain't too shabby.

Makes you wonder what they might improve to if they actually did focus more on the classic alternative (ie more than just the 90's), the stuff that Q107 won't play.

Look at those AM640 numbers!

Now if they could dump Adler and bring over Richards from CFRB my am dial would never need to move.

Stafford's insight, wit and skepticism is fresh breath in the halitosis that is most of AM radio in Toronto.

Oakley is also a huge talent and a great way to start the day.

Don't get the appeal of 680 reading the front page of the Star over and over. It must be the traffic updates that keep folks transfixed.

CP24 Radio is a zero. I find since the CTV take over of CP24 it is not the same. The morning show is not even watchable. I try on occasion but even with dumping Matt Bable to the "fun live guy" spot and bringing Steve Anthony down form the chopper the show is as lifeless and limp as a homeless person passed on the benches at Nathan Philips Square.

Since when is a 12 year old an adult? If the people who did the survey actually chose this classification, it is, in my view, immediate grounds for dimissing the results due to incompetance. More to the point, if PPM technology, is as they say: " ... much more in tune with today's mobile lifestyles." then it is definetly biased and therefore should be rejected since statistics should be based on random stampling.

The Edge has just taken a horriffic nose dive in quality over the last three years or so, no wonder it's ratings are dropping. I can see it crashing and burning in the next few.

Awesome ! Love Oakley and Stafford. Agree they need Jim Richards to complete their day.

John Moore sucks big time!!!!!
