Streets of Ontario, Chalk Circle Love and More Nick Charles on CFNY

Published by Toronto Mike on October 26, 2009 @ 19:52 in Edge 102 ~ CFNY, Radio

radioI like this vintage CFNY Spirit of Radio clip because it opens with a great deal of Chalk Circle love. Chalk Circle, celebrated in this clip for winning a CASBY in 1985, was the first band I ever saw live.

This Nick Charles clip closes with a promo for Streets of Ontario, a show that aired on CFNY every Sunday afternoon between 4 and 5. Streets of Ontario previewed "some of the best of the non-recording-big-time tours and all massive things like that but right down to earth independent releases".

If you're now hankering for more Chalk Circle, I've got your "April Fool" right here.

Wow...this brings back amazing memories of a station that was simply incredible. Now they are a piece of shit.

And lest we forget, Big Nick Charles, the deejay in this clip, died in 1989 at only 35 years of age.

Made me feel all warm and sunny inside. The Spirit is still alive somewhere, T-Mike.

Chalk Circle. Great underrated band. This Mourning is another 80's gem.
