Live Earl Jive Audio From the Spirit of Radio #cfny

Published by Toronto Mike on September 23, 2009 @ 17:24 in Edge 102 ~ CFNY

radioI got a tweet from @genday telling me the Spirit of the Edge on Sunday nights is out on Edge 102 / CFNY. LoriAnn's Facebook page confirms it. Spirit of the Edge live to air from Velvet Underground was really one of the last throwbacks to the days of the Spirit, but now that weekly reminder is being cut from the schedule.

Speaking of the Spirit of Radio, Live Earl Jive was on the air there on and off from 1981 until 1991. I've got some great old audio of him to take you back.

It's The Live Earl Jive hosting Thursday Night Live, a program where CFNY used to air recorded concerts. This promo mentions Men Without Hats, the Stranglers, Stray Cats and Simple Minds.

I tuned in last night to see what was replacing the Sunday night show and to my surprise it was a studio program called "The Spirit of Radio." So, there's still retro on Sunday nights and they go live to air from the velvet underground every Sunday long weekend.

I remember good times at RPM when Live Earl and the 'lovely and talented' Beverly Hills ran the show!!
