> 1000 Followers on Twitter! #sowhat?

Published by Toronto Mike on September 7, 2009 @ 20:23 in Twitter

twitterAt some point this weekend, I cleared 1000 followers on Twitter.

No, I don't actually think that means anything of significance. I'm not even sure how many of the 1000 are real followers and how many are from the "I'll follow anyone in the hopes that they'll follow me" set.

Still, it is a milestone of sorts. And I love milestones.

I'll *finally* concede defeat in our twitter follower race. You win this one, Mike...

My Twitter (@geekpride101) hovers between 17 and 20 at any given time.

One thousand followers is a big deal - I'm glad to be one of them.

Aren't you a little old for Twitter?

G, don't you read the Twitter news? Teens hate it - it's the 30 somethings who are digging the Twitter.

@G - if Toronto Mike was boasting 1,000 friends on Myspace, then I'd be a little concerned. :)

Haha, I guess I'm behind on my social networking news.

That's what happens when you become old.

My apologies

*They* say that 500 is the number to get to. It is at 500 that you will be able to ask a question and get a reply from the masses.

1,000 is A Big Deal! (at least in TwitterLand) I've only got 805 to go!

I still totally don't get this Twitter thing.

I don't even know why you would follow someone. If you are following too many people, won't you get flooded with messages? Do they come to your phone or e-mail?

I like to think of it as RSS-like in how you receive and organize your followers' tweets.

Everyone has a favourite Twitter app - mine is TwitterFox and I know many who swear by TweetDeck. On my phone, it's TwitterBerry. These 3rd party apps are where you read your stream - the tweets from your followers.

TwitterFox, how I get my tweets on my laptop, is a simple Firefox add-on.
