Great Illustration of the Blog Troll

mouseIn Don't Feed the Trolls, Shoot 'Em! I wrote about Welland Guy. Welland Guy is a blog troll who shows up periodically on this blog, HumbleHoward.com and CanadianThinker.com. I make it a point to ban his IP address from commenting on all three sites as soon as he reveals himself.

Another troll surfaced recently on all three sites, particularly on this Humble Howard entry about the upcoming podcast. Again, the troll posts anonymously, but this time it seems the venom is directed at yours truly.

This cartoon, from Unreal Tournament 2004, perfectly encapsulates the birth of a troll, the greatest blogging hazzard this side of comment spam. It's so spot on, I had to share it.

Argie isn't a troll, he's just strongly opinionated on the right side of reason.

I'll take 100 Argies over one Il Duce every day of the week.

Mike: You're making me blush....

I like how you wrote "I'm on the right side..." that would be correct.

Freudian slip? Nah, just an unfortunate typo.

Argie isn't a troll, he's just strongly opinionated and on the wrong side of reason.

Does a troll by your definition have to be anonymous?

My vote would be no. Many trolls have multiple identities, wouldn't you say?

It's the nature of a troll to remain anonymous, as illustrated in the comic above.

It wouldn't be in the best interest of a troll to use his real name. The Il Duce troll freaked out when I posted his IP address on Humble's site, because he wants total anonymity.
