Questions for Justin Pogge

Published by Toronto Mike on February 9, 2009 @ 20:42 in Toronto Maple Leafs, Toronto Marlies

LeafsI'm getting an interview with Maple Leaf goaltender prospect Justin Pogge. We're ironing out the when and where, but it's happening.

If you could ask Justin Pogge a question, what would you ask him? Here are some I'll ask him.....

  • Do you read what the press says about you? Do you have a Google Alert for your name?
  • What's your favourite tune / band / musical genre?
  • What do you really think of the current plan to bring you up for a game here and there but to send you back to the Marlies right away no matter how you play?

Threw up a link on the front page of our site for you. We'll think up some questions!

What was the explanation that Greg Gilbert gave you for going with Clemmensen in the AHL playoffs last year?

I'd ask him how he feels about being in the presence of Toronto Blogging Greatness. That and when he found out he was drafted by the Leafs did he want to a) quit hockey, b) kill himself.

I'd ask him which team he followed as a child, and which goalie was his favorite.

Should the current audition fail (mostly due to a lacklustre team playing in front of him) what would be the next best step to prove himself as an NHL calibre goaltender, should that occur? How does he build up confidence to prepare for the next Leaf game with so much on the line?

I'd ask Master Justin what role Curtis Joseph plays when Justin is in town for one of his fly-by, drop-in performances. Are they buddies?

I'd ask what he thinks of the amount of hockey that is played by young kids starting at 8 and 9 or even younger and does he think so many kids should stop playing soccer or baseball to play hockey year round? Seems to me this is all crazy but what does he think having just gone through it all and "made it"?

My interview will most likely be Friday.

Keep the questions coming!

NHL, 1 game, no mask, $10,000?

I think I'll have to increase that $10,000 figure. No NHL player would play without a mask for pocket change like that.

Who was his favourite player (and goalie if they are different) growing up?

What sport would he most like to play professionally if it wasn't hockey?

What's his favourite beer?

Does he think Tie Domi is a douche bag like the rest of Toronto?

I'd ask Pogge how much of an adjustment was it for him to come from such a dominant year with the Calgary Hitmen and the WJC, only to come into a situation with the AHL where the successes haven't been as immediate for him?

1)What does he think is the coolest thing about being part of an NHL team?
2)If he wasn't a hockey player, what does he think he would be doing for a living?
3)If 20 years from now, if there was a movie made about him, what should the title be?
