New HD Simpsons Opening

HomerTomorrow night's episode of The Simpsons will include the first full, permanent revamp of the show’s opening titles since its premiere in 1989.

The show has moved to high definition widescreen broadcasting which made this change necessary. Here's the new opening.

If I'm not mistaken it's only for one episode.

"But for all you HD nay-sayers out there, don't have a cow... it will be back in its usual 4:3 SD format by the next episode."

You have to love the image off to the side when zoomed in

I guess it depends what you believe.

Most articles I've read suggest this is the new permanent opening.

Wow.

Interesting little changes..

And dudes.. relax.. the animation changed over the years.. personally I donlt have a problem with a new HD beginning.

As a life-long devout follower of this wonderful series, part of me thinks it's time for a mercy killing anyway.

The mercy killing stages are cyclical. Sometimes it has a crappy run of things, only to come back stronger. Let them make new episodes, I suspect it will ALWAYS be on TV either way. maybe they should bring Conan back on board.
