Best. Party. Playlist. Ever.

Published January 11, 2009 @ 11:26 in Lists, Music

tunesSome* are calling this the Best. Party. Playlist. Ever. I premiered this playlist on Thursday night to rave reviews.

Keep in mind, I avoided songs with swears (although a few slipped through the cracks) and tried to appeal to the masses, thereby avoiding my mosh anthems. The objective was to get the most people on the dance floor... with most in attendance born in the 70s.

Shuffled? Really? I would think a really good playlist would need to be balanced out. You need to start out with easy, poppy stuff to get people on the dance floor. You don't want 3 slow songs in a row. That sort of thing.

Nah - the trick is to leave the slow songs off the playlist completely.

But to be completely honest, I shuffled out of laziness.

Looks good.....but you left out "I want to Rock & Roll all night" by Kiss. I know you are not a big fan but when I got married I would only hire a DJ that would play the songs that were important to me and were on my list....this was one of them and the floor was packed during that particular song.

I was worried this list was completely Hip-less! Little Bones was a great choice! Dough and Courage are both big party movers down here, too.

Nice list. We are doing the iPod self-done playlist for my friend's wedding this summer. Will have to peruse. Have to balance things out since she is having an authentic German for 2 hours too, lol.

Toronto Mike

I figured you can't go wrong with a little Brit. That Toxic is guaranteed to get the peeps on the floor.

I'm disappointed you just shuffled this...

Mike: You only need to have “Old time rock & roll” to round out this cliché ridden list of crap - IMHO.

Toronto Mike
January 12, 2009 / 14:56

Argie, that's a fantastic suggestion!

And the masses want cliche ridden crap, don't you know that?

Alison
January 12, 2009 / 19:47

I'm waiting for the day that Argie-mentative likes and or agree's with something.

It's pop music because it is popular......

that shyts wack. where the rick ross at? lil wayne dipset shyt dblock? i aint never playing no brit or rhianna shyt at my parties

Wow
June 15, 2009 / 21:44

Mike: This mix would be okay if one were 13 and going to their junior high dance. Any DJ would be fired if he tried to play this shit. You're either a huge tool or middle aged.

Suggestions:
1)Include some Justice MSTRCRFT Bloody Beetroots or anything similar in rage-i-ness.
2)Go to Hypem or read some damn music blogs.

Epic fail

In what year were you told this was the best party playlist ever?
I guess it really depends on the party you're having..
If I'm out at a club or bar and they start playing any of most of what's on that list, I go look for another place to dance.
If you're hosting a house party with that, it'd better be a retro-pop themed party because any of the guys I know would ban you from the turntables for life. Then they'd take pitty on you for not knowing what party music is and wipe your iPod and refill it with real party beats. Not this top-40 pop radio shite you got goin on here.

Toronto Mike
June 17, 2009 / 16:10

Stumbleuponers, allow me to explain myself...

1. This mix was meant for the masses, and is therefore Top 40-laden.

2. It's a corporate event. Cheese is part of the deal.

3. The title, "Best. Party. Playlist. Ever", was meant to be tongue in cheek.

nah
June 18, 2009 / 03:26

this is just a bunch of pop hits. i guess that's what people want but if i was DJing it's not what i would play.

steroids
June 18, 2009 / 09:18

wow, some oldies also here.
the best i think is Coolio with gangsta paradsie

nice one

The top 40 is not what people want, its what they are fed by the corporate pigs. Its a DJ's DUTY to give the people the best songs to free them from the shackles of the charts. Here in scotland we would never find most of that in ANY club. Aqua is a real fucked up joke.

I'm feelin it. You said most of the crowd was born in the seventies? I'm impressed. You sparked my taste and had to download some of the songs that I had forgotten about on there.

While this list may not appeal to all you Hipsters, it is indeed a fact that these are PARTY songs that one might find out in a bar or club any given weekend night.I work 2 nights a week in a VERY busy bar, and these songs never fail to get people singing along and having a good time. It is by no means extensive or complete, but nonetheless, accurate.

Nice Job

This ain't easy. All things considered, this is a solid pleaser mix for the masses.

Well done.

This is a horrible playlist. I am giving you a 'thumbs down' on Stumbleupon. If you ever claim to have good taste in music again, may the RIAA butt fuck you in court for illegally downloading all these songs.
