Doing Away With Moses Znaimer

Published December 11, 2008 @ 19:19 in Television

citytvAt Queen and John Streets, you'll now find Moses Znaimer Way. The CITY-TV founder has been honoured by city hall with a street sign bearing his name.

I find it ironic that they're resurrecting a sign to honour Moses while Rogers dismantles every stitch of ingenuity he brought to CITY-TV. Earlier this month, CTVglobemedia announced cuts that included the demise of The NewMusic, a show that was a legend for its part in launching new bands and the careers of a score of TV hosts and presenters. That's right Toronto music fans, The NewMusic is dead.

The NewMusic joins Ed the Sock, Amber Mac, Silverman Helps and Speakers Corner in the Rogers CITY-TV graveyard.

It's no longer Moses Znaimer's way.

Dismantling is exactly right. Silverman Helps and Speakers Corner were such awesome shows. CITY TV was an awesome station. Very sad.

About all that's left is Breakfast Television. I dig Kevin and Frank.

I thought the New Music was a City TV show?

Wait until CP24 is CFTOized with crappy content and bad video quality.

CRTC mad a big error in letting CTV control 2 news channels.

Rogers applied for and received a license for a Toronto news channel.

Rogers' news channel:

CP24's license renewal and modified mandate:

CP24 is a Southern Ontario news channel?
They hardly ever leave downtown.

I hate that CTV has destroyed CITY. A once great station is just like all the others now.

Ugh, I so miss the old days of CityTV. They've wrecked the news at 6 too. Why are they not allowed to say goodnight at 6? It's just weird. How can The New Music be gone. OMG.

It's all a little confusing. BT is still on CP24 but It's not a CP24 program now . CP24,Bravo and Much are owned by CTV now. City is owned by Rogers (Is that why Silvermans gone? Too many cable complaints?) and both CTV and rogers are changing things and losing the spirit that City ebodied in the early days. Too bad.
