David Wells: I Saw STP and the RHCP With Him

I'm featuring 1988 Topps Cards featuring members of my beloved Blue Jays that are featured on this blog.
The first thing I thought when I saw this card was, "damn, he was slim back then!" David Wells was larger than life and a fan favourite during his two tours of duty in Toronto. I was a big fan.
On August 16, 2000, I saw Stone Temple Pilots and Red Hot Chili Peppers at the Molson Amphitheatre. That's the same summer David Wells went 20-8 for our Jays, and he attended this same show at the Amp. He was like a rock star when he arrived and sat only a few rows in front of me.
It's strange reminiscing about his 1988 baseball card because he played as recently as 2007 and hasn't officially retired yet. I miss the big guy.

I liked Wells when he was here, though I always thought of him as one of those you love him if hes on your team but hate him if hes playing against you.
