M.I.A. - Paper Planes

Published by Toronto Mike on September 22, 2008 @ 21:43 in SLS ~ Smells Like Sour

slsI'm submitting a song for SLS20 consideration. I'm submitting "Paper Planes" by M.I.A.

This tune has had a very interesting year. It was released on iTunes back in February, it got my attention shortly thereafter when I read about MTV's refusal to air the video with the gunshots and then I hit up YouTube to hear what all the fuss was about.

I liked the tune, thought it was awfully catchy, but it wasn't until I started hearing it again during the Pineapple Express trailer that I started to really dig it. Now, 102.1 has decided to add it to their playlist and I've been catching it on the radio. All this exposure has me finally succumbing and nominating it for SLS20 consideration.

This one has legs.

Got my vote! Took 102 a long time to decide to play....so much for their "new music" mentality.

Once again Edge 102 misses the boat and is the last station on earth to add as song. What a pathetic excuse for a station. No wonder only soccer dads listen.

Yeah, "Canada's New Rock Leader". X92.9 Calgary been spinning it for months, as has 91.7 The Bounce, a Top 40 station in Edmonton

Go Edge. Proof it's the worst Alt Rock station in North America..

come now people, not more than 8 years ago, 102 was the best alt rock station.
they still are on Sunday nights. Martin Streek is still worth listening to.

Buffalo, why should we excuse the station for it's pathetic showing? 102.1 has consistently "informed" us how it's on the forefront of new music. It's clearly not.

I was going to mention the "Straight to Hell" sample.
