I Heart Roy Halladay

JaysRoy "Doc" Halladay allowed only four hits over eight innings last night and earned his 13th win of the season. He's already pitched seven complete games in an era when that just doesn't happen. The man has been here for ten years and I once saw him pitch a no-hitter for 8 2/3 innings.

Roy Halladay is the Blue Jays. He's the heart and soul of this team, consistently awesome. I heart Roy Halladay and I don't care who knows it.

Here's the stub from the near no-hitter.

Booner,

I remember that game, and I can't believe that was 10 years ago. Wasn't that his first MLB start as a Jay?

As you can see, I had kick ass seats for this one. When there were two outs in the ninth I remember telling myself "this is really going to happen, I'm really going to witness a Jay pitch a no-hitter".

Then he gave up a homer.

It might have been his first start, but I doubt it. These past 10 years have blown by.

Like Kic, I thought it was his first career start, too. It turns out it was his second.

I started out my move to Texas 3 days before that game, I remember reading about it in the paper and lamenting what almost was.

As for Doc, it got a lot worse for him before it got better. It was one of those true feel-good stories when he came all the way back from A ball to win the Cy.
