Movies Based On a Not-So-True Story

moviesI just read a great CRACKED.com article entitled 7 Movies Based on a True Story (That Are Complete Bullshit). It's a good read, but be warned. It may shatter your entire belief system.

A number of the films in their group of seven are amongst my favourites of all-time. Rudy, The Pursuit of Happyness, Lean on Me, Good Morning, Vietnam and The Hurricane are all flicks I dig, but they aren't as based on a true story as you were led to believe.

Here's their 7:

  • The Pursuit of Happyness
  • 21
  • Lean On Me
  • Rudy
  • Victory (AKA Escape to Victory)
  • Good Morning, Vietnam
  • The Hurricane

I could have sworn that Good Morning Vietnam was based on a true story
Rudy, is a true to life person who did play for Notre Dame

Good Morning Vietnam was based on the life of Adrian Cronauer

I mean sure the movies were altered a lil for Hollywood but what Hollywood production isn't hyped up a little.

Sure, they're all based on real people, but they all take liberties with the real story in order to Hollywood-ize the movie.

I think you could say that about any Hollywood movie no matter how true they try to make it, they are going to dramatize and add things that may or may not have happened to make it more appealing or more rivoting......you can never truly recreate what happened in the past
