Jay-Z Sings Wonderwall for Noel

Published June 29, 2008 @ 20:15 in Music

music"99 Problems" is my favourite Jay-Z song. I hear Jay-Z stole the show at Glastonbury this year and prior to busting into a "Back In Black" backed "99 Problems" he covered a little Oasis tune you might be familiar with.

You see, guys like Noel Gallagher didn't think an American rapper belonged at England's most famous rock festival, especially as the headliner. It was a ballsy move, but it seems to have paid off.

Here's that great moment at Glastonbury.

I don't know, Im not big on the rap star covering the rock tune/remaking the rock tune thing. Puffy remade Every Breath You Take and it sucked ass. I wasn't impressed with Jay Z. Ballsy yes, paid off? maybe amongst those who like him.

Having a rapper headline Glastonbury was ballsy.

The cover of Wonderwall was just a tongue in cheek jab at Noel. I'm only thinking this ballsy move paid off based on reviews I've read. By no means am I saying it paid off because I think it's actually a good cover of Wonderwall. :-)

And there's no comparison between Jay-Z and Puffy. Jay-Z is waaaay better.

I am impresed with the Back in Black and at least he let most of the audience do the singing to wonderwall and didnt ruin it entirely.
