When I went to bed last night, the Sharks led the Flames 3-0. I couldn't believe my ears when the shower radio told me Calgary came back and won. Cujo does it again.
The committee met last night and we're going to strip Patino of his four Steve Avery points. Why? Because we don't like Avery or his antics. Sorry Patino, the committee has spoken.

I completely disagree. I am disgusted by that kind of stuff. There are no rules against it simply because no one in the right mind would try it. Should he have gotten a penalty? No.. the rules say that clearly. But there is about to be a Sean Avery Clause put into place that I doubt would ever need to be enforced again, unless Avery is the culprit.
I am not saying that how he plays is not effective. The numbers for the Rangers with him in the line-up vs without him are staggering in favor of having Avery suit up.
But I for one would like to see them go after him tomorrow. He's a marked man.... and I hope he gets what's coming.

My god! I pray the same thing doesn't happen to Avery that happened to Steve Moore because that's exactly the kind of mentality that led to his incident.
Like I said in my blog, I'm no fan of Avery, but this incident outlines all that is wrong with Hockey and the reason it will never grow significantly beyond our borders.
BTW, the NHL's changing or "massaging" of the rules as a result of this entry is IMHO a bigger embarrassment than anything Avery has done so far.
Avery's antics may have been silly and misguided, but I also thought they were creative and effective. The NHL is the embarrassment in their severe overreaction. I wrote about that here:
