ttcThis 1954 footage from the CBC is making the rounds. If you know the TTC subway system, you'll get a kick out of this.

Toronto's got itself a subway!

3 tokens for a quarter.

It's neat to see the same subway line that I ride today in that footage. And I swear it is the same train, too.

Everything is pretty much the same except the red rocket is now grey.

I wonder if they were on strike as often back then?

I've just about had it with the TTC lately. I've been riding 5 days a week for the past 5+ years and it gets worse all the time. Lack of funding and poor management of the funds they did get for so long is really starting to take its toll. I think Toronto is outgrowing the TTC really fast.

Now I'm getting all nostalgic... I miss that Yorkdale to Union Station ride to catch the Jays.

The subway is now silver, not grey. The old trains were very interesting with the windows that could open.

I remember as a younger man you'd occasionally get a red subway. That was always pretty cool. When did the last red subway get pulled?
