No Grammy... No Grammy... Stop!

grammysI've been getting hits today from people Googling Grammys Recap. This 2004 entry is #17 for that search. This year, I didn't watch a minute of the Grammys and nor did I feel the urge to tune in.

I hear Amy Winehouse did alright for her hit single "Rehab", which is a pretty great tune. I didn't hear much else and, for the first time in forever, I didn't even bother to read a list of winners. I just can't scrounge up the energy to care.

Did I miss anything cool?

I really don't care either. Over the years they've made so many mistakes, and seemingly gave out awards based on commercial appeal. Now I perceive it as a big waste of time.

Most awards shows are nonsense anyway. The Grammys is the worst of the lot. The idea of giving an award to someone for the best song of the year is nuts. Everyone will have their favorite song of the year but that’s just the point: music taste is personal.

I happen to like Amy Winehouse’s music but that’s just my opinion. Awards shows like the Grammys are easy money to the networks broadcasting them and its free advertising for the music industry – which it currently desperately needs.

And hey – whatever happened to Toto?

I think the Grammy Awards are a joke. With hundreds of categories (Liner notes is an award????) everyone wins a Grammy.

They pick a hot commodity for an award or given someone their "due". Herbie freakin' Hancock? I didn't knew he had released an Album.

I really hate the Grammys. Look at the list of people who have won them over the years. So many crappy songs and artists.

Also Amy Winehouse wouldn't have won if not for all the crazy press she has received over the past few months.

Have you seen the 5 episode "No Whammy" show series where the guy figured out the "random" algorithm and won enough money that they couldn't fit the "$" in the score anymore? It's pretty sweet.
