Hot Fuzz

A Movie ReelHot Fuzz: 8 out of 10.

I should start by telling you I've never seen "Shaun of the Dead", so I had no idea what to expect when I sat down to watch "Hot Fuzz". Not only is "Hot Fuzz" hilariously funny, but it's a pretty sharp crime film as well.

Now I need to see "Shaun of the Dead"...

If you enjoyed Hot Fuzz, you're going to love Shaun of the Dead. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed Hot Fuzz but I thought Shaun was by far the superior movie. I felt that Hot Fuzz just took too long to get going whereas Shaun was much more even.

"Shaun" is brilliant...and a nice respite from the avalanche of zombie films that came out at the time.

I liked "Hot Fuzz" but "Shaun" was, as Greg points out, funnier, longer.

I "like" these "quotation" marks apparently.

"Hot Fuzz" was, as Ebert has been known to say, "A long drive for a short day at the beach." The beach is always nice, but the drive to get there was a tad long. The beach in "Shaun" was pretty much next door and it was a long weekend once you got there! How's that for talking in metaphor?

Now I'm really looking forward to Shaun of the Dead...
