Alex Sanchez, I Don't Remember You At All

blue jaysI'm featuring 1988 Topps Cards featuring members of my beloved Blue Jays that are featured on this blog.

Unlike Jim Clancy and Ernie Whitt, I have no memories of Alex Sanchez. He was our #1 pick in the 1987 draft but he didn't pan out. In fact, he only made four major league starts and his first was his best. "Despite giving up 5 hits and 5 walks in 6 innings, he allowed just 1 run and left the game tied. David Wells came in, pitched the last 3 innings, and got the win."

Although I'm pretty sure I was either watching or listening to that game, it's not ringing a bell.

I remember him Mike. I remember that game too. I thought he was going to be a god send and ended up being dud.

Dude, you just reminded me of José Núñez. I remember him debuting with a helluva start and I thought I was seeing the future of Blue Jays baseball.

At least Juan Guzman's brilliance lasted more than one game. But not much longer.

I remember in the late 90s watching a September call-up pitch himself 8 2/3 innings of no-hit ball against the Tigers.

I watched from kick ass SkyDome seats and wondered if I was watching the future of Blue Jays baseball. This kid was soon thereafter sent down to the minors. I wonder whatever became of this Roy Halladay fellow?

I went to Jr. & Senior High school with Alex. He was a great pitcher & wouldn't have been the #1 draft pick if otherwise. He wasn't given a long enough time to prove himself. I believe he got a bad deal.
