2007 Polaris Prize Nominees

Published by Toronto Mike on July 10, 2007 @ 21:24 in Music

musicThe Polaris Music Price is meant to recognize Canada's best album based on creative quality, regardless of musical genre or sales figures. It's essentially our Mercury Prize.

Last year's winner caught me off guard, so this year I'm predicting Chan VanGaalen will win. I never heard of him/her/them, so he's/she's/they've gotta be cool.

Here are the nominees.

  • Arcade Fire - Neon Bible
  • The Besnard Lakes - The Dark Horse
  • The Dears - Gang Of Losers
  • Julie Doiron - Woke Myself Up
  • Feist - The Reminder
  • Junior Boys - So This Is Goodbye
  • Miracle Fortress - Five Roses
  • Joel Plaskett Emergency - Ashtray Rock
  • Chan VanGaalen - Skelliconnection
  • Patrick Watson - Close To Paradise

Chan VanGaalen is a Calgary artist and is f'ing good. His CD before this one was amazing. He's got kindof a Niel Young trapped in the Matrix type sound.

CC, email me something from this dude. Neil Young trapped in the Matrix is a sound I need to hear.
