Jill is someone I only know in the virtual world. She's been a daily visitor to this blog for a while now and she frequently leaves comments. She just left one on my entry about "Crank", in fact.
Jill blogs as jewlelgurl, and since she was reading everything I wrote, I subscribed to her RSS feed. It often had fun links to celebrity stories and other pop culture happenings. Recently, the material has become more real.
Here's an entry Jill just wrote. As I read it, I was temporarily pulled into Jill's world and it was awfully intense. She works in the medical field so she sometimes forgets to dumb it down for the rest of us, but it's clear Jill faces a great deal of uncertainty as doctors aggressively treat her "Squamous Cell Carcinoma with a T2 tumour".
One more thing, I once met Jill. When I was interviewed by blogTO I alluded to the person who approached me during Ricky Williams' first game in an Argos uniform. That was Jill.
Jill, since I know you'll read this, stay strong and positive, even if that seems impossible, and please keep writing about it. We're rooting for ya, and reading about your battle.

As this is unfolding and happening, I am honestly amazed as I did not expect so many people, some of whom I have never met or barely know to reach out and provide me with much needed support and caring, just when I need it the most.
I find it inspiring. It makes me want to reach out, to give of myself,
to bring joy to others, to quite simply connect with others in a way that I hadn’t considered before.
This has been the ultimate Pay It Forward experience for me.
