Alpha-Getti and Zoodles

Published May 5, 2007 @ 18:41 in Mixed

foodHeinz bought Libby's about a decade ago, which means Heinz owns both the Alpha-Getti brand of canned pasta and Zoodles.

I used to work in a grocery store, and I used to do all the grocery shopping. At some point about five or six years ago, Taryn became the primary grocery shopper and she's been doing it all on her own ever since. I never see the inside of a grocery store anymore, and I'm not complaining one bit.

Today I found myself in a Hy & Zel's that's going out of business, and I saw how they market the Alpha-Getti and Zoodles. They're side by side and look nearly identical. I'm sure the only difference now is the shape of the pasta and the name. I had my camera with me so I took a pic.

Alpha-Getti & Zoodles!

I have an old Zoodles can from back in the day where the coconut tree is a quite graphic penis. does anyone remember when they were taken off the shelf? Now that's marketing!

That is so obviously a penis. Someone in the marketing department must have had a good time with that one!!

Now every time i eat zoodles i will do less sucking and slurping.

Good stuff - I'll post this as an entry unto itself.

I have a VHS cover of The Little Mermaid with a similar image...

Which Hy & Zel's? Is it the one on Islington or are there others?!

There are others, but it's the one on Islington by Norseman that's closing.

I think it's going to become a No Frills...
