38 Years Old, Fort York Style

tragicallyhip I still think about that June 24 Tragically Hip show at Fort York. Here's the review I wrote the next morning. Besides being a fantastic show with great audio and a perfect venue there was "38 Years Old". My 13 for 38 entry sheds some light on why this was so special. Prior to that pretty June night about six months ago the Hip hadn't played "38 Years Old" live since July 24, 1993. That's thirteen years in the wilderness, thirteen years without playing a fan favourite and gem from their breakout album, Up To Here.

Someone at hipfans.com posted this performance on YouTube. I really like this footage because it was taken from almost the exact spot I was standing.

Thank u so much for that. I have a live version of '38 Years Old' on mp3 and I think that one is better than this, but still it is a great clip.

You know, there's a bootleg circulating for this. The Hipbase (http://hipbase.com) has a thriving community of tapers, and they've recorded this. From there, you can find the Fort York concert.

And no, this isn't just a random plug. I think it'd be useful for you.

Being at this concert as well..I was utterly in awe of this performance. 38 years old is such a fantastic song. As a huge hip fan, seeing it live was an utter shock!!! What are the odds that they sing it live in Hamilton in a couple of weeks when I see them again? Probably pretty low! Love the video posting - it was just to the left of where I was.

PS - love your site - keep it up!
