Who's Our Muldoon?

nhlI was just reading about the Curse of Muldoon. The Blackhawks haven't won the Stanley Cup since 1961 and they're blaming Pete Muldoon and a curse he put on the club back in 1927. That's their excuse for having the longest cup-less drought in NHL history. Guess who's #2?

The Toronto Maple Leafs haven't won it all since 1967, but where's our curse? I suppose we could blame Harold Ballard who assumed sole control of the team in 1971, but that's not really a curse. That was mediocre management, which is a curse of sorts, but not nearly as sexy as the Curse of the Bambino or the Curse of the Billy Goat.

We're a season away from hitting the big 4-0. Only the Blackhawk faithful have it worse, but at least they know they're cursed. We've just stunk.

It's the Davey Keon Curse!

Once we do right by him we'll win the cup. Although, we better hurry up. He is no spring chicken.

I understand Keon having a huge hate-on for Ballard, but this isn't Ballard's team anymore. It's time Keon let this grudge go and let this curse die.

Isn't his son the goal judge?

If you want an excuse for not winning a cup in 40 years, one need only look no farther than the goaltending. I mean, we can criticise Ottawa for choking in general when playoff time comes a-callin', but our goaltending seems to get steadily worse the farther into the playoffs we progress. The exception to this is of course last year, but I think we've all decided to blame management's idioticness for that one.
