Probably 1 of the most influential songs of the 70's. A great tune. One of my all time fave's.

Unbeknownst to most record buyers, Desmond himself had first been introduced to a mass audience in 1968 as the inspiration for the Beatles' horrible plundering of Jamaican music, "Ob-La-Di Ob-La-Da" ("Desmond works a barrow in the marketplace...")

I must admit, I learned about Desmond Dekker yesterday morning for the first time.

This morning, I tracked down a copy of "Israelites" and heard it for the first time. It's a very cool tune. It's amazing how little is known about this guy.
