Alex Gonzalez Retires

mlb

In the mid 90s, Alex Gonzalez was touted as a can't miss prospect for the Blue Jays.  Although not a great batter, he was a stellar defensive shortstop who gave us eight promising years.  In 2001 he hit .253 with 17 homers, 76 RBIs and stole 18 bases.  He also frequented the Blockbuster employing my brother at the time securing him a spot in the Boon hall of fame.

Today, Alex Gonzalez retired after 13 seasons in the majors.  His puny .111 average most likely the deciding factor in this sudden decision.  He'll be remembered around here for his great glove and poor taste in movies.
