Popeye The Sailor Man

Seeing an 88¢ bin in WalMart last June got me thinking about the old Popeye VHS cassette we used to watch.  It featured "Popeye Meets Sinbad The Sailor" and "Ali Baba's Forty Thieves" and we just loved it.

This past weekend James, Steve and I were walking along Yonge Street checking out the music stores when I spotted a DVD featuring nine classic Popeye cartoons.  Included amongst the nine were both "Popeye Meets Sinbad The Sailor" and "Ali Baba's Forty Thieves".  There was no way I was going to leave without a copy so I picked one up and this week James, Michelle and I sat down to watch these vintage classics from 1936 and 1937.

James loves the constant duels between Bluto and Popeye and Popeye's sudden strength when he downs a can of spinach.  I love the nostalgic value and seeing them through his eyes, not to mention the wicked comedy muttered throughout.

Here's the front and here's the back of the DVD.  75 years later, Popeye is still kicking ass.
