St. John's Maple Leafs 4, Cleveland Barons 2

The Blue and White Maple LeafKyle Wellwood and David Ling each had a goal and an assist as the St. John's Maple Leafs extended their American Hockey League winning streak to six games Tuesday night by doubling the Cleveland Barons 4-2. The victory was the 38th of the season for St. John's, giving the Leafs their most wins in a season since the 1993-94 campaign.

Not so coincidentally, this Leaf excellence directly coincides with my decision to recap each of their games this season. If my hypothesis is correct, and I believe it is, the Leafs are excelling because they are aware of this extra attention. They realize that we're watching them far closer this season than any other in their franchise history. When we win the Calder Cup, I intend to take a great deal of the credit.
