Don't Call It A Comeback

Yahoo!

For years, Yahoo! was the web darling amongst geeks and wannabe geeks.  Over a year ago I waxed philosophical about the early years of the web and using my Yahoo! address as my primary addy for years.  I still log onto the Yahoo! Instant Messenger every day and I've always enjoyed certain Yahoo! features like MyYahoo! and their news portal.  Yahoo! was the top dog for years.

Then along came Google.  Google overtook Yahoo! as the web darling amongst geeks and wannabe geeks with their awesome search and web savvy apps.  Yahoo!, it seemed, was stuck in a rut.  They no longer seemed to get it whereas Google did.  I don't remember the last time I did a Yahoo! search for something.

Lately, Yahoo! has been resurfacing as a relevant web company.  I'm reading that their search results are improving, they're about to launch a new blogging tool called Yahoo!360, they've upped their email to 1GB a'la Gmail and they just bought Flickr, the coolest online app I've ever used.

Don't call it a comeback, they've been here for years, but Yahoo! matters once again, and that's a good thing.
