Doug Bennett was 53. He was the lead singer for Doug & the Slugs, a Canadian band best known for its hits "Too Bad", "Day By Day" and "Making It Work".
Doug & the Slugs were fixtures on the AM radio I listened to growing up. In the early 80s hey day of CFTR not an afternoon went by that you didn't hear a song from Doug & the Slugs. Just recently, "Too Bad" was chosen as the opening theme song for "The Norm Show" starring fellow Canuck Norm MacDonald. I was reminded what good tunes those were. Doug was the Canadian indie band of my youth.
