Nice Package

Nice Package

Hot damn those Swedes know how to package furniture.  This afternoon, I visited my local Ikea in pursuit of a couple of chairs for the basement.  I'm still baffled at how they managed to break these chairs down into such tiny packages.  The actual boxes I brought home were impressively small and now that the chairs are assembled there is very little waste.  In fact, once I break down the cardboard for the recycling bin there's hardly anything left.

There wasn't an ounce of styrofoam and and no wrapping that wasn't necessary to ensure the chair arrives home without breaking.  I suggest we put the people from Ikea in charge of reducing the world's garbage.  They're absolutely awesome at it.

By the way, I finally wised up and avoided the infamous Ikea labyrinth altogether.  Back in December 2003 I vowed to slip past the people checking out to save myself twenty minutes of following stupid blue arrows on the floor just to get back to the marketplace.  True to my word, that's exactly what I did.

A rebel with a cause...
