Last night's #TMLX2 was awesome. In addition to the live music there was stand up comedy from David Shoalts and Gare Joyce. I now have in my possession a recording of these sets, which I share with you all now.
Be warned, there are no swears, but some of the content is not for the faint of heart. In Gare's words, "no profanity, extreme vulgarity".
Last night #TMLX2 went off without a hitch! Well, there was one wrinkle when Splash'N Boots got held up in Newfoundland where they're recording at Alan Doyle's house, but everything else worked out perfectly, including the weather.
The Royal Pains were awesome once more. Seriously, you should hire this band. They're amazing.
David Shoalts and Gare Joyce brought the funny. I didn't expect to laugh so hard. Kevin McGran from The Toronto Star took video with Gare's camera, so I'll see if I can't share both sets. Very funny stuff.
A number of past guests made the trip and it was great to see everybody again. I saw Mike Wilner, Lou Schizas, Keegan Matheson, Dahlia Kurtz, Humble Howard Glassman, and of course, Hebsy. Even Andrew Stoakley and Elvis were there!
And of course, so many fantastic listeners! LieveFamke and her husband Juan returned with name tags for everyone, bsmntdwllr73 was back, as was Rick C in Oakville, Rush Mike, Steve H., Michael Lange, Joe, Andie and James. And so many made their first appearance at a TMLX, including Tyler, Ian, Greg, Brother Neil, Dawn, Doug, Irwin, Harold, Shem, Alice, Andrew, Nicole, Hunter, Jamie, the Dads in the Six, Milon, Mac, Mike M., Stephanie, Stephanie's cousin from Pickering, and so many more I'll remember two minutes after I click "publish" on this entry.
Thank you for listening, thank you for your emails, your tweets, your comments, your support, and for being there last night. Here are some photos from #TMLX2.
The first Toronto Mike'd Listener Experience was great fun, so we're going to do it again. Only this time, it's bigger and better!
Join me on September 12 from 6pm to 9pm at Great Lakes Brewery for TMLX2. Once again The Royal Pains will perform (book them, they're fantastic!), and they'll be joined by very special guests Splash'N Boots. Splash'N Boots aren't just great past Toronto Mike'd guests, but they're also this country's answer to The Wiggles, only better! But fear not, they won't be playing their standard toddler fare, they'll be singing covers of great 90s jams.
Former Toronto Mike'd guests David Shoalts and Gare Joyce will also be performing 10 minutes of stand-up each, so you don't want to miss that!
There's no cover, your first beer is on the house, and then it's only $5 a pint for fresh and tasty GLB. They'll also have their amazing food truck open, so come hungry. Weather permitting, we'll be on the patio, but there's plenty of room indoors if it rains on September 12.
So join me September 12 from 6pm to 9pm and be sure to say hi and introduce yourself. If you attended the first TMLX, I can't wait to see you again. If this is your first, I can't wait to meet you.
Mark your calendars, but if you track such events in Facebook, here's the Event Page in FB for your convenience.
And finally, thanks to Stu from The Royal Pains for the poster above, and Steve from Igniter for the poster below.
And most importantly, thanks to everyone who took time out of their Thursday night to drop by Great Lakes Brewery to say hi and support the show. It was amazing getting to meet every single one of you and I hope I get to see you again on September 12.
