SLS ~ Smells Like Sour
I'm a little behind on posting songs to this site that I've submitted via the Smells Like Sour website for SLS13 consideration. This is a good opportunity to clean out my SLS closet.
I have submitted the following songs. They'll all get strong consideration. For more on SLS, check out this page I threw together.
- Weezer - Beverly Hills
- Modest Mouse - The World At Large
- Franz Ferdinand - The Dark Of The Matinee
- Garbage - Why Do You Love Me?
I would have just submitted a song via the Smells Like Sour website for SLS13 consideration, but it was already submitted.
I was going to submit "The Widow" by The Mars Volta. It's a sensational song and a shoe in for SLS13. I hear the entire album is awesome and I can't wait to hear it.
This note's still for you, only now you can look stylish while listening to it.
We at Smells Like Sour are now selling official Smells Like Sour tee shirts. See for yourself. If your wardrobe doesn't contain one of these suckers, you're just not happening.
What's in a name? That which we call a rose by any other name would smell as sweet.
If Bill Shakespeare were blogging today, he'd be asking what's in a domain name. Who can blame him? Securing the proper domain name for your site is half the battle.
As if that wasn't enough for one day, the front page of SLS has also changed considerably. It's now the SLS Blog with the latest submissions listed on side bar to the right.
Bill would be proud.
I just submitted a song via the Smells Like Sour website for SLS13 consideration.
I submitted "E-Pro" by Beck, the first single of his new album Guero.
It's a very Beck-ish song and that's a good thing. I get an Odelay feel from it and I'm digging the Beastie Boys sample. It's safe to say this tune is a shoe in for SLS13 this June.
I've submitted a few tracks via the SLS home page for SLS13 consideration.
I've submitted "Dead Disco" by Metric, "Cigaro" by System of a Down and "Little Sister" by Queens of the Stone Age.
I'm a big fan of all three bands and they don't disappoint with these singles. In particular, I'm totally digging "Cigaro". It's another fast paced, totally manic, rockin' treat from this awesome band. Hear for yourself.
I've updated and reformatted my copy of the SLS database. I list every song ever to appear on an edition of SLS in alphabetical order and reference the edition it appeared on.
From 311 to the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, it's all there...including a few I'd rather forget.
A comment was left early this morning on our SLS page for Custom's "Hey Mister". It appears to be from Custom himself and it appears to be legitimate. Here's what he wrote.
this is custom. i fell apon this site. i live in new york and am from canada. thanks for all the nice comments. my new record is finished and should be coming out in the spring. we are redoing the website and it should be up soon as well. teamcustom.com
He even provided his aol.com (poor guy) email address and I've written him to ensure we're not being duped. The post was made from Austin, Texas and I suspect it's the real deal. It's easy to find our page considering we're #2 in Google when you search custom hey mister.
I've submitted a couple of tracks via the SLS home page for SLS13 consideration.
I've submitted "Not So Bright" by The Marble Index and "Feel It" by Jakalope, a couple of CanCon tunes that deserve to be considered come late June. These two tracks join "Nothing To Lose" by Billy Talent as potential SLS13 tunes. The fact all three I've submitted thus far are CanCon is completely coincidental and besides, it's early yet. Stay tuned.
I submitted "Nothing To Lose" by Billy Talent. I've actually been really digging this tune for a while but we have a rule at SLS that an artist can only represented once on each edition. Billy Talent's "The River Below" was going to appear on SLS12 so I waited until it was in the can before submitting this tune for SLS13.
I know I've said this before, but Billy Talent's debut disc is awesome. They're now four killer singles deep with more on the way. I've been playing the hell out of "Nothing To Lose" and I'm still not sick of it.
