Mission Accomplished! Masai's plan comes to fruition!

Amazing, what a moment for the city. I am at a loss for words.

Amazing!!! So glad they turned that game around. Has been wonderful watching the playoffs with our 18 year old son, the youngsters are just as passionate as us oldies lol.

I watched this game with my wife and teenagers. Everyone was really into it, but when the Raps went on that fourth quarter run my boy and I hugged so hard I think I broke a couple of ribs. What a night!

Watched it with my bestie who got me into the Raps in 2016! We screamed, we cried - just amazing.

My condolences to Cheryl... lol

Totally a bandwagon person I have no problem admitting it... Watching the Raptors in 30 this morning... (am sick so was in bed early)... wow!

So congratulations to the 'true' fans! A long time coming!!!

Just for you Cheryl.

Incredible game. Incredible outpouring of emotion everywhere.

So, it's definitely "finals", not "final" ?
(I guess you can tell I pay almost zero attention to basketball. I watched part of a US college game on the internet about a year and half ago, but only because a relative's kid was playing.)

I actually think it's "final" and not "finals", but I doubt it really matters.

@Toronto Mike

For the NBA, it's definitely "Finals" and always has been.

Now that we're being pedantic, I cringe when NFL and NHL announcers say " _______gets called for a holding penalty. The 'penalty' is the punishment for the player or being down a man/losing yards for the team; the illegal act is the 'foul', as it's rightfully called in basketball.

That was pretty damn exciting. I wish they’d show less of Drake and focus more on the other things. I dug out one of my tickets from 1995/96 when I was part of some season tickets. SkyDome was a horrible venue.

The 4 days of rest between the Conference Finals ending and the NBA Finals starting is huge for Kawhi and a team that is only playing 8 players on a nightly basis.

Plus, it also gives the millions of bandwagoners 4 days to get their stories straight when they're questioned about anything Raptors related.

I saw a bunch of Raps games at the dome as well. I remember when our biggest win was an upset of the Bulls that season they only lost ten games. Jordan thought he won it at the buzzer but he got the shot off a titch late.

$2 says Cheryl takes Golden State for the final.

*Just a hunch

Hockey, being that it's so boring and all their stars lack any personality at all, is generally unappealing to mostly anyone non white. And when there are players with personality like PK Subban, who is black, we are told he's not a team player, or he show boats....all code words for closet racists like Don Cherry.

Such a difference being fanbases when you look at the fans outside.

The Leafs and NHL still do a terrible job at diversity....and hockey fucking sucks regardless.

Two sleeps later, this still feels SO AMAZING.

Mike, admit it, you added "our" in reference to a certain poster here who likes using certain possessive determiners. :)

Day oner fan here. I was at the Bulls game at the Dome in the 500 section.

I only left the TV once during the game on Saturday night and that was to read my daughter a quick bedtime story at half-time. After that, I soaked it all in including all the post-game coverage into the wee hours.

Even when they were down by 15 in the 3rd, I felt like they were going to win it. It's such a foreign feeling being a life-long Toronto sports fan and not being a fatalist when things don't go perfectly...heck, even when they do...and that's what this Raptors team has done to me...made me a sports optimist again. Even if it's for just one series.

I've never been all in on the Raptors and basketball in general. Prior to one game last season the only game i went to was about a week before they traded Vince. the only player on that raptors team that looked like they were even playing was Chris Bosh. Even though we had free tickets and access to a corporate box with free food etc. it was a very unpleasant experience. I didn't pay any attention all for years . And once i did start paying some attention it was really only listening to 590 the fan guys discussing them.

So Saturday was the first start to finish game I've watched in forever.

Not buying seasons tickets anytime soon but I'll be watching the Finals for sure. Getting this far really does add a lot of excitement to the city.

I love Hebsy but his take on today's podcast on keeping Kawhi vs. winning a championship was very irritating. He was presenting a false paradigm. How do we know that the Raptors losing will leave Kawhi hungry to get back to the finals with this team, and thus more likely to re-sign? How do we know that the Raptors winning the title will lead to Kawhi saying "mission accomplished" before heading back to California? In reality, no one knows what Kawhi is thinking or what he'll do in the off-season. It's all guesswork. No matter what happens vs. the Warriors, he may have already made up his mind. And in any event, that shouldn't be the focus right now. Winning this upcoming series - not keeping Kawhi - is all that matters at the moment.

Love the podcast and have been a fan of Hebsy for years. But in this case I thank Mike for being the voice of reason during the exchange :)

I still believe that the vast majority of Raptors fans would trade a championship in 2019 for years of misery.

But I also believe Jays fans (especially me) would have happily traded a World Series in 2015 for years of mediocrity while we rebuilt.

This is rare and the best chance for the raptors to win nba finals in their whole team history. No one knows when it will come again. They should do their best so that whatever happen, they don't regret it. Playing in the finals is very hard to come-by so they should do their best, avoid making too much mistakes, play defense 48 minutes, and execute the play carefully.
