Nothing Endures But Change: Live Streaming Podcast Recordings

I'm passionate of the "theatre of the mind" that is a podcast. It's an audio experience, so I've never been particularly interested in adding a video component. Instead, I've focused on making it sound great.

Mark Hebscher comes from the world of television, and has always been keen on utilizing video when recording his podcast Hebsy on Sports. I started experimenting with live video streams, using Toronto Mike'd as a guinea pig. The last several episodes have all live streamed at https://periscope.tv/torontomike and you can watch the recordings there on-demand.

After each episode, I'd make adjustments. I flipped the studio around so we're facing the camera, I added sponsor branding to the desk and back wall, and I tweaked the framing.

The last two live streamed eps, featuring Gino Vannelli and Jerry Howarth, each exceeded 1000 unique viewers. Toronto Mike'd remains a podcast, but there's clearly an appetite for video, and the sponsors love it. StickerYou is creating a decal for that back wall. Fast Time Watch & Jewellery Repair shipped over a sign. The Palma Pasta box of lasagna and Great Lakes Brewery six-pack case are on display in front.

Adding a little video has enhanced the experience without detracting from the audio. The lesson for me is to always keep an open mind. Nothing endures but change.

Yesterday was a very good Friday for Toronto sports fans. We won 'em all!

In a crucial game five in Boston, the Leafs held on for a 2-1 win and a 3-2 series lead. This was a biggie.

Meanwhile, in Orlando, the Raptors beat the Magic 98-93 to take a 2-1 series lead. Pascal Siakam led the way with 30 points and 11 rebounds.

At BMO Field, TFC staged a comeback when Jordan Hamilton scored two goals at the 77th and 79th minute to defeat Minnesota United FC 4-3. Alejandro Pozuelo scored TFC's first two goals.

In AHL action, the Toronto Marlies kicked off the North Division semifinals on the right foot with a convincing 4-1 win over the Rochester Americans to take a 1-0 lead in the best-of-five series.

Blake Wallace and Gareth O'Brien scored three tries apiece as the Toronto Wolfpack rallied from a 12-0 deficit Friday to beat Barrow Raiders 52-26 in Betfred Championship rugby league play.

And the perfect day was capped when the Jays beat the A's 5-1 in Oakland. This has never happened before, in fact, this is the first time the Blue Jays, Maple Leafs, Raptors, and Toronto FC have all won on the same day.

Notre-Dame Cathedral: My Pics

In 2012, I had business in Amsterdam, but took a few personal days to visit Paris first. What a city! I got engaged on this trip, proposing at the top of the Eiffel Tower.

We also visited Notre-Dame, a stunningly beautiful cathedral that took my breath away. And I'm a happy atheist!

Today, the Notre-Dame Cathedral burns into the night. Such a great loss, but we will rebuild. We must rebuild.

Here are some pictures I took of the Notre-Dame Cathedral on that trip back in 2012.

What Type of Lead is Best For My Dog

According to CAHI, there was an estimated 8.3 million cats and 8.2 million dogs in 2018, in Canada.

Leads help to keep your dog safe and under control when in public. There are many different lengths, widths, styles, and types of dog leads. Some leads are better for specific dog breeds, whilst other leads might be better for dogs who have different temperaments.

Check out the different types of leads that you can get for your dog:

  1. Standard Lead

A standard dog lead is the most common type of lead and is great for everyday use and training purposes.

Often these leads are made of Nylon or leather, which ensure that you have a durable lead. The materials are great for dogs of all ages and sizes.

Standard dog leads are between 4 and 8 feet in length. These leads are ideal for dogs who want some freedom and also for owners who want to have complete control if necessary.

  1. Chain Lead

If your dog tends to chew and destroy his/her lead, then the chain lead is an ideal replacement of the standard lead.

The metal chain will make sure that your dog can’t chew the lead and run away from you. Chain leads are available in different thickness and weight options, so you can choose a chain that is suitable for the size of your dog.

  1. Harness

Many dogs and owners prefer the harness to a traditional lead, because they offer more control over your dog and more comfort for your dog.

You can get no-pull harnesses, which are great for big dogs that tend to pull on the lead. You can also get back clip harnesses which are ideal for well-trained dogs. Whilst the front clip harness is ideal for dogs who tend to jump or pull.

If you are travelling in a vehicle with your dog, it is very important that you secure them in your car. A great way you can do this is by a car harness, which can be attached to a seatbelt and help keep your dog in one place. (Source: petsandpaws.ca)

  1. Adjustable Lead

Adjustable leads ensure that you have full control over your dog, because you can adjust the lead for different situations.

For example, you might want a shorter lead when you are training your dog. Whereas you might want to give your dog a longer lead length when you go for a walk.

These leads can typically be adjusted from between 3 and 6 foot, and this can easily be done by adding or removing a loop or clip on the lead.

  1. Retractable Lead

A retractable lead is popular among pet owners because the lead’s length can automatically be adjusted by pressing a button.

They work similar to a tape measure, with a nylon cord that has a length of anywhere between 4 and 30 feet. If you want your dog to stop, you can simply use the locking mechanism on the handle.

The retractable lead is ideal for dogs who want to have more freedom to go ahead, whilst not compromising the owner’s control over the dog.

It should be noted that untrained dogs might not learn how to walk well with this lead because it allows them to pull and not learn new behaviour correctly. These leads are best for dogs who are already trained and walk well on the lead.

Select the Right Type of Dog Lead

Four-legged friends can be part of the family too, which is why you need to look after your dog and make sure they are safe.

Keep your pooch safe, by finding the right dog lead for your dog. Remember you need to make sure your lead is the right length and type for your dog’s needs.

How to Hold a Baby

According to 150 StatCan, there were 383,102 births in Canada, in 2016.

Newborns are precious and very delicate when you are first born, which is why you need to familiarise yourself with how to hold your baby correctly.

Our guide will help to give you more insight into how to hold a baby, whether you want to embrace your baby with a snuggle hold or a face-to-face hold.

How to Do the Snuggle Hold

The first step to the snuggle hold is confidently and calmly pick up your baby. Babies can sense if you are uncomfortable, so make sure you are confident with your abilities.

Then you need to support the babies head with one hand and support his/her bottom with your other hand. Make sure you are gentle when holding your babies head and neck, because your baby can’t hold up their own head, so you need to support their head.

Rest your baby against your chest. Babies are instantly comforted by hearing your heartbeat, so this will help to soothe your baby. Remember to keep your one arm under your baby and the other supporting his/her head.

Holding your baby in the snuggle hold can bring great comfort to your baby and can be a great way to entertain your baby, either by reading or singing etc.

Listen to your baby, if he/she doesn’t seem happy, then you might need to try holding them in a different position. When you need to switch hands or change position, make sure you always keep one hand on your babies head.

How to Do the Face-To-Face Hold

The face-to-face hold allows you to interact and entertain with your baby. To do this hold, firstly, you need to place one hand behind your baby’s head and neck. This will help to support your baby’s head.

Then you need to place your other hand under their bottom (just like you do with the snuggle hold). Position your baby out in front of you so you can look at one another. This position works best if you hold your baby below your chest.

How to Do the Cradle Hold

The cradle hold is one of the most natural ways that you can hold your baby, and thus one of the most common ways you’ll see other parents holding their babies.

To do the cradle hold, you need to lay your baby down and pick him/her up by sliding one hand under their neck and head. Your other hand goes under their bottom.

Then you need to spread your fingers as far apart as you can, which will help to support your baby. Slide the hand that was supporting their head gently along their back, so that their head is resting in the crook of your arm and elbow.

Keep your other hand underneath your baby’s bottom and then bring your baby close to your body. The cradle hold can be a great way for you to relax your baby, this can be done by gently rocking them back and forth.

To help keep your baby safe when you are out and about research baby carriers.

Parenting Done Right

Parenting can be difficult, especially if you are a first-time parent, so take in as much advice as you can and always make sure that your baby is happy with whatever you are doing.

If you are a new parent, remember that there will be many new challenges, such as buying baby stuff, but just give it some time and you’ll soon become a natural.

Losing weight can often be a very difficult thing for people to do. Often you need to make lifestyle changes, instead of just skipping a few snacks every few weeks.

  • Supplements

Take supplements like creatine monohydrate, which will help to increase your muscle mass and improve your overall strength.

There are many different types of supplements and vitamins available that can aid in weight loss and muscle gain. Many athletes take supplements to help boost their performance.

You should also drink plenty of water throughout the day, because this will help to increase your body’s energy levels.

  • Protein Rich Food Eat a high-protein breakfast. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, so don’t skip it.

Instead, make sure you are eating foods which are high in protein, such as egg white scramble, or greek yoghurt and fruit. Food which is high in protein has been proven to reduce cravings and your calorie intake during the day.

  • Avoid Sugary Drinks Don’t consume sugary drinks. Drinks which are high in sugars, such as soda and fruit juices, are a big no-no if you want to lose weight fast.

  • Exercise More Do more exercise. The more active you are, the healthier you will become. Adults are supposed to get at least 150 minutes of physical activity each week.

If you have a spare 10 minutes a day, why not go for a jog? Or you could introduce swimming in the morning, it will help wake you up and help you lose weight.

  • Sleep More Treat your body to a good night’s sleep. Studies have shown a correlation between sleeping poorly and weight gain. So make sure you get at least 7 hours of sleep every night.

Lose Weight Faster

If you want to lose weight faster, make sure you implement the above tips and tricks which can help you keep the pounds off.

Use awareness as a weight loss tool. One of the best ways to lose weight is by being more conscious of what you are eating and when, and what exercise you are doing and how often.

Differences in Right Hand and Left Hand Driving

Watching movies from different countries exposes one to practices different from one's country, just like traveling does. For someone who is observant of the driving that occurs in movies, it is noticeable that sometimes, the driver's seat is at the left, and in some other movies, the wheel is at the right-hand side.  Anyone who is accustomed to driving on the left, or the use of the left side of the road can get confused when in a place where the right side is being used, and vice versa. A passenger may have no problem with this, be it a person who has acquired a driving training based on one type of traffic lane will have issues navigating a vehicle in a place that operates a different traffic lane

Therefore, it is important to understand the differences between the left hand and right hand driving. No one likes to drive on the wrong side of the road, and even if the person is lucky enough not to cause accidents, the person might not be lucky enough to escape the arms of the law and traffic enforcement agencies.

Why Is Driving Lane Specific?

Left hand traffic and right hand traffic, as the names designate signify driving on a particular side of the road. The essence of these types is to ensure that drivers stay on appropriate lanes, first, to make driving straightforward and avoid the confusion that will arise if everyone drove at their own discretion. Most importantly, the rule is designed to prevent collisions.

The driving lane dictates where the driver's seat will be. Left hand traffic will require that cars have their driver's seat and the wheel on the right hand while right hand traffic will require that cars have their driver's seat and the wheel on the left side. The purpose of this driver positioning is to ensure that the driver is central, and able to see a wide expanse of the road. This enables the driver to navigate better since he sees better.

In left hand traffic, roundabouts are clockwise while they are counterclockwise in right hand traffic. A driver's training will adequately cover the essentials of the way it works.

Left Hand Driving

History seems to point that Ancient Greek, Egyptian, and Roman troops paraded and marched on the left side of the road. The evidence often alluded to is 1988 archeological discovery of a double track that led Tina quarry in Southern England. The quarry often requires an entry with load and an exit of the work animals without load. The left lane had deeper grooves, indicating that it was the path into the quarry.

Some claim that travelers on horseback often stayed on the left lane. Majority of people are right-handed and they free their hand to do other things while they used their left hands to rein the horse. Their right hand was free therefore to draw a sword at the instance of an attack or to extend a hand of friendship. Another reason, which is linked to the horse is that horses are mounted from the left, and in those days when the roads were murky and muddy, it was safer to do so on the edge of the road, and most people kept riding on that lane. All of these info are being taught well in the pretest training of National Driving School Dublin.

According to the Worldwide Driving Orientation by Country report,   Left hand driving is now practiced in about seventy-five countries and territories.

The first regulation to come into enforcement for left side road usage began in the year 1300, when Pope Boniface VIII directed pilgrims to stick to the left side of the road ( though the French now use the right, after the French Revolution).

The British had legislation like postulations on left hand driving during driving measures passed between 1733 and 1835. Now, Britain, their colonies and some other countries have adopted left hand driving.

Ireland uses left hand driving.

Right Hand Driving

The history of right hand driving is often ascribed to Napoleon Bonaparte. Political influences, particularly the French Revolution inspired right hand driving in France and around the world.

Before the revolution, most carriages were on the left side of the road. The general principle was for the aristocrats to drive their carriages on the left side of the road, making the other road users to move to the left. During the revolution, the aristocrats tried to conceal their identities and merged with the masses and peasant travelers on the right side. This sparked a shift to the left.

Also, other countries that operate right hand traffic might have been influenced by the exploits of Napoleon Bonaparte. Napoleon conquered a large expanse of land and several territories. It was stated that Napoleon Bonaparte favored moving on the right and moved his troops in such a manner. This was because he was allegedly left-handed and “his armies had to march on the right so he could keep his sword arm between him and any opponent.” This made it easy for him to draw his sword to attack, or to repel an attack. This has made an automobile statement has it has influenced many countries, numbering over 165 countries and territories, a number that is about 65% of automobile road users.

Key Differences in Left hand driving and Right Hand Driving

•    Rate of Usage

Right hand driving is more common globally, with about 165 countries and territories, taking up about 65% of all road users nationwide being right hand drive countries while about seventy-five countries and territories use left hand driving.

•    Differences in Vehicles

The positioning is significantly different. In right hand traffic, the driver is seated on the left side while the driver is seated on the right in a place with a left driving orientation. Most windshield wipers are structured to clear the driver's side better and have a longer blade on the driver's side.  They wipe from the passengers' side to the driver's side. Headlights often focus on the driver's side of the road.

•    Lanes

When driving on the right, freeway permits are often on the right, likewise overtaking. While when driving on the left, freeway permits are often on the left, likewise overtaking

Qualify For Loans With A Bad Stellar Credit

The 21st century is heavily characterized by financial turbulence. In a time where Multi-National Corporations along with entire nations are struggling to maintain financial stability, individual households are at risk as well. Every day and every moment you put yourself out there, trying to make a living and all add up to a singular objective - financial stability. And when that very stability is at risk, you are left with no other choice but applying for a loan.

Now applying for a loan has its own concerns altogether. Especially, when you are new to the process of loaning, getting qualified can be quite a hassle. Now as a requirement, most banks and lenders need you to have stellar credit, a financial history of you taking loans and making successful repayments. The irony of the situation is, in order to take a loan you need to show past records of repaying loans. However, what do you do when you take a loan for the first time? You have no credit record to show? Is everything lost then?

Thankfully that is not the case. This essentially unjust problem has been spotted by any financial institutions. As a result, bad credit loans are quite popular with many banks and financial institutions. Bad credit loans Canada do not require you to have a stellar credit record for loan approval. Based on a few basic requirements (which can be very easily met,) these institutions will usher loans on you -remedying your financial difficulties.

How To Get No Credit Check Loans?

The most reliable and hassle-free way to come across such loans is considering connecting finance companies. These companies will not provide you loans directly but will act on your behalf and connect you with lenders. The benefit of availing the services of these companies is the accuracy rate. The lenders in connection, based on their good relation with the connecting company, find higher confidence with loan applicants. As a result, the qualifying process gets smoother.

These connecting financial companies are of course highly sought after for their no credit check loans connection. Although they can come handy, if you are looking for current financial information, loan application related services, credit card application and other credit-based financial services.

You can promptly visit the website of these companies, and register with them without the risk of any financial entanglements. When you apply on their website, you enter your requirements and qualifications. Based on your details, the website will match you up with a lender suitable to your profile.

Who Is Eligible For Bad Credit Loans Canada?

In a broader sense, almost every average individual is considered eligible for bad credit loans. You can be someone who is applying for the first time with no credit record. Or, you could be someone with a bad credit record, who won't fare well under a credit check. However, as far as technicalities are concerned, there are few minor formal requirements for application.

  • Minimum age 18 years.

  • Have a fixed and constant source of income that can be proved.

  • Having an active mobile phone connection.

  • Holding a bank account with pre-authorized access.

For What You Will Acquire A Loan

Financial trouble takes a different form. It is understandable by lenders that an individual can receive a financial blow from multiple external factors. Hence, bad credit loans can be received for different purposes.

  • repairing of automobile

  • renovating your residence

  • Repayment of debt

A Guide to Sports Betting and Vegas Odds in Canada

Canada has sort of an umbilical-cord relationship with the USA in many matters. Betting is one of them. What happens in the USA will most certainly have an impact in Canada too.

So the big question in front of the world’s gambling community is this. Will the recent changes in the US gambling scene with respect to the legislation affect Canada’s gambling industry as well? Or, to be more precise, how is it going to affect the online gambling and sports betting scene in Canada?

For starters, the recent developments in the US gambling industry have their origins in this order by the US Supreme Court.  The Supreme Court struck down the more-than-two-decades-old Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act (PASPA) of 1992, which in effect allows the individual US states to formulate legislation on sports betting on its own.

Some US states – namely, Nevada, Delaware, New Jersey, Mississippi, West Virginia Pennsylvania, and Rhode Island – have already taken the lead and legalized sports betting in their states. Many other US states are planning to enact bills to legalize sports betting. It is expected that most of the US states will make sports betting legal within the next couple of years.

The new trend will have its effect on Canadian provinces as well. To understand it in detail, you need to understand the basics of legislation regarding online sports betting in Canada and the actual scenario over there.

Different Provinces, Different Rules

The sport betting phenomenon in the USA so far has fetched only positive results. The states’ revenues have improved. New jobs have been generated. The world’s gambling industry and its assortment of service providers – such as betting software makers, gaming companies, and content platform developers – are looking at the USA with renewed enthusiasm. Naturally, Canadian provincial governments must be watching the developments with interest.

Canada’s 10 provinces – namely, Quebec, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Manitoba, British Columbia, Prince Edward Island, Saskatchewan, Alberta, Newfoundland, and Labrador – have 10 different kinds of legislation regarding gambling and sports betting.

For example, the legal age for betting begins at 18 years for Alberta, Manitoba, and Quebec, while for the rest of the provinces, persons above the 19 years are only eligible for betting. Or, take another example. Prince Edward Island, New Brunswick, and Newfoundland and Labrador do not allow casinos in their territory. The other seven provinces do allow casinos.

The bulk of the legislation in these states deal with land-based casinos and different forms of gambling, such as lottery, slots, casinos and other forms of gaming. There is no clear-cut legislation regarding online betting or offshore betting in any of these states.

None of these states can boast of a comprehensive piece of legislation regarding online betting, especially about offshore sports betting. The law, even in states that deal with online sports betting in Canada, cares more about persons who conduct online sports betting business within Canada than about persons who access the online sports betting websites operated from other countries.

A Grey Area Called Offshore Betting

The end result of the rather limited legislation is that it is okay to make online sports betting wagers in Canada, provided you are either dealing with a licensed operator within Canada or an unlicensed operator from outside the country. Dealing with an unlicensed operator from within the province or within the country could land you in trouble.

So far, there has not been a single case registered in Canada for placing sports bets on an unauthorized offshore gambling or betting website.

The concerns regarding this rather colloidal situation are two-prong.

First, there are calls from concerned citizen groups, especially those that tackle problem gambling among youngsters, to rein in the mushrooming acceptance of offshore gambling websites among youngsters.

Second, a number of responsible citizens, including legislators, are worried about the loss of revenue caused to the state because of the business operation of unlicensed offshore betting operators.

What to Do and What Not to Do

Well, as a lay bettor, what are the things one must keep in mind when involving with online sports betting in Canada?

The usual caveats regarding betting apply – be it in Canada or anywhere in the world for that matter. For instance, do not go by emotion and your likes or dislikes towards a particular team. Place your bet after a thorough analysis – both about the particular game and about the various odds, including Vegas odds, offered by the bookmakers. The odds can give you an excellent idea about what bookmakers think about the game as well as about how other bettors are placing the bets.

In addition to those must-do practices, here is a fairly simple checklist:

  1. Always check the domicile where the website is licensed.

  2. Ensure that the country of origin of the website has legalized sports betting.

  3. Check whether or not there is any issue for transferring money to and from Canada to that particular domicile. What is the use if you win your bets but cannot withdraw the money from that account to your own bank account?

Impact of Recent Legislation Changes in US States

One thing is certain. As more and more US states legalize sports betting, it will have a definite impact in Canadian provinces as well. It is not easy, or possible, to quantify the impact at this juncture. Betting on the betting industry’s developments is perhaps the riskiest of all bets!

One likely result is that more Canadian provinces will embrace online sports betting and formulate clear-cut legislation regarding offshore betting, inspired by the various similar Bills in the US states. It is also likely that the new rules will incline towards curtailing the activities of offshore gambling websites.

Even if they will continue to be allowed, such websites will be asked to get licensed. That is the worldwide trend. The governments usually have their eyes on the licensing fee and tax revenues from gambling and betting. If they do not take such measures, the revenue loss for the government will be significant.

As happened in the USA, more and more top betting companies in the world are likely to land in the Canadian provinces. Canadians will have an array of sports to bet on, such as tennis, cricket, motor racing, apart from the most preferred sports like basketball and football.

Gambling with Online Casinos in Canada for Real Money

In Canada, online gambling sites are not only readily available but also quite popular. The country's online casino situation is, in most part, a combination of the gambling scenes in the US and the now-controlled European nations. This essentially means that online gambling is generally legal in Canada except in a few provincial and municipal areas where restrictions have been imposed. Therefore, finding legal casino sites for Canada is not as difficult as it is in some other jurisdictions that are not too welcoming for both the gaming operators and the gamblers themselves.

Today, there are literally thousands of options when it comes to online casino sites but, as always, it is always recommended that you only play at the best ones. Finding the cream of the crop casino sites in Canada can be a rather daunting task especially because of all the available options as well as the fact that very many of these casinos have been improving their offerings to better compete. Fortunately, with regards to all the elements that make up an amazing online gambling experience, there are not many places that even come close to being comparable to the Canadian online gambling landscape. In this piece, we are going to look at some of these elements.

Enjoy Fair Gaming Experiences

Needless to say, fairness is critical when we’re talking about playing real money casino games, and is therefore a feature that each and every player must look out for before they decide to put even a single penny on a casino's games.

For most people, it is always unthinkable to delve into the technicalities of fairness and Random Number Generators (RNGs) that are very important aspects of all online casino sites. That said, the more reasonable and effective method of checking whether the Canadian online casino you are playing at is fair is by checking whether it is using software from reliable and industry-recognized developers.

All of the best online casino sites in Canada for real money are known to feature software and games from popular, reliable and tested software from developers like NetEnt, BetSoft, Playtech, and Microgaming among others. So as long as the casino site you’re playing at is partnered with any of these software developers, you’re likely in good hands.

Banking Has Never Been Easier

At the beginning of this article, we drew comparisons between the Canadian gambling market and the American one. Aside from the legal issues that were mentioned, it is also worth noting that online casino gamblers in the United States have very few options when it comes to payment methods – this is because some of the federal regulations restrict the use of some financial services such as credit cards or e-wallets for making payments to gambling sites.

Canadians, on the other hand, have a more robust selection of online casino payment methods which gives each and every player the opportunity to choose from the vast range of available payment services. There are, of course, some options that can be said to be the best online casino payment methods for Canadians but it is safe to say that there is something for everyone in this regard.

State-Of-The-Art Security

Safety and security have always been major concerns for online casino gamers and this particular aspect is in tandem with every other vital feature that every online casino should have. If you are looking for an online casino in Canada where real money betting is allowed, then the safety and security of your funds, personal and banking data should probably be at the top of your priority list. As mentioned earlier, Canada has thousands of online casinos sites but not all of them are equal.

So long as you stick to the best Canadian online casino sites, you will never have to worry about this since these sites always go out of their way to ensure that their customers are protected. Checking for security features can be as easy as looking for the names of the organizations that have audited and certified the online casino sites you are considering.

Rewards, Bonuses, Promotions, and Jackpots

Like all great online casinos, most of the online casino sites that you will come across will not only be offering enticing welcome bonuses that you can use to boost your bankroll but they will also have tons of promotions and rewards for you long after the bonus is depleted. All that you will need to do is to make sure that you go through the terms and conditions in order to fully understand how the bonuses, reward, and promotions are awarded.

Progressive jackpots are a very big deal in Canada and thanks to the online casino sites' partnerships with such great game developers and platform providers as Microgaming, Canadian players can enjoy competing for the big life-changing payouts.

Emphasis on Responsible Gambling

Not many countries with legal online gaming companies pay as much attention to responsible gambling as Canada. By studying various aspects of the online gambling industry including revenue distribution, overall, revenues, gambling characteristics and specialized gambling-related data, the responsible gambling campaigners are able to push the agenda effectively.

Real money gambling is often the cause of most, if not all, forms of gambling-related harm that thousands of people may have fallen victim to. Still, gambling is not just a pastime activity but it is also an integral part of our culture which means that it is not going anywhere anytime soon. That said, it is important to ensure that people participate in online casinos gaming activities rationally and with moderation. The very fact that the Canadian online gaming landscape has created room and fostered the existence of such responsible gambling initiatives makes the country one of the best online gaming destinations on the planet.

Conclusion

If you are looking for an exceptional online casino gambling experience, the Canadian online gambling market comes pretty close to perfection. And even though there are places with online gambling services that are almost just as good, there are not many places where the online gambling industry is that liberal. Online gambling enthusiasts from the United States are particularly going to love playing in Canada.

Bob Cole's Final Game for Hockey Night in Canada

Bob Cole is my favourite hockey pxp announcer of all-time. I've hardly been shy about this fact. I wrote about it nine years ago, eight years ago and six years ago. When the stakes are high, nothing beats Bob Cole's poetic flavour and irreplaceable timbre.

As I type this, Bob Cole is calling his final game for Hockey Night in Canada. As discussed on episode 385 of Toronto Mike'd, Bob Cole is being retired. He doesn't want to retire, but his employers aren't giving him a choice. This is the end of the line, whether he likes it or not. And he's made it very clear he's not.

That doesn't sit right with me. I still love his call of a game, and knowing he'd still like to call game, I wish he'd be allowed to continue. I'd like to hear him in the playoffs. I'd like to hear him next season. I'd like to hear him until he's ready to retire.

It was a tremendous run, I just don't know why it has to end.

Does Size Matter?

A veteran radio broadcaster recently shared some criticism with me. He told me he saw I had a guest on that he was interested in hearing from, but when he saw the episode was almost two hours long, he knew he'd never listen. "Nobody's going to listen to one guest for over an hour", he said.

I can't remember the last time I recorded an episode of Toronto Mike'd that was under an hour in length. The professional advice I received was to edit episodes down to an hour. That is, if I cared about mass appeal.

An hour? There have been episodes of Toronto Mike'd that hit the 2.5 hour mark. Every episode with Marc Weisblott from 12:36, for example. Tyler Stewart from Barenaked Ladies and Dan O'Toole from Jay & Dan, as well. And a handful of others.

How many people, like my radio friend, are refusing to listen to my podcast because of the length? I know how many are downloading each episode, but I'll never know how many wanted to but refused to invest that much time. Would I have twice the number of listeners if each episode was an hour? Thrice?

Let's take that Tyler Stewart episode as an example. It's 2.5 hours because, in my humble opinion, the content was compelling for 2.5 hours. I record until I feel the episode has reached a natural conclusion. Sometimes that's 80 minutes in, and sometimes that's 150 minutes in. For seven years, this podcast has been running on instinct.

If I had to edit my conversation with Tyler down to 60 minutes, without sacrificing a sponsor mention, I'd be leaving about 90 minutes of killer content on the cutting room floor. That doesn't sit right with me. But, I could be way off base here. My radio friend holds firm in his belief that nobody will listen. When I point to statistics that show the episode was very popular, he retorts that people may start the episode, but bail somewhere in the middle.

I have more questions here than answers, but I'm interested in your opinion and willing to make changes if it serves the greater good. When it comes to podcasts, how important is length? Would you skip a quality podcast with a guest you're interested in because of time?

Tips for Seniors in Preparing their Taxes

Paying taxes is part of being a citizen that nobody really likes. The rules are too complicated and hard to follow. However, due to their age, seniors can take advantage of several special rules to get a higher tax return. Let’s have a closer look at some of these special rules.

1. Medical and Dental Expenses

Health is what old people talk about the most. This is not surprising, because being old often means spending a lot of time and money on necessary medical procedures. Young people can also qualify for deduction connected with medical and dental expenses, but their expenses need to be high enough to be eligible. Older people who live on low or fixed incomes and incur high medical expenses can easily meet the threshold of 7.5 percent of adjustable gross income. Expect to receive a deduction for artificial teeth, insurance premiums or wheelchairs. More comprehensive information about medical and dental expenses can be found at the IRS website.

2. Higher standard deduction

If you and/or your spouse are older than 65 years, you are entitled to a higher standard deduction. If for some reason you and/or your spouse are blind, you can also get a higher standard deduction. You can find more information about it in the instructions to Form 1040 and 1040A.

3. Taking care of dependants

Soaring living costs are forcing more and more generations under one roof. This often leads to seniors paying for most of the expenses in the family. Having more life experience, you can surely try to teach your children and grandchildren how to save money as they study in college and often use a reliable essay writing service that can write my essay. However, if they are unwilling to change their lifestyle, make sure you claim them as dependents so that you can receive an additional tax break.

4. Tax Relief in Disaster Situations

If you have recently been impacted by a natural disaster, such as a hurricane or tornado, make sure you consult with an IRS specialist. When you are preparing taxes, keep in mind that due to a disaster, you may be eligible to have a deadline extended in filing your taxes or an increased standard deduction based on qualified disaster losses.

5. Be Aware of Changes

The Tax Code is not written in stone and constantly changes according to the whims of bureaucrats and politicians. The IRS recommends that you keep track of the information on the special Seniors & Retirees web page where they publish up-to-date materials on filing taxes for seniors. Check if you have an IRS-certified consultant in your local community who works with the Tax Counseling for the Elderly (TCE) program. These specialists provide free of charge help with filing taxes for seniors over 60 years old. You should also check the website of the department of taxes in your state since each state has different regulations on tax breaks and property taxes for seniors.
