Lou Schizas and Sue-Ann Levy Removed From Global News Radio 640 Toronto

Global News Radio 640 Toronto made a couple of on-air changes today. Both Sue-Ann Levy and Lou Schizas have been told their services are no longer required.

Although I don't agree with any of his politics, Lou has been a tremendous supporter of mine ever since he visited for episode 234 of Toronto Mike'd. He's also been a great help during these past few months as I've launched my own business. He's offered great advice, attended both Toronto Mike'd Listener Experiences, and even referred a client. I'm sorry to hear he's lost this job, but knowing Lou, he's already working on the next chapter.

With the changes at 102.1 the Edge, Q107 and GNR 640, things have been anything but dull this month at Corus Quay.

5 Interesting Gambling Facts

Did you know that Las Vegas is not the best city for gambling anymore? Or that bingo can improve your concentration and short-term memory? Learn five facts about gambling you probably haven't heard before.

Bingo Can Boost Your Brain

Bingo can boost your brain and this fact has been scientifically proven many times. Experts from Harvard University and the University of Southhampton have both written about this topic. In our opinion, bingo online UK sites are the best if you want to start playing this game. Moreover, our memory abilities are getting worse and worse, "thanks" to smartphones, tablets, and calculators. For instance, we no longer need to remember any phone numbers and other things, when everything is on our phones and computers. As the technology improves further, our brain abilities will probably decrease even more. So, if you're worried about your mental health, feel free to play bingo. Bingo can increase your mental speed, improve your memory as well as concentration. Hence, playing bingo is both fun and healthy. In our opinion, no matter how old you are, at least try bingo and see if you like it.

The Citizens of Monaco Can't Gamble in Their Own Country

Yes, you've read it right. Although Monaco is one of the world's top destinations for gambling, their citizens can't set foot in the extravagant casinos in Monaco. This tiny European country attracts thousands of tourists every year and a lot of them come there to gamble. The casino complexes in Monaco are among the most luxurious ones on Earth. Casino de Monte Carlo might be the most prestigious and most reputable casino complex in Europe. It has been active since the year 1863 and it's among the oldest casinos in the whole world. Unfortunately, only tourists can visit it and enjoy its impressive selection of games and luxury. We don't know why Monaco doesn't allow its citizens to gamble, but at least they don't have to pay any income tax. Monaco is a tax haven and the living standard in this country is extremely high.

Panchiko Game

The citizens of Japan love to gamble, but officially, gambling is forbidden by law. However, we are not talking about illegal gambling here. So, how is that even possible? There are special places in Japan that they call Panchiko parlors. They are widespread in the land of the rising sun and thousands of Japanese people visit them every day. Pachinko machines are very similar to pinball machines and slots. Panchiko is a fun and addictive game and the goal is to capture as many Pachinko balls as possible. Furthermore, these balls are both the prize and the bet. After you've finished playing and captured a few balls, you can trade them for different prizes. You can get bottles of expensive drinks, children toys, and other nice things. Moreover, there are also state-owned shops where you can go, bring your balls and exchange them for real cash.

Las Vegas is No Longer the Best Gambling Destination

This might come as a surprise to many people. Whenever someone mentions Las Vegas, we immediately think of gambling and impressive architecture. The first casino in this city opened in the year 1906 and ever since then Vegas has been extremely popular. Millions of tourist, both foreign and domestic, come to Vegas every year to have an unforgettable time and test their luck. However, Macau now boasts the biggest casino on Earth and they earn much more money from gambling than Las Vegas. While Vegas has 169 in-land casinos, Macau has "only" about 50 of them. On the other hand, Macau has a higher number of hotels and their casinos are significantly larger. If you check out the world's ten largest casinos, you'll see that five of them are in Macau and only one in Vegas. Nevertheless, many people still consider Las Vegas to be the most popular city for gambling. This is mainly because of Hollywood movies and famous American TV series. No matter what happens next, Vegas will always remain one of the most famous places on Earth. Nowadays, it's the second best place for gambling, but who knows, it may reclaim the top spot in the future. If it happens, we won't be surprised at all.

The Very First Slot Machine

You might find this unbelievable, but slot machines were invented in the 19th century. The first one appeared in the year 1895. The creator of this machine is Charles Fey. It was a three-reel machine and it had 5 different symbols. A bell would immediately ring if the exact same symbol appeared on all three reels. After that, the player would get his cash prize. Moreover, the highest payout was fifty cents. At that time, it was a groundbreaking invention and it changed the world of gambling forever. Thanks to Charles Fey and some other manufacturers, slot machines have become widespread and incredibly popular all over the globe.

Why It Is Important to Have an Amazing Eye Makeup and How to achieve it

You want to have an appealing look then you cannot ignore the importance of eye makeup. This is one thing that can grab the attention of others and make you feel confident. Despite saying this, one cannot deny that applying makeup on the eyes is a Herculean task. You need to be patient, calm and have an understanding of what you are doing. Furthermore, you also need to know which eyeshadow and what type of eyeliner will suit your eyes.

This is one of the reasons why it is recommended to take help from professional makeup artists. These experts know the tricks to make your eyes not only sultry but also elegant. Fabulive is one such live streaming platform where you can find countless eye makeup videos of eye makeup experts, who are ready to share their skills with you and help you in enhancing your looks effortlessly.

Let’s take a walk through the write-up and learn more about eye makeup and how to achieve fantastic eye makeup with the help of Fabulive.

Why give importance to eye makeup?

Your eyes are a crowd puller, and no dress can look good if you do not have beautiful eye makeup to complement it. Here some of the benefits of proper eye makeup have been highlighted:

  • Boosts up your confidence

  • Complements your overall looks

  • Allow you to experiment with your looks

  • Gives you a dramatic look

  • Helps in taking care of the eyes

How to do a good eye makeup?

Many women struggle in doing good eye makeup. Most of you don't even know about the different types of eye makeup and also if you know the name you do not know how to do it. One of the major reasons behind this is not that you do not understand its importance, but the fact that the technique in applying makeup on the eyes requires professional skills. Interestingly, here some of the ways have been discussed that will help you in applying perfect eye makeup at home. Please scroll down to learn more about it, but before that, you must know what products are needed for perfect eye makeup.

Eye makeup products that you must keep in your kit

Not all are born with a perfect pair of eyes, but if you have proper makeup expertise, then definitely you can make your eyes look appealing. For this, you need a variety of eye makeup products, such as eyeliner, eye pencil, eyeshadow, eye primer, eyebrow pencils, Kohl, mascara, false eyelashes, eye makeup brushes, eye curler, smudge-proof eyebrow powder, etc. These are some of the most crucial eye makeup products that you need to keep in your eye makeup kit.

Once you have all these products in your eye makeup pouch, then it is time to learn how to apply all these things:

More details:

Google play:

Step 1: Clean your eyes

You need to understand that your eyes must be clean before you start applying makeup on it. This means that first, you must wash your face and gently massage the cleanser in the area around your eyes. You must remember that doing it harshly can damage your eyes or tear duct, which must be avoided. You may also look for the tutorials on Fabulive that teach you how to apply exfoliating eye creams.

Step 2: Dry your eyes

When you wipe off the water from your face, do not rub the towel on it. Just put a clean hand towel on your face and let it soak the extra water below and above your eyes.

Step 3: Moisturize your skin around your eyes

Keeping the areas around your eyes moisturized is very important, and that is why it is good to apply eye cream below your eyes. These are extra mild and formulated without fragrance, which can irritate your sensitive skin below the eyes. You can buy the eye creams from Fabulive makeup store, which will also give you a tightening effect and will make your eyes look less puffy.

Step 4: Create a base

Just as you create a base before applying makeup on your face similarly, you must also have a flat base to do eye makeup. Buy a high-quality eye primer from Fabulive makeup store that gives you a flat base and conceals the dark circles and other blemishes flawlessly. A good primer also ensures that your eyeshadow remains for long hours and doesn’t get vanished with rain, sweat, or any other oil slicks produced by your skin. You may also use concealer if your dark circles are not getting concealed with an eye primer. However, make sure you apply concealer before primer.

Step 5: Apply translucent smudge proof powder

Now take a translucent smudge proof powder and the eyeshadow brush. Now, pat the extra powder and apply the rest above and below the eyes. This will ensure that your mascara, eyeliner or even kohl remain in the right place without getting smudged.

Step 6: Use eyeshadow

The next step is to apply eyeshadow, now before you do it make sure you choose the right shade. For this, you may take a look at the Fabulive makeup tutorial on selecting the eyeshadow shade. You can get a variety of eyeshadow options and even beautiful eyeshadow palette on Fabulive makeup store. Make sure you choose the right brush. You may use a larger brush for a lighter layer of eyeshadow on your lids and use a smaller brush for thick and darker layer of main eyeshadow color.

Step 7: Using Eyeliner

Pick any eyeliner (liquid or pencil), which you are comfortable using. However, if you want to get a softer look, then the pencil eyeliner is a better option, and for winged one, you must go with liquid eyeliner. To have smokey eyes, go with liquid eyeliner, and you can check the smokey eye makeup video on Fabulive. You must start with the inside and move to the outer edge of the eyes. It is essential to stay close to the lash lines and fill in the gaps between the upper and lower lash line.

Step 8: Use Eyelash curler and mascara

Once you are through with eyeliner work, then use the eyelash curler and give a dramatic look to your eyes. Now, take the mascara and apply it in a sweeping motion upward. Use one coat if you are doing natural eye makeup, but make sure you do not clump the eyelashes when applying mascara. If you want, you may use false eyelashes as it can stay longer and can give your eyes a fuller and more extended look.

If you want to have a ravishing look, then make sure you give importance to eye makeup. This will make you look gorgeous, and you will feel more confident. There are many more things that you need to know while doing eye makeup and so it is better to check out Fabulive. Here you will also learn how to do the eyebrow makeup and different styles of eye makeup, such as cat-eye makeup, natural eye makeup, etc.

You Should Have a Podcast - Here's Why

I'm a big fan of podcasting as an effective communications channel. I saw the potential way back in 2005, empowering Humble and Fred to continue broadcasting without the support of radio, and I started my own podcast way back in 2012. To say I'm passionate about this medium would be an understatement. It's part of my daily life, both as a listener and as a creator.

I reference December 2015 as the tipping point for podcasts in terms of mass acceptance. That's when Serial dropped, and normies discovered how to subscribe and listen to podcasts. Part of the problem, in my humble opinion, is the name "podcast". It's intimidating for those who aren't particularly tech savvy. I spent many hours explaining to people how you subscribe and how the syndication functions. It's so simple, but that name makes it sound awfully technical.

If there is any message you wish to communicate to any group of people, I'm a huge proponent of podcasting. There are several reasons you should have a podcast.

There are typically three target audiences for business communication: employees, customers, and prospective customers. Yes, there can be more, but these are the big three.

Each of these audiences needs to be messaged to in a different way. Podcasting is a fantastic medium for accomplishing this!

For example, let's say there's a big Bay Street financial company with hundreds of clients. They could use podcasting as a way to discuss news and share industry changes relevant to clients. Because this is a podcast for clients only, this podcast wouldn't be indexed by Apple, Google, Stitcher, etc. The feed for this podcast would be shared privately via email.

Another example of a highly targeted podcast that wouldn't be publically available to subscribers is a podcast for employees. Communication with employees of larger companies can be very difficult, and let's face it, email and intranets don't make it much easier. Imagine a fun but informative 20 minute episode dropped once a week. It could be 5 minutes of fun, lighter news of relevance, and then 10 minutes on news and events affecting staff, and then product and/or service updates, tips for communicating with customers, birthday shoutouts, and more. If done properly, employees will begin anticipating new episodes and everyone will be reading from the same handbook.

And of course, there's communicating with prospective clients. This one is a little trickier, because your employees and customers will listen to your podcast, but who wants to listen to a salesy vendor podcast? The goal here is to create a podcast that adds value to those interested in your industry or space. If you were a real estate agent, for example, with a primary focus on The Junction, you'd create the best Junction podcast with valuable content for any resident of the Junction or anyone interested in The Junction. Then, in the final segment, there's a pivot to homes listed or sold in the neighbourhood that week and, of course, a reminder that you're the neighbourhood expert and all buyers and sellers should speak with you!

I can't tell you how much I've learned from podcasts. A podcast listener is paying attention, pausing when they can't listen and picking up where they left off when they can. Podcasting is a tremendous communications channel.

If you have a brand, or if you represent a business, you should have a podcast. There's no better way to stay top of mind and present yourself as an industry leader than by producing regular, professional sounding podcast episodes.

If you're an artist who specializes in Anime, start an Anime podcast in which a different comic book is reviewed and discussed in detail each week. Present yourself as the Anime expert you are! When people think Anime, they'll think of you. When people search Anime podcasts via Apple Podcasts or Google Podcasts, they'll find you.

Back in the day, people would self-publish books and then use that book as evidence that they were a thought leader in the industry. Speaking engagements, consulting opportunities and even fame would follow. John Smith is a widget expert. Afterall, he wrote "The Art of Widget Creation"! The modern day equivalent is having a podcast on the subject. In theory, even if nobody listened to the podcast, it would have great value simply because it exists. Think about that!

Monetization via Sponsorship

If you have a good podcast, and make people aware of it, you will get subscribers. People love to tell their friends and family about that great podcast they discovered. You'll tell two friends, and they'll tell two friends, and so on, and so on, and so on...

With an attentive audience, there's an opportunity to monetize the podcast via sponsorship. If a business wants to target your podcast listeners, a partnership opportunity will present itself. Right now in the United States, podcast revenue is robust. Canada is lagging behind, but it's best to be there when we catch up!

It's Fun

Broadcasting a show is great fun, even if it's just for your friends and family. Heck, maybe it's just you and a friend who love to talk Leafs or review movies or share retail horror stories. Some call these vanity podcasts, because they aren't intended to generate revenue or become popular with the masses, but I prefer to think of them as good wholesome fun.

I will tell you this... I started podcasting because it was fun, and I continue to podcast because it's fun. I'm a big fan of fun.

You should have a podcast, and I'm here to hold your hand throughout the process. TMDS will handle the A-Z, you just have to bring the content. We can record at my studio, or I can bring my studio to your office. I've got great references, so ping me if you'd like to discuss further.

Ruby and Alex Carr Will Be New Morning Show on 102.1 the Edge

I honestly didn't see this coming. Corus has announced the new morning show on 102.1 will be Ruby and Alex Carr, a brother-sister duo currently on the air in Vancouver. Their Toronto show will launch in January 2019.

I sure got some bad intelligence on this one. At one point there were rumblings Dean Blundell was coming back to CFNY, but I quickly determined that was a lie. Then, as recently as yesterday, I heard a non-compete had to expire before the announcement. I was sure that had to be Adam Wylde.

It's interesting that the new Edge morning show is from Vancouver, because they just started a new afternoon drive show that comes from Vancouver. You can read more about busy Meredith Geddes here. 102.1 is just loving Corus's Vancouver talent these days.

Although the press release didn't specifically say Ruby and Alex Carr were relocating to Toronto, I have to assume that's the case. [Confirmed: they will do this show live from Toronto.] I've also heard rumblings that Meredith's Toronto afternoon drive show from Vancouver is only temporary, but I'm on a bit of a losing streak with regards to Edge rumblings, so take that with a grain of salt.

Humble and Fred Now On Funny 820 (CHAM-AM) Hamilton

Humble and Fred were cancelled by SiriusXM Canada this past summer, but they're back on terrestrial radio starting Monday at 7am as the new morning show on Funny 820 (CHAM-AM) Hamilton.

This is the first time Humble and Fred have been live on a terrestrial station you could get in the GTA since 2005 when they were the morning show at Mix 99.9. Then, Fred was fired, Humble was fired, there was a short-lived experiment on a Kingston station and the recent stint on satellite radio.

Will the boys remember how to suppress their swears? We'll find out Monday. I'll be making an appearance on their new show after 8am on Monday and then they'll visit my home studio for an episode of Toronto Mike'd.

How to Find the Right Online Casino

An online casino is an internet service that allows players to bet on games using money at their convenience. Players can, therefore, play using their phones, PCs and other mobile devices anywhere anytime. There are several online casinos where one can decide to play depending on their preference. The process of choosing the right online gaming house can at times be very tedious. A gambler needs to choose a gambling site that fits their specific needs. You will find previews and guidelines in their sites that guide you on how to operate them. Online casinos should be reliable and safe, and one needs to feel comfortable when depositing their cash. The right casino for a player should have a variety of games and most importantly those that they enjoy playing. Quasar gaming will look deeper on things you should look at to get the right online casino.

1. Get a Reputable Casino
The best gambling site is one with a thriving and long history. When gambling with real money you need to get a site you can trust. If the platform has a good reputation, then it means that other gamblers were comfortable with it. Finding a trustworthy casino is one step to winning and having a great gambling experience. A reputable gaming house should be licensed, and the customer service should be reliable and friendly. Analyze the level of reliability of the gambling site. Ensure that they are licensed by a well-known licensing company. This assures you that all the gambles in the site are fair. Authorities use eCogra testing agency to audit the random number generator of a gambling platform.

2. Should Offer a Variety of Games
The right casino has a selection of games for a player to choose from. Check their libraries and see if they offer various categories of games from table games, slot games, and video poker. One special type of game a site should have these days are Live Casino games. This allows a player to gamble just like they were in a real casino. Gamblers, therefore, get the convenience of player interaction right from their homes. The online gaming house should have a balanced library for players to have options to choose from. Remember to check if your favourite games are featured in the library.

3. Appropriate Banking Methods
When you have found a reputable casino and one with the games you desire to play the other thing to look for is their banking methods. If you are playing with real money, you will be required to deposit money into their account. Most sites require having money deposited through Mastercard or Visa. Others, however, prefer using Bitcoin, Neteller, Paypal or Skrill. In most cases, gamblers can only withdraw money using the same account they used to deposit. Be informed about the methods and also the currencies used in the gambling sites. You also need to be careful with the withdrawal timeframes and pending time. The right site for a player is the one that uses a banking method that works for them. You do not want to have a nightmare when it comes to withdrawing your wins so be cautious about their banking methods.

4. Get One with the Best Promotions and Bonuses
If the gambling sites you are considering by now have met the above features then check on the bonuses, they have to offer. All the best online gaming houses have a promotion for their players at all times. A gambler should, however, be careful about these bonuses for we are all aware that there is nothing like a free lunch. All the promotions and bonuses given to players come with well-camouflaged betting requirements. Always be extra careful with gambling sites with extremely enticing promotions for they may not be for real. Read the terms for every bonus in a site and see if you can abide unto them. The right casinos will have decent requirements for their clients. The best gambling site for you is one whose bonuses are aimed at your game of choice and specific banking method. Some of the promotions offered by online gaming houses are welcome bonuses, cash back guarantees, and free spins among others. Welcome bonuses are given after opening an account, and you will access them after clearing the play through requirements. The best casino for a player is the one with favourable terms and conditions for their promotions.

5. Customer Service
Customer support is significant for every online casino. The only way you can communicate and have your queries answered in online casinos is through customer support. Gamblers trust online casinos with their money and thus their queries should be answered fast and to their satisfaction. The right gambling site should have ‘Live Help’ or ‘Live Chat’ features for players to reach customer service team fast. The customer support should be opened 24/7. Gambling sites should also give their phone numbers and email on their sites. They should also provide contact information of the higher authority of the gambling site. You are therefore sure there is someone to turn to if your queries are not met or for unsolved complaints.

6. Wrap Up
Choosing the right online gambling site enables the player to play professional gambling games in the comfort of their homes. This is an excellent way for gambling enthusiasts to spend their free time. Ensure that the software used by the casino is compatible with your mobile device or computer. With the above information, it should be easy for any player to get the right online casino to gamble safely.

David Shoalts and Gare Joyce Comedy at #TMLX2

Last night's #TMLX2 was awesome. In addition to the live music there was stand up comedy from David Shoalts and Gare Joyce. I now have in my possession a recording of these sets, which I share with you all now.

Be warned, there are no swears, but some of the content is not for the faint of heart. In Gare's words, "no profanity, extreme vulgarity".

Meet Meredith Geddes. She Voice Tracks 102.1 the Edge's Afternoon Drive Show from Vancouver

Earlier today, I was discussing the morning show at 102.1 the Edge with Dani Stover, who used to produce the Dean Blundell Show on that station. I find it curious that 102.1 hasn't launched a new morning show yet, despite the fact it's ratings season.

Marc from 12:36 tells me 102.1 the Edge has a new afternoon drive show, and it's called Meredith & Tom. But here's the kicker... Meredith is doing the show from Vancouver, although I'm told Tom is actually here in the big smoke.

Meredith's show on Vancouver's CFOX is called Meredith & Jeremy. This show is live and local.

But wait, there's more! Meredith Geddes also voice tracks a show for London's FM96. This one is simply called Meredith Geddes.

And finally there's Winnipeg's Power 97 where, you guessed it, Meredith Geddes is voice tracking a show. This one is simply called Meredith.

There's a lot to unpack here. Firstly, let's not bury the lede. 102.1 the Edge now has an afternoon drive show that's not live and local. Yes, voice tracking is gaining popularity, because it's so much cheaper, but you'd think the morning and afternoon drive shows would remain live and local. You'd think wrong.

Meredith Geddes now hosts four different shows in four different markets with four different program names. Does Jeremy know about Tom? How much is there to say about her love for cats? Will Meredith also be named the new 102.1 the Edge morning show?

Stay tuned...

Thank You For Coming to #TMLX2!

Last night #TMLX2 went off without a hitch! Well, there was one wrinkle when Splash'N Boots got held up in Newfoundland where they're recording at Alan Doyle's house, but everything else worked out perfectly, including the weather.

The Royal Pains were awesome once more. Seriously, you should hire this band. They're amazing.

David Shoalts and Gare Joyce brought the funny. I didn't expect to laugh so hard. Kevin McGran from The Toronto Star took video with Gare's camera, so I'll see if I can't share both sets. Very funny stuff.

A number of past guests made the trip and it was great to see everybody again. I saw Mike Wilner, Lou Schizas, Keegan Matheson, Dahlia Kurtz, Humble Howard Glassman, and of course, Hebsy. Even Andrew Stoakley and Elvis were there!

And of course, so many fantastic listeners! LieveFamke and her husband Juan returned with name tags for everyone, bsmntdwllr73 was back, as was Rick C in Oakville, Rush Mike, Steve H., Michael Lange, Joe, Andie and James. And so many made their first appearance at a TMLX, including Tyler, Ian, Greg, Brother Neil, Dawn, Doug, Irwin, Harold, Shem, Alice, Andrew, Nicole, Hunter, Jamie, the Dads in the Six, Milon, Mac, Mike M., Stephanie, Stephanie's cousin from Pickering, and so many more I'll remember two minutes after I click "publish" on this entry.

Thank you for listening, thank you for your emails, your tweets, your comments, your support, and for being there last night. Here are some photos from #TMLX2.

Great Canadian Company, Great People: Paytm App Review Part 5

In the first four parts of this series, we explored the convenience of installing the Paytm app on your smartphone and setting up your Paytm account for easy bill payments, how easy it is to earn Paytm points and redeem these points for fantastic rewards, and the fact there is absolutely no fee or hidden charge. As I wrote in part 4, it doesn’t cost you money to use Paytm, it saves you money.

Paytm is an app that sits on my Android phone, and if I’m solely judging it on the technology, ease of use, functionality and rewards, it’s a winner. But what about the company behind the app? What about the people? I rode my bike to the Paytm Labs in downtown Toronto to meet the hard-working Canadians behind the service.

Great Canadian Company, Great People

I spoke with several Paytm employees, from developers to QA to Customer Care, and what I witnessed was great passion for the service. Not only do these proud Canadians service Canada, but they also service Paytm clients overseas.

Great Canadian Company, Great People

Great Canadian Company, Great People

There’s a true sense of entrepreneurial spirit with inspiring icons celebrated throughout the office. When you think about it, the Paytm app is designed to help everyday Canadians with their personal finances. It’s something that affects every Canadian adult from the Pacific to the Atlantic. The technology and security is great, but the people are even better.

Great Canadian Company, Great People

At Paytm, you can see they work hard, but you also see they value work-life balance and encourage play and, my personal passion, cycling to and from the office.

Great Canadian Company, Great People

How Many Foreign Students Come to Study in Toronto

Canada is often considered an attractive destination by many foreign students and each year more than 300,000 young people complete their higher education in this country. Their quality education and international prestige are the main reasons, but it also has an influence on university fees being cheaper than in other English-speaking countries such as the United Kingdom or Australia.

Canadian legislation is quite open when it comes to immigrants, which helps foreign students feel comfortable and welcomed in the country, and many even choose to establish themselves in the country and work after finishing their studies.

Speaking of numbers, the amount of foreign students who decided to study in Canada has increased in recent years. By 2016, more than 400k students were registered in the country, which is twice the amount of those registered in 2007. However, it could be said that Canada hasn't yet reached the millions of foreign students who choose to study in the United States every year. Even so, the annual growth of the arrival of foreigners to the country is considerable.

There are several reasons that make Canada the perfect destination for international students:

Quality education

Canada is recognized worldwide as one of the countries with the highest level of education, not only because of the wide range of courses and high academic standards with teachers that want your best interest and even the possibility to buy an essay in Canada, but also because it is a country that opens its doors to foreigners from all over the world every year. This allows students to live more enriching interpersonal experiences.

Cosmopolitan cities

If there is something that distinguishes Canada is the diversity of the population it has, all cultures, religions, and nationalities come together in this country to make it one of the most cosmopolitan in the world. From coast to coast, from Toronto to Vancouver, cities are built on a multicultural model offering a rich cultural heritage and creating an accessible space for those who integrate into their different communities.

High level of security

Life is not all guns and roses in other places of the world. For many third world countries, it can be a relief to be able to live in a country where safety, cleanliness and public transport are the first class is a key element when choosing a destination. The experience of walking quietly, without having to be alert of cars respecting traffic and always clean streets, is something that perhaps more than one foreigner longs for. Canada is a country with a very high standard of living, and this is reflected in its level of public safety and in its internationally recognized health system.

Nature everywhere

If you are a nature lover, Canada will simply fascinate you. With 50 parks and national reserves throughout the country, you will never need a place to sightsee in the company of friends or a picnic on a summer day.

Even the largest cities, such as Toronto, offer green spaces everywhere, with their 10 million trees and the famous Niagara Falls a few kilometers from the city. On the other hand, Vancouver offers so many sports activities that you'll never get tired of enjoying them, from skiing in the winter to sailing or canoeing in its lakes during the summer.

Learn English with locals

Choosing a destination like Canada to learn English is one of the best decisions you can make. The language education opportunities are very varied and first class. Being in such an international environment but with native teachers and also getting to know many local Canadians, will help to learn the language faster.

Possibly a country with so much to offer from the point of view of the quality of life and education is the reason why Canada is the favorite destination for students from all over the world.

Why are Online Casinos Becoming so Popular?

Despite the fact that many countries don't allow internet gambling, the number of people who visit online casinos is significantly higher than the number of people who go to traditional ones. We shouldn't be surprised by this fact. Virtual casinos are more convenient, as you don't have to leave the comfort of your home. Every adult who has an internet connection can access them. Moreover, they offer nice bonuses to their players and people who want to join. Also, many casinos provide you with a mobile platform so that you can gamble even when you're away from home. Every year they are getting better and more modern, so now most people prefer to gamble on the internet. Atlantic City is a prime example of that. While many casino complexes in this city are struggling to survive, their online gambling industry is growing rapidly. And this trend is likely to continue.

Some virtual casinos offer more than 2000 casino games and the gaming experience is as realistic as it gets. At the best virtual casinos, you can find any type of game you can possibly think of. So, whether you're looking for free slot machines with free spins no download games or Pai Gow poker, it doesn't make a difference because you'll easily find them. Hence, it's obvious why virtual casinos are becoming even more popular. Furthermore, some virtual casinos focus on only one type of game. We can come across bingo websites, poker websites, and even websites that just offer slots. Of course, it all depends on your preferences and what you're good at. If you want to play bingo, you can find a virtual casino with many bingo games or register on a bingo site. We can assure you that you'll easily find something that's very suitable for you.

Strong Competition

It has been 24 years since the first online casino was established and nowadays there are countless of them. The ongoing battle between gambling sites is interesting to observe and all of them are trying to find a good way to stand out from the crowd and attract the most customers. Competition is good in any industry and the same goes for internet gambling. Strong competition means better quality and more choices. Even if you're looking for something specific, for example, a bingo website with a mobile platform, you can find plenty of them. Naturally, there are many online casinos that are unreliable and unsafe but those ones are now in a bad situation. That is because the number of good and trustworthy casinos keeps growing and because it has become easy to find a reliable one. Moreover, according to most forecasters, the online gambling industry will continue to grow rapidly. For us, their prediction is hardly surprising. Just think about blockchain technology, virtual reality casinos, eSports, 3D slot games, the reasons are endless. We cannot wait to see what the future will bring.

Online Casinos vs. Traditional Casinos

Many people believe that traditional casinos are much safer and they're afraid of online frauds. However, today we can find numerous reliable online casinos that have a fantastic customer service and an undisputable reputation. Furthermore, online casinos are more convenient. Thanks to them, you no longer have to dress up, leave your house and drive long-distance to enjoy casino games. Besides that, if you decide to join a virtual casino, there's a very good chance you'll get a bonus. They do it in order to attract more players and there are bonuses and promotions that help them persuade their older members to remain loyal. Virtual casinos are less time consuming and if you just want to gamble whenever you want and not socialize with the other players, they're perfect for you. Naturally, some people prefer to socialize more, put on fancy clothes and spend time at a luxurious casino complex.

Attractive Bonuses and Promotions

As we have already mentioned, almost all virtual casinos have interesting promotions and bonus offers. For instance, many of them will match your first deposit and some of them will even match your first two, three, and more deposits. On top of that, you can come across gambling sites with a no deposit welcome bonus. That means you can simply make a new account and immediately get your bonus. Obviously, they are the best because they allow you to try out a gambling site you like absolutely for free. Even if you don't win anything, you'll have a lot of fun playing. Furthermore, casinos have VIP programs for their loyal members, high roller bonuses, free spins deals, and more. All of them can bring you a nice prize and they are perhaps the biggest perk of online casinos. But keep in mind all of them have certain playthrough requirements and rules you have to pay attention to. Sometimes their requirements are impossible to meet, so make sure to read their terms and conditions carefully.

No Fees, No Surcharges, No Worries: Paytm App Review Part 4

In the first three parts of this series, we explored the convenience of installing the Paytm app on your smartphone and setting up your Paytm account for easy bill payments, and how easy it is to earn Paytm points and redeem these points for fantastic rewards. In this fourth part, I will answer the question you’re pondering right now.

When you install the Paytm for your Apple or Android device, there is no cost. The app is completely free. As explained in part 1, you can have it installed and set up with your bills and payment accounts (credit card or bank account) in minutes.

No Fees, No Surcharges, No Worries

When you make a bill payment, using your credit card, bank account or Paytm Cash, there is absolutely no service fee or surcharge. If your hydro bill is $74.22, you will pay $74.22. That’s the amount that will be charged to your credit card, or withdrawn from your bank account. Not a penny more.

I have personally been using the Paytm app to pay all of my bills since October 2017, and it hasn’t cost me an additional cent. But it’s certainly made me money, as I’ve earned many points on my MasterCard that I’ve redeemed for free groceries, I’ve earned Paytm cash that I’ve applied toward other bills, and I’ve earned thousands of Paytm points that I’ve redeemed for free rewards like Starbucks and Cineplex gift cards.

It doesn’t cost you money to use Paytm, it saves you money. That’s because Paytm is completely transparent with regards to how they make money. They don’t actually make any money through bill payments. They make it through their rewards. When you purchase a reward card from any of their vendors, Paytm makes money. So when you pay your bills, collect points and redeem rewards it’s a win-win for everyone!

Install Paytm today and give it a whirl. Paytm’s app is available for your smartphone now at

Can you make money playing Bingo Online

Make money by playing Bingo online- dream or reality?

It may sound too good to be true, however, it is possible! Just so you know, we cannot offer a secret magic formula how to win tons of cash by playing online games, but we can give you numerous useful tips on how to increase your chances of winning!

It’s a common belief among people playing games of luck that when one visualizes himself/herself winning, it will eventually happen. If you follow all the special offers (no deposit, free spins bonus, welcome offers and similar), you will use as many chances as there are to win big cash and attractive prizes. Choosing the right time to play is of high importance because sometimes it happens that during the off-peak time you have exciting tournaments where you can win fantastic prizes and bonuses.

The difference between funded and non-funded players

As you know, many games can be played both free of charge and by depositing some money. There are some significant differences. The main one that funded players have is the full access to the games, and not so high restrictions for money withdrawal as non-funded players have. On the other hand, as a non-funded player, you still have the chance to try out many different types of Bingo games, which will significantly boost your experience.

The question of gambling funds, being an inconvenient one, is the one in common for all the gambles. One should be very smart with the money meant for gambling! Establishing a separate account for this purpose only is an excellent way to avoid potential problems!

More on special offers

In order to attract as many newbies as possible, gambling websites have come up with numerous fantastic deals and offer that grab the player’s attention as soon as one opens the homepage! You can either play free and win some cash or leave some deposit and enjoy all the complete benefits that non-funded players are restricted to.

Among the most popular offers, you will find special welcome offers, no deposit bonuses, andfree spins bonus! You can also win some bonuses and prizes by being subscribed to various social media, or you can refer a friend and win some thrilling prizes!

All these offers are pretty much the same on all gambling websites, but not all of the websites are the same. That’s why you have to be very careful which one will be the one you should trust! We have prepared a brief guide to help you with your choice.

Guide to choosing the best website to play Bingo online

The moment you start searching which are the best online gambling websites, you’ll be dazzled by countless sites with various attractive deals. However, one must be very careful. Go through the gambling forums and see which the best-reviewed sites for playing online Bingo are. This drastically narrows the search. Then see what are the terms and conditions, as well as special offers, such as welcome offers, deposit bonus, free spins and similar. Another important aspect is payment and withdrawal methods. Moreover, you can check out which software these websites use, as this information makes it easier for you to visit the other sites using the same software. Having all these done, you will probably end up with two or three sites, which is more than enough to try your luck!

The art of playing Bingo online

It’s not just random clicking and choosing numbers, but much more than that. If you want to be a good gambler with the potential to become a pro, follow these simple tips! After you have picked a website to play on, make sure you are focused and calm. The best time to play is when there are not so many players, naturally, chances to win more money are higher. Buy more tickets, but not too many. Let’s say six is ideal! When choosing numbers, make a balance! By marking an equal number of high and low, as well as even or odd numbers, you increase the chances to win. And above all, be smart with your own funds! Establishing a gambling only fund will save you some potential troubles.

Final thoughts on online Bingo

Now that you know all the necessary info, consider yourself a well-educated gambler! Good knowledge is an important aspect of gambling! So, be wise and stay calm, choose a reputable site to join to and be smart with funds. These are definitely must-haves when one wants to be a good Bingo player.

Above all, never lose your temper if you fail to win! Bingo is just a game of chance, so the odds of winning/losing are pretty much the same! One should gamble for the sake of having fun exclusively!

Steve Simmons Claims Scott Moore Sent Pro-Shapiro / Atkins Memo to Sportsnet Staff

In Steve Simmons' Sunday Notes, which was posted last night, he dropped a rather startling nugget about Sportsnet president Scott Moore. Here's a copy and paste job from the Toronto Sun column.

The next time you hear or read a Rogers media employee making a strong case regarding the job Shapiro and general manager Ross Atkins have done, ask yourself this question: Is that their opinion, or are they adhering to company policy? Recently, Sportsnet president Scott Moore sent out a memo to staff which included an ardent defence of the work Shapiro and Atkins have done, all but saying to give the guys a break. Which is basically an insult of sorts to the many professionals who work for him …

This claim is a doozy, so I sought corroboration. I'm friendly with a number of on-air Sportsnet peeps, many of whom have visited my home for episodes of Toronto Mike'd. Here's my tweet.

Almost immediately, Sportsnet employee Damien Cox chimed in to say he received no such memo from Scott Moore.

And early this morning, longtime Fan 590 Program Director Nelson Millman shared his experience with such interference from management.

Simmons' claim is quite serious, but I'll need to see or hear further evidence before I'm convinced. If you have further insight, let me know in the comments, or contact me. I'm more than happy to protect sources.

I've been in contact with Scott Moore. He's provided a copy of the email in question. He wrote this last Friday in his regular weekly note to all Sportsnet staff. His weekly note is a roundup of what is happening around the network.

The hockey season is literally a couple of weeks away and baseball is finishing up the dog days and heading into the real pennant races.

For the Jays, we always seem to have a dramatic story to tell, and this year is no different. With the Josh Donaldson story playing out in a bizarre way, we once again have an intriguing soap opera to follow. Of course, we are all over every part of this story.

Yesterday, Stephen Brunt was on The Starting Lineup and put much of the current Jays story into perspective (as he often does well). Fans are ready to blame management as they did with the Bautista story. In hindsight, most fans would have to admit management was right on that one.

What's interesting is that the Jays will continue to be a fascinating story over the next 24 months as we get a chance to see how management's strategy plays out. It's not dis-similar to what happened down the street with the Leafs. You have to go through some pain to get to the next chapter. Look at the similarities between having Austin (sic) Matthews and having Vladdy Guerrero Jr. Both may be franchise players to build around. For us, telling all sides of the story is going to be a fun challenge. But it's rarely boring in Jays Land!

Update 2

In this Sunday's column, Steve Simmons has apologized to Scott Moore. Here's what he wrote.

If I’ve learned anything from all the years doing this, it’s that no matter how clearly you write something, how clearly you express an idea, no matter how obvious it may to be you, someone misinterprets the message or the tone of it. And so it was when Rogers Sportsnet president Scott Moore sent a memo to staff recently, as he regularly does.

The memo was seemingly harmless, if not a little on the cheerleader side. But that’s not what I was told about it from various Rogers staff members, some of whom were concerned that Moore was coaching them to treat the Blue Jays front office with kid gloves. Taking their view of the memo and asking some of the most credible people I know at Sportsnet about it, I wrote an item in last week’s column questioning why Moore would do that and wondering about the editorial freedom of those who report on the Jays at Sportsnet.

Then I saw the memo. And I saw nothing it in at all that drove coverage or opinion in any one direction.

While I may quibble with Moore comparing Auston Matthews and the current state of the Maple Leafs to the rebuild the Blue Jays are beginning with Vladimir Guerrero Jr. there was nothing in the note to staff that I thought, in any way, influenced the direction of coverage.

Apologies to the good people at Rogers — many of whom are friends and colleagues — and to the president Moore, whose words were misinterpreted here.

Reaping Rewards: Paytm App Review Part 3

In part one of this series, we explored the convenience of installing the Paytm app on your smartphone and setting up your Paytm account for easy bill payments, and in part two I explained how easy it is to earn Paytm points. In this third article, I’m going to show you how you can redeem your Paytm points for rewards.

In my Paytm app there’s a handy audit trail of all the points you’ve collected. As you’ll see from the screen cap below, I have 16,341 points. It seems I have some shopping to do!

Reaping Rewards

Dozens and dozens of rewards are instantly available in the Paytm app from brands you already love. It’s a serious who’s who of brands, with more being added all the time. Here’s a brief list of some of the gift cards available.

  • Apple
  • Starbucks
  • Indigo
  • Tim Hortons
  • Uber
  • Cineplex
  • Best Buy
  • Netflix
  • Hudson’s Bay Company
  • Warby Parker
  • Amazon Canada
  • Esso
  • Gap
  • Instacart
  • Air Canada
  • Winners / HomeSense
  • Lululemon
  • Sephora

I told you there were a lot! That’s just a taste of what’s available right now. With my current 16,341 points I could reward myself with three free $5 Tim Hortons gift cards. That’s free donuts and coffee for doing something I have to do anyway. And, to be completely honest, I’d have switched to Paytm for the convenience alone.

Reaping Rewards

At this point, you’re likely thinking this all sounds too good to be true. It’s more convenient, has helpful notifications so you never miss a bill payment, is easy to use while allowing you to use your credit card and gives you points that enable you to get great free rewards―there must be a fee or service charge or additional cost of some kind, right? We’ll explore this in part 4 of our series on Paytm Canada.

Spoiler alert: there are none. Paytm’s app is available for your smartphone now at

The spaces diversion was first presented, harking back to the nineteenth century. To start with, the machine had an entirely rough plan and must be found in nearby arcade shops. What drew the groups was simply the effortlessness of the amusement. It was outlined absolutely as a session of good fortune: simply sit before the machine, put in a token, and press the lever. The standard machine had three turning wheels with various pictures. In the event that every one of the three wheels agreed with a similar picture in the inside, the player would win the bonanza! There was no real way to impact the result of the machine, since it was altogether intended to be a round of luckiness.

Toronto continues to embrace the tech advances in online casinos

Ontario’s proximity to the USA often provides an eye-opening perspective on just how different Canada can be from its nearest neighbour. The topic of casinos, and the online variety in particular, provides a perfect case in point. Where the US has, with a few notable exceptions like Las, Vegas Nevada and New Jersey, taken a somewhat puritanical attitude, Canada’s approach has been far closer to that of Europe.

A look at Gaming in general

Why do most people visit a casino? It’s not really to try to beat the house and get rich, nice though that would be. The real reason is to have an enjoyable evening in the company of friends. A night out costs money, and the casino has overheads to meet like any other business, so most people accept that a night out at a casino will leave them a few dollars down, and that’s fine.

At first glance, it is hard to rationalise this with the concept of visiting a casino on your PC or smartphone, but that is where social gaming comes in. Anyone who has played Farmville or Words with Friends knows how it works – the game itself is one thing, but chatting with your friends at the same time is the main point of it. This aspect of gaming works equally well with online casinos, and is something that many offer.

Background to Toronto’s casino culture

Casino gambling was first legalised in Ontario back in 1980. This resulted in several gambling establishments popping up across Toronto and in the surrounding suburbs. Not all of these were the most salubrious, and most disappeared as quickly as they arrived. Today, the only land-based casino within the city limits is OLG Slots, which is within the Woodbine Racetrack, out near Pearson International Airport.

As online casinos grew in popularity, these were similarly legalised. While there is only one such site that is operated at the provincial level, the big difference between online gambling in Canada compared with in the USA is that there is nothing to stop residents from visiting offshore sites, and they face no legal consequences for doing so.

Given the somewhat scant offerings as far as brick and mortar casinos are concerned, the online revolution has led to more people than ever participating in everything from slots games to roulette to poker. Technological advances are making these virtual pastimes ever more engaging and closer to the real thing.

Taking it to the next step with Virtual Reality

Virtual Reality has been a hot topic in gaming over the last year or so, with both the specialised headsets and the smartphone accessories becoming big sellers. The technology is still in its early stages, but is being adopted faster in the casino sector than in any other.

For one thing, a spinning roulette wheel or a turning card are both relatively easy effects to create. For another, though, when taken in combination with the social gaming aspects, it is a perfect way to enhance the overall online casino experience.

As the technology continues to evolve, a night in and a night out will become gradually harder to tell apart.

Collecting Points: Paytm App Review Part 2

In part one of this series, we explored the convenience of installing the Paytm app on your smartphone and setting up your Paytm account for easy bill payments. In this second article, I’m going to explain how I collect points doing something we all need to do anyway.

There are actually multiple ways I earn points with Paytm Canada. In a very real sense, I’m double-dipping, and it’s completely legal. The first way I earn points is from Paytm Canada, who reward you for every dollar you spend on your bills. For example, if I pay a $117.35 bill (not a random number but an actual bill I just paid with Paytm minutes ago), I receive 118 points. At this moment in time, I have 16,341 points that I can instantly redeem for rewards. I’ll delve deeper into these rewards in part 3 of this series.

There are additional ways to collect points from Paytm in addition to simply paying your bills. For example, you can refer the app to a friend and collect 5,000 points and you can earn bonus points for paying three and five different bills in a single month. And now you can conveniently "set it & forget it". Amazingly, Paytm has gamified bill payment.

Collecting Points

In addition to the points you earn with Paytm, there’s Paytm Cash. This is actual money, and you can earn it via the app and then apply it to your bills or the Paytm Rewards. Rest assured your Paytm Cash is safe and secure within the app, as protected as your transactions.

I mentioned I was double-dipping, and that’s because I pay every single one of my bills with my MasterCard credit card, even when that vendor doesn’t accept credit card payment. I can do this because I pay all of my bills via Paytm. Since I pay every bill with my MasterCard, I earn points with the credit card company that results in free groceries. So not only am I collecting Paytm points I can redeem for rewards, but I’m collecting points on my credit card. I love double-dipping, and if you have a credit card that collects points, you can double-dip too!

Of course, I don’t pay every bill with my credit card. Once a month, I have to pay off my credit card, and apparently financial institutions frown upon the idea of paying your credit card with your credit card. For that one bill, I use my bank account. I still get my Paytm points, though!

You’re likely wondering what you can do with all your Paytm points. I’m going to explain Paytm rewards in part 3 of this series. Paytm’s app is available for your smartphone now at

Are Free Spin Bonuses Really That Great?

When it comes to free things, our spidey senses switch on, and we raise the questionable eyebrow to determine whether the deal is too good to be real. Chargeless things are great if they have reasonable or strings attached.

Who wouldn’t want to win the fancy cars often placed in malls during the Christmas seasons for shoppers to raffle it out? Or, the free spin bonus that randomly features on your screen as you spin the Alice and the Mad Tea Party free slots? However, from people’s experiences and our intuition, we often question what will be expected of us to get that free thing. For gamblers, the question is, ‘what’s the catch behind the free spin bonuses?’.

What Are Free Spin Bonuses?

Before we determine whether free spin bonuses are significant or not, let’s first define them. Free spins are additional bonus rounds offered to players after the completion of a specified prerequisite. The prerequisite could be matching a specific set of symbols, creating an account on the casino, making a certain deposit amount in the online casino, playing for a specified time and so much more.

In these bonus rounds, players are allowed to gamble without necessarily spending a coin. If you win the round, you earn real money. If you lose, it’s not a big deal as your bankroll remains untouched.

Two of the most common types are the no deposit and deposit free spins bonuses. The no deposit type does not require you to load any cash up front. You may, however, need to deposit a few coins to withdraw wins. The deposit type is only awarded once you deposit real money in your online casino account.

What to Look Out For?

There are a bunch of factors which determine whether the free spin bonus is really worth it. If its free it should be free, with little to no strings attached. The rewards should not also require you to go out of your way to acquire them. A bonus should only be what the word means.

Requirements to Earn the Bonus Spins

Find out what will be required of you to earn that bonus spin. Some casinos offer bonuses for merely creating an account. Some will need you to make a cash deposit or link your credit card information to provide the bonuses. Others will offer you the bonus for being a loyal customer. As long as you are fully conscious and aware of what you have to do to get the bonus and you are comfortable with it, then it’s all fair. If the requirements are not suitable for you, then, abandon the casino for better deals.

Wagering Requirements

These requirements refer to the additional play requirements before you can cashout. Find out the nitty gritty details of how and when you can withdraw wins from bonus free spins. Some casinos will require you to play a couple of round before cashing out. For example, if you win $500 that is withdrawn in bonus dollars that may require a 50x playthrough.

You would require $2500 in wagers to be able to access real money. As you continue playing, you can keep winning more, so it’s not all that bad if you have the time. Plus, your real cash remains untouched. However, casinos that offer extra spins bonuses without stringent wagering conditions are the best. Choose the spin bonuses with the lowest wagering play through requirements, they can range from all the way to 50x.

Additional Requirements

Read through the fine print to find out what else affects the spin bonuses being offered. Usually, the two listed above are the only factors to consider. Sometimes, though rarely some casinos require you to deposit some amount of money to be able to withdraw the bonus wins.

Most casinos do this to ensure there’s an actual real human being behind the computer.

Similar to what Paypal’s intention when they make a transaction on your credit card with a specific code to verify account identity. In extremely rare cases, bonus wins may only have specific withdrawal channels. If this is the case, you have to be very keen to ensure the methods are accepted in your state and accessible to you.

Our Two Cents

We conclude that the free spins bonuses are great as long as you choose the right ones with favourable requirements. In fact, extra rounds can increase your winning chances. In our opinion, they are extra channels of winning money with minimum strings attached. After all, nothing is entirely free in this world: you have to evaluate those whose costs don’t surpass the benefits.

My Week With a GMC Yukon XL Denali

For the final week of the kids' summer vacay, I borrowed a GMC Yukon XL Denali. To be honest, I'm not sure if "Denali" belongs in the full name of this full-sized luxury SUV, but that word is prominently written on the car so I'm going with it.

Sure, it's big, but how big? Here's the Yukon XL handling all the wood required for the new loft bed my wife built for the two little ones.

And throwing my bike in there was ridiculously easy. Look at all the room to spare.

It turns out Hamilton is the city of waterfalls and home to more than 100 waterfalls and cascades, so we took a road trip to the Hammer to check out a couple of them along the Bruce Trail. This beaut is Sherman Falls.

This is Tiffany Falls, which seems to attract a lot more people.

Note to self: explore more of the Bruce Trail.

It was an amazing week and now that the kids are all back in school, it's time to get some work done.

Here Are the Best Places to Find Roulette in Toronto

In and around Toronto there are plenty of casinos where you can find a fantastic collection of slots, poker rooms and even big blackjack games taking place. However, one casino game that can be quite difficult to find is roulette, especially if you’re looking for different varieties such as American, European or Rapid roulette. Never fear though, we’ve found plenty of places where you can find roulette around Toronto, with the furthest being just a two-hour drive.

Online Casinos

Let’s start with the closest casino first. This is the jackpot (so to speak): no land-based casino can offer as much variety as online casinos, especially when it comes to games like roulette. More often than not, live casinos offer the same exact roulette wheel a couple of times. That’s perfectly fine, but sometimes you just need something different. By playing online you can find the exact type of roulette you’re looking for with ease and then switch to another just as easily if you want to. For example, Mr Green offers both European and American roulette on its platform as well as a complete guide on how to play roulette like a pro. It doesn’t get much easier than that.

Casino Rama

Next up we have a land-based casino situated two hours outside the city of Toronto. Don’t worry, though, the drive is absolutely worth it if you’re a big gaming fan. In addition to well over 2500 slot machines, the casino floor is home to numerous table games including craps, blackjack and - you guessed it - roulette. They’re so into roulette that they’ve created their own guide to the game which you can watch above. Speaking of watching stuff from Casino Rama, the venue also hosts a vast range of live performances so there’s always something to do if you get bored of roulette.

Casino Niagara

Like Casino Rama, Casino Niagara has a fantastic reputation for offering a large array of entertainment for its guests, whether that's games or it's live performances from world-famous acts. There are more than 1300 slots, multi-sport wagering opportunities on various betting machines and live entertainment, but best of all are the table games. In the poker room, there’s High Card Flush, Mississippi Stud, Three Card Poker and Nexus Progressive Five Card Bonus Hand. Then there’s Spanish 21, Blackjack, Blackjack Switch, Casino War and Roulette. Altogether there are over 40 tables, so you’re sure to have plenty to do while you’re there. If you visit the casino’s website you can even download separate gaming guides for each table game, allowing you to avoid any learning curves that may dampen the experience.

These are our top picks for roulette games around Toronto, some of which you don’t even have to leave your home for! Please let us know if you’ve played somewhere else and think it could be a contender on our list, especially if it can be found in our beautiful city of Toronto.

Convenient Bill Payments: Paytm App Review Part 1

As I write this review of Paytm Canada’s bill payment app, I’m listening to Destiny’s Child. “Bills, Bills, Bills” from 1999’s The Writing's on the Wall, naturally.

Can you pay my bills
Can you pay my telephone bills
Can you pay my automo-bills
If you did then maybe we could chill
I don't think you do
So, you and me are through

It’s the great equalizer. From the CEO to the person who waters the plants, we all have to pay bills. Here’s a glance at the bills I personally pay on a regular basis.

  • Property taxes
  • Mobile phone
  • Utilities
  • Natural gas
  • Hydro
  • Mastercard
  • Insurance
  • Internet
  • TV

That, sadly, is merely a taste. It’s something we all have to do and it seems each bill is being paid a different way with a vast variety of alert and reminder systems. For example, my property taxes can’t be paid via credit card, so that one would be paid manually online with my bank. Then, there’s the insurance, which would be paid via direct deposit. The telecom vendor accepts credit card, but if you’re not set up for automatic payments, you’re set up for late fees.

I first learned about Paytm Canada in October 2017 when it was introduced to me as app “for people to stay on top of their bills”. I decided to install the app and see how it worked. I’m glad that I did.

The first thing that struck me about the Paytm app is the convenience. I was set up and paying my bills in minutes. They literally have over 5000 billers in their database and I found each of mine easily.

Convenient Bill Payments

I quickly linked my credit card to my Paytm account, as it’s my preferred method of bill payment, and then my bank account, so that I could pay my monthly credit card bill. I like to pay with my MasterCard credit card because I earn points with it, which I can redeem for free groceries. I’ll elaborate more on this in part 2, but this feature alone would be sufficient reason to migrate all of your bill payments to Paytm.

As a savvy tech user, I’m always concerned about security, especially when finances are involved. At Paytm, they don’t store any of your credit or debit card information on their platform. They use the same encryption technology that most Canadian banks use, which means that your personal card information cannot be accessed. The highest level of security is employed.

An additional convenience is the notifications you’ll receive on your smartphone when a bill is coming due. No matter where in the world I am, I’ll get the notification to pay my telecom bill and a few taps of the phone later I’ve paid it with my credit card. Late fees become a distant unhappy memory.

Even better is Paytm’s new feature “Set it & Forget it”. You can now automatically set up your bills for payment. You simply input the bill amount and recurring frequency (weekly, monthly, etc), select your preferred payment method (which can be different for each bill) and then have the peace of mind knowing that your bills are being paid and you get to collect points for free rewards.

Imagine a free app that’s easy to install and configure while enabling you to pay all of your bills via credit card, bank account or Paytm Cash (more about his in part 2!) with minimal effort and helpful notifications. Now imagine if this app were able to gamify bill payments so that paying your bills became fun and rewarding. You’ve just imagined Paytm Canada, available for your smartphone now at

Canadian Gambling Laws vs. US Gambling Laws

Even though America and Canada are neighbors, you will find the gambling laws are completely different and don’t follow similar rules whatsoever. Even the history revolving around these legislations are unique in their own ways. Therefore, it’s interesting to look at the differences and how it affects gambling in each country.

With the introduction of online gambling, these laws have become even more exceptional, which also shows some specific changes to sates within each country. Some rules are still unclear, especially when it comes to online gambling and other forms of online games such as poker.

We have created this page, with the help of, to provide you with more information about the laws in each of these countries and how they compare. For those who are considering an online casino from either Canada or America, you’ll find the answers about the opportunities and whether it’s illegal where you are.

How the History of US and Canadian Gambling Law Compare

When looking at the laws from just 50 years ago, we already see major differences for each of these countries. You’ll find the law is somewhat unclear and confusing in most parts as federal and state laws players a role and overlap each other.

In Canada, it’s a bit easier to understand as gambling was strictly outlawed just about all over the country until 1970 when the criminal code was reinforced. This allowed many gambling establishments the ability to obtain a gambling license in some provinces, making it a major turning point for Canadian gambling opportunists. It also meant the country now had the advantage of being able to regulate gambling within their borders.

In the US, this are a little different when it comes to the history of gambling laws. It has also been extremely strict for the most part, especially during the Great Depression and the Gold Rush era when gambling was taken underground as most of the country considered it to be illegal. In 1961, the federal wire act still stated that gambling is considered illegal across most states of the US, but many of those states wanted to introduce gambling opportunities and therefore created their own laws as a way to get around the federal law. Some states even when as far as to create gambling opportunities off-land by offering riverboats that presented various types of casino-style games. These became popular in states such as Louisiana, Illinois and Iowa.

Modernized Gambling Laws in the USA and Canada

These countries saw even more differences with modern gambling opportunities as they went in almost opposite directions when it comes to the legalization of online gambling. In 2006, George W. Bush introduced the Internet Gambling Act that stated it was illegal for a gambling business to accept money from an American player. The law never included any specific details about limiting US citizen from gambling but went after gambling businesses instead. Naturally, this resulted in the majority of online casinos who used to cater to the US to withdraw from the market.

As seen in the history, some states have now changed the laws that were enforced by the federal law, which results in online gambling becoming legal. These states include Nevada, New Jersey and Delaware. Strict rules and regulations apply to establishments catering to players in these states as they need to be licensed by the gambling act of that specific state and need to meet various requirements.

On the other hand, Canada seemingly couldn’t be more pleased with the introduction of online gaming. Some areas within the country even came up with their own gambling sites, offering a large variety of games while also enforcing safe and secure opportunities. Today, Canada remains open for the most part, but there have been some finer changes around what casino need to do before they can cater to the market. However, as a Canadian player, online casinos are widely allowed, but it is recommended to read up on the regulations within your region.

My First Wolfpack Match

If you listened to my Everything You Always Wanted to Know About the Toronto Wolfpack Rugby League Football Club* (*But Were Afraid to Ask) episode of Toronto Mike'd, you know I know very little about rugby. I had also never seen a match live until this weekend. On Saturday, I attended my first rugby match.

I was given four VIP tickets to see the Toronto Wolfpack face the London Broncos in Super 8s Qualifiers action at Lamport Stadium on Saturday. It was a hot afternoon in the city with the air show taking place above, but good company and good grub made for a mighty fun match. These guys are big and tough and you don't realize the punishment their bodies endure until you see it close-up. It's insane.

We won 34-22, putting us in good shape to advance to the Super League next season. I'll definitely be back to watch a match or two then.

The Biggest Developments in Gaming Apps in 2018

Mobile games are responsible for more than 50% of global gaming revenue. Gaming apps are expected to rake in $137.9 billion in revenue in 2018 according to a Newzoo report on the state of the industry. However, although the industry is incredibly lucrative, it also means that there is increased competition for developers. A better way to break out, though, is to stay up to date on the latest mobile gaming trends.

Battle Royale Games Are Making Bank

2017 was the year of the battle royale game as PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds made waves after launching in early access and Fortnite Battle Royale jumped on the trend (and then promptly took over) with its Pixar-styled multiplayer shooting. In 2018, the battle royale trend has come to mobile devices as players yearn to play these games on the go. In addition to the official mobile version of PUBG and Fortnite, we've also got competitors such as Battlelands Royale, and the Minecraft-styled game Guns Royale.

iGaming Apps Are Bigger (and Better) Than Ever

iGaming apps, meanwhile, have been focused on making their existing experiences a whole lot better. We've seen iGaming platforms emerge, providing players with access to hundreds or even thousands of mobile gambling titles including the latest slots. Similarly, the Lottoland mobile app provides a huge amount of choice in allowing people to play international lotteries online. Users can choose from the US Powerball as well as the lotteries that are being drawn across the pond such as the Euro Millions and Euro Jackpot competitions. Some iGaming apps have also begun to expand into new gaming experiences including live dealers that deal cards and spin roulette wheels in front of players instead of the computer being in charge.

AR Games Aren't Just a Passing Fad

Niantic's Pokemon GO has gone from strength to strength since launching in the summer of 2016. The game has now made $1.8 billion in revenue worldwide since launch and that's thanks to the ingenious use of AR (augmented reality) technology. The game uses camera tech to make it look as though Pokemon really are jumping up and down in the real world. And this tech isn't just a passing fad, either. Niantic itself plans to make major developments in AR including making its games look more realistic, collaborative AR puzzle solving and cross-platform multiplayer titles. The tech is a work in progress but Pokemon GO got players interested in it and now it's time to build on that.

The mobile gaming industry is absolutely huge. With so much money at stake and with so many developers and publishers pushing the medium forward, it stands to reason that next year's mobile gaming trends will look a whole lot different thanks to that investment. In fact, we're already seeing some trends emerge, such as cross-platform play (featured in Fortnite Battle Royale) as well as console-level graphics and experiences. It's too soon to know all of the trends for sure, but it's clear that this is an industry to watch.

The Rise of Gambling in Canada

Although we view America, and Las Vegas in particular, as the home of gambling and betting, Canada's gaming industry is on the increase and business appears to be booming. In 2017, Canada took CA$17.3 billion in gambling revenue, a huge amount for any sector, and it looks like the increase won't be stopping any time soon.

Although there are lots of forms of gaming, land and online casinos are still the most popular form of gambling in Canada. There are currently over 100 casinos operating in CA and there are more and more 'big' casinos being created, such as the Hard Rock Casino and large-scale resorts like the River Rock Casino Resort, tempting visitors to more than just the games. It appears that more people are wanting the James Bond-esque glamour of huge, glittering casinos where you can make (or lose) millions in one night - Las Vegas has also been an influence, with many casinos also offering shopping and new stage shows to watch every night.

One of the reasons for the popularity is that the legal gambling age in Canada is 18, or 19 in a few provinces, instead of the 21 years of age that most states in America require. There is a larger pool for the gambling industry to appeal to, and it seems to be working; Great Canadian Gaming, the gaming and entertainment company, reported a 90% increase in their revenue for its second quarter of 2018. Probably unsurprisingly, Ontario is the largest contributor, producing 43% of Canada's gambling income - this can be explained because Ontario is the most populated of all provinces.

Online gambling is also increasing. Where, previously, many online casinos and gaming providers limited Canadian access, the expansion is allowing for more access, which isn't just good for revenue but for the player too. Here is the link to a website where you can learn more about gambling, with up-to-date tips and bonuses for online casinos - you can also play with Canadian dollars, using a Canadian banking system, so it's looking up for anyone in the Great White North. With over 24 million smartphones in Canada, the increase of gaming is unsurprising because now you don't have to go to a casino, which may be far away and costly to travel to.

There is also the expansion of government-owned lotteries which can generate additional revenue, primarily in the leisure sector, without increasing taxation (therefore much more palatable to politicians). Charity lotteries are also very popular in Canada, with $750 million worth of charity lottery tickets being bought in 2011, and 23 charity lotteries in Ontario alone. However, there are doubts about whether enough of the money made in these games actually goes to the charity that people believe they are donating to.

Whether or not they are appropriate for charity, there can be no doubt that Canada's gambling industry is huge and looks set to continue growing as fast as new games, and casinos, can be created.

Top three Canadian NHL coaches

Like many others, the Canadian NHL is a cutthroat sport. Becoming an NHL coach is often preceded by years of working in the lower leagues trying to establish a reputation, in the hope that one day one of the country’s hockey giants will sit up and take notice.

Once in the NHL, it becomes difficult to judge just who the best coaches are, as the success of a team is usually aligned with how good the players. However, this article attempts to break down all those variables and pick out the five best coaches the Canadian NHL has to offer.

3. Travis Green, Vancouver Canucks

While it’s fair to say the Canucks struggled last season, Travis Green’s reputation remains strong, having already reached two conference finals in his career despite still being a rookie in comparison to many of his counterparts.

Green is known for his forthright management strategy, and isn’t shy to let his players know if they’re not pulling their weight out on the ice. He is also very tactically astute, and has been known to operate more defensively against stronger opposition, whilst giving some of his most promising young stars the chance to play against weaker opposition.

Green is pretty stern with the media too, and this will likely stand him in good stead if he’s able to take his team to the top.

Bookmakers are offering odds as high as 25/1 on the Canucks reigning supreme in this year’s Stanley Cup, and it’s certainly worth exploring the online betting offers available online if you think Green and his team will spring a surprise.

2. Todd McLellan, Edmonton Oilers

In his 10 years as an NHL coach, Todd McLellan has reached the play-offs on seven occasions.

While his detractors may say point out that he was in charge of a very strong San Jose side for many of those seasons, and that in recent times he has benefitted from having Connor McDavid on his roster at Edmonton, his record is still incredible impressive. Any coach with a win percentage as high as his must be doing something right.

Despite missing out of the playoffs last year, the Oilers are well placed to make it this time around, with bookmakers placing them amongst favourites.

1. Mike Babcock, Toronto Maple Leafs

This won’t come as much of a surprise to many, as Babcock sparked a bidding war for his services when he left the Detroit Red Wings and became a free agent.

In his 15 years as a coach, he has only missed out on the play-offs twice. He has also won the Stanley Cup once, having coached in three finals.

However, what’s perhaps most amazing about Babcock is that he’s never been fired. Given the volatile nature of the sport, and the short-lived tenures of many coaches, that is some feat.

While the rankings of many coaches beneath him may change in the coming years, Babcock is firmly cemented as the undisputed number one coach out there. At generous odds of around 11/1, he and his Maple Leafs side are second favourites to win this year’s Stanley Cup, so be sure check out the best odds if you’re backing them to bring it home.

Josh Donaldson Traded to Cleveland for PTBNL

How does it end for Josh Donaldson as a Toronto Blue Jay? To quote T. S. Eliot, "not with a bang but a whimper."

But what a bang, and what a whimper! The bang started when Alex Anthopolous sent Brett Laurie and others to Oakland for Donaldson. By mid-season 2015 he had the most All-Star votes in MLB history. Remember his walk-off homer during the pennant race of 2015? He was a key member of the most exciting Jays team since '93 becoming only the second Jay to be named AL MVP.

He was great in 2016 as well, leading the Jays to their second ALCS appearance in a row. Then, a strong but injury-plagued 2017 and a 2018 season to forget. The whimper was heard last night when the Blue Jays traded Donaldson to Cleveland for a player to be named later. That was the market value of the 2015 MVP.

This is the way the world ends
This is the way the world ends
This is the way the world ends
Not with a bang but a whimper.
