Well, I' m first. Goody. It's great being first. My Orioles lost last night. That was no good at all. None of my other teams played. My Cavs need to win. I'm telling you it's Cavs in six or seven. They'll bounce back. Go go Cavs.

Stalky Magee just keeps getting himself into more trouble. With all the charges mounting up, including breaching previous bail conditions, he is extremely lucky to continue getting released on bail.

I was a bit of a fan of Bullards show when it first aired. Possibly me just being a Canadian homer . it's sad to see that way he's derailed his life the last few years.

So my riding season is FINALLY here! between some time constraints ,shitty weather , some procrastination and a bit of a screw up bleeding the rear brake I was late getting The Bandit out on the road but as of Sunday WaHOO.

I have ridden to work since Wednesday and got a ride with friends in Wednesday night. My attitude has improved about 150% . I've even actually been quite a bit more productive at work the last couple of days.

Riding to work is not especially fun of course but OMG is it better than driving even if I do have to dodge a shitload of potholes on the 401.

Speaking of potholes I Really do appreciate the crews filling them in on city streets , i know this year was particularly bad and they are doing there best. Having said that why the F$%K do they fill in let's say 10 potholes in a row skip 7 and the fill in 3 and skip 5 and so on? I saw this on the 401 last year at the ramp from the 409 to the 401 express where those crews filled in 50 feet of a big crack ,didn't fill in the next 50 and then filled in the next 50. Now i'm seeing it in the city too. Not very important i guess (well the 401 crack was I got caught in a similar crack once on a highway in Michigan and was nearly tossed into a guard rail so they can be dangerous for bikes) but seriously annoying to me.

Anyway happy long weekend all!

The Yanni/Laurel thing this week was pretty neat I thought.

A little disappointed that Designated Survivor was cancelled. One of the few TV shows I watched.

Liberal in my neighbourhood, despite being the incumbent doesn't seem to be even trying. Got a call last night (at least not a robo call ahem Doug) asking if they could can't on my support. I replied in the negative and they said OK and ended the call. Not even an attempt to engage me in any conversation.

Mamma Martino's came up in conversation this week. The one time I went - I rather enjoyed their pizza.

We'll go to Mamma Martino now and then... for 3 reasons:

1. It's close
2. It's family friendly, so the kids can be loud and kid-like
3. It's reasonably priced so everyone can get full without it costing an arm and a leg

This election is causing me the most confusion that I have experienced in my 26 years of being able to vote.
I cannot cannot cannot support the PCs with Doug Ford as the leader. I realise that the odds are he will win and win a majority but I can't support a guy who handpicks people like Andrew Lawton and Mike Harris, Jr. I also can't vote for a guy that claims he will lower taxes, cut energy prices, cut gas prices, cut business taxes, end the sex-ed curriculum and also not cut a single service or single employee. It's either disingenuous or sheer stupidity. The math doesn't work (and he wants to change that curriculum, too!)
I have a hard time supporting the Liberals. At least their candidate came to my door looking for support. I am not a fan of the latest Liberal budget. Kathleen, while a savvy politician, is too much of a crusader with our tax dollars. I support helping out the needy but not to the extent of putting the province into further and further debt,.
As for the NDP...just the concept of buying back Hydro One is enough for me to balk at them. It would cost billions over years to get it back. And to what purpose?

So there it is.....we don't have great choices.

May 18, 2018 @ 9:54 AM

Toronto Mike Verified as the defacto Toronto Mike

As the last guy (apparently) who likes Kathleen Wynne, my primary motivation this election is to prevent Dofo from getting a majority. So... I will vote strategically for the candidate in my riding with the best chance of beating the PC candidate.

May 18, 2018 @ 10:04 AM

I like Kathleen but I'm just not a fan of the latest budget. She has done some great things for the province.

Sadly, I think my riding is already sewn up for the PCs. Even a strategic vote won't stop that. But polls have been wrong before and we still have a few weeks.

The 407 breach should be a much bigger news story. But I really think Doug could say he's firing 200,000 public sector workers and ending the Catholic School Board and he would still win this election. The electorate has gone mad.

May 18, 2018 @ 10:13 AM

,'ve opened a can of Politico. Just heat and throwing a metal pot in the Microwave....

May 18, 2018 @ 10:13 AM

Much is made of the supposed high costs of Ontario electricity. While they are expensive selling the utility was just stupid. Look no further than Alberta to see what happens when you privatize things. I often see anti-Wynne types comparing power costs. Somehow they find a price in Alberta to compare too when..there is no set price in the province. It depends who you buy it from. Their are multiple examples of the system blatantly ripping consumers off. It's better to buy it back now than face what will be a price hell down the road. Trust me.

As for voting, what a loser election. Recently KW MPP Mike Harris was turfed from the party. His crime? He was a single guy who casually flirted in text with someone that once worked for the party..years ago. Noted is he was against Ford at the leader. Yeah, that's just a coincidence. Ford is a blowhard idiot just like his brother was. The worst kind of politician surrounded by robot partisans who support him regardless. Kind of like Android users who hate iPhone just because it's Apple. Vive le Revolution. I'll lead it.

May 18, 2018 @ 10:39 AM

re: Toronto Mike: "... my primary motivation this election is to prevent Dofo from getting a majority. So... I will vote strategically for the candidate in my riding with the best chance of beating the PC candidate."

Ding, ding, ding.

Stopping Doug Ford & his slogan/bumper-sticker faux policies is also my #1 priority.

Be it Wynne, be it Horwath .. whomever is strategically the best bet to stop Ford & his bombastic lemmings will get my vote.

May 18, 2018 @ 10:55 AM

@ Irv

I don't disagree that the Ford campaign sabotaged Michael Harris' job. The texts weren't that bad at all. Replacing him with Mike Harris, Jr. is a load of BS. Again, another reason why I don't trust ford.

As for electricity prices....without sounding like a jackass...I don't need a lecture on prices. I will guarantee I am extremely aware of how the price of electricity works in Ontario. Comparing Ontario to Alberta is ridiculous. It's like comparing the price of rent in Toronto to rent in Cornwall.

And Hydro One will only be able to set the price of Transmission (with approval from the OEB) and delivery (if your local distribution centre is owned by them and with approval from the OEB) But I won't get into the nitty gritty details.

May 18, 2018 @ 11:06 AM

My point is Alberta privatized it's system years ago (I believe under Klein). The result was *not* lower power but much higher prices. You also get into these effing contracts which aren't flexible. When I saw Ontario was privatizing I just thought "idiots". Sometimes..privatization is a bad idea. I just got my first 407 bill and dear God, I hope they don't follow that path.

Yeah, the KW Mike Harris did get tossed under the bus. His WIFE was in The Record yesterday talking about it. Not to mention how shady the whole leadership process was. I'm hoping for a minority government to be honest. It'll shake shit up. Politics in Ontario are the worst I've ever seen. Unfortunately I'm stuck here for a while so I need to vote regardless.

May 18, 2018 @ 11:36 AM

In all fairness, the Catholic board should be abolished. John Tory was exactly right years ago (but what ultimately lost him the election). You either fund ALL religious schools, or you fund none and have one public system.

Funding one religious school over another is nothing but discriminatory.

Kathleen Wynne will lose this election over one thing. The sale of Hydro One. She took a publicly built asset and made it private by selling it off. Short term gain, and we'll pay dearly for it in the long run.

That and making everything "FREE". Love it when political idiots mis-use that word. Governments don't do anything for free- they make me pay for it- and I don't even qualify for any of it.

May 18, 2018 @ 12:27 PM

There are now 4 R's in the school system in the U.S.
Riting', Reading, Rithmatic', & Rifles. Another school shooting today in Texas - multiple fatalities. 1 or 2 per month. Enough is enough.

Wynne needs to go. If NDP had a real shot at getting in I would vote NDP, but they won't make it, so that leaves Ford. Either way...we're fucked.

May 18, 2018 @ 3:18 PM

It is what it is

I agree the choices are not attractive. all parties and their leaders are flawed. Therefore my advise would be to vote for the best candidate in your riding.

May 18, 2018 @ 3:36 PM

@it is what is it

No. People need to stop this bullshit of just "accepting" there is no options in politics. Tree huggers and animal lovers get more active in their causes than society does over political corruption. And Ontario is the worst for the whole passive - aggressive "get pissed off" and do nothing at all. Look at BC, people get more wound up over a pipeline expansion than we do over rampant corruption. Maybe we all need to get arrested in the process?

May 18, 2018 @ 4:29 PM

I have 0 clue who to vote for, but most likely going to vote strategic.

Scarborough has some PC signs up, which makes me sad cause they don't care about immigrants, or getting better transit for Scarborough so, yeah. I would NEVER vote for Doug, I KNOW he isn't any different from his brother who I also never voted for.

I am hoping for a PC minority, with the NDP holding the balance. The Liberals need to be taken to the wood shed as we will see the financial kabuki theatre they have been presenting to the tax payers the last few years.
I voted today at an advanced poll as I am going to be away for work when the actual election day arrives, it seems more accessible than it past years, as I usually vote early.
My PC candidate was out last weekend and i had a chat with her, I was a Christine Elliot supporter, she supported Caroline Mulroney. Told her I am a PC supporter, but didn't want the vocal minority and the back room shenanigans of the PC elites to go off on a populist bent if elected. She gave me the impression there are many in the party holding a leash on this element.
Most people I talk (+45 demographic) to want some fiscal responsibility shown, and to get away from this free for everyone mentality, which we know isn't free. I remember 17%+ interest rates, and if they ever even approach 10% the interest alone would be a large chunk of the finances, separate from ever paying it down.

May 18, 2018 @ 10:15 PM

I'm voting Liberal. Why would I want Doug Ford to win. I didn't like Rob Ford, and he got worse in the end. I'm voting the same way as my trainer is voting, Liberal, Jo-Ann Davis. She's my candidate. My Orioles won. That's great. They're the only one of my teams who won. My Indians lost again. Fricken Houston. Also my Diamondbacks lost another one. My Diamondbacks are in a slump as well. Well, my Cavs better win tonight. Yes, Cavs in six or seven. Trust me. Then Cavs will find a way to win the finals.

May 19, 2018 @ 3:27 PM

@Rick C

The thing with the Ontario PC party is they seem to mirror those over on SOWNY. They have a hard head & seem to be stuck in some time warp.

The Ontario PC's can't let go of the past. For reasons I cannot fathom, they imagine that being socially conservative is actually a good idea. And they can't seem to grasp the reality that the whole Common Sense revolution by Mike Harris really didn't resonate with the general public well.

The major problem with Conservatives in 2018 is they're either a bunch of angry old white guys or they're these pissed off Neanderthals that can't move forward in society. They alienate EVERYONE outside their inner circle. Fuck, they can't even hold their own camp together without the infighting coming out. It's now pretty easy to envision that Brown didn't get nuked by Wynne. He likely got turfed by his own party. Same for Mike Harris in KW. I mean fuck, Ford gave the blessing to that nutcase who was focused on anal sex then weeks later boots her ass out. There's less consistency in the party than my late night mixed drinks.

The Ontario PC party are just stupid. They could have found a leader, made a fresh start, but no, they choose one of the most divisive leaders in recent history who has multiple accounts of "talking out of his ass". Maybe the Conservatives might hire someone who is actually SMART!. And someone with MANNERS. I don't know, like a Peter Lougheed type.

Ontario politics is something else. I'm watching the Alta versus BC battle. There's politics. An NDP government in BC against a legal pipeline. The NDP government in Alberta takes great offense and tells them work with us or we'll cut off your oil. Now THAT is standing up for the people that vote for you. Notley has more balls than Trudeau. Christ, if she was a Conservative they'd have a statute of her at Red Sq in Calgary. And Toronto needs a mayor like Notley who says "either you hand over some funding for subways or we'll start withholding our side of the tax system". That's one thing I'll always admire about Western Canada. "Because I've got independence in my veins - Alberta Bound - Paul Brandt. It'll be a long time before I rip of the blue flag and replace it with a Trillium on my biker gear.

May 19, 2018 @ 6:08 PM

Rick C in Oakville

@Irv, totally agree, Dougs a neanderthal, and PC's never make things easy for themselves, as Christine Elliot would have been the most marketable candidate.
Wynne became too agenda driven, and people started to feel she was talking down to them, and she knew better, that kind of arrogance eventually wears out. The Star has an opinion piece from John Barbour today which fluffs up Wynne, but also exposes this side of her politics.
I just hope the " PC ' s better Angels" can wrangle Ford, as Gerald Butts has wrangled Trudeau( I don't mean that in a complimentary way for Trudeau)

May 19, 2018 @ 6:28 PM

@Rick C

The Liberals have just been in power too long and it's allow the rot to creep in. That said I do think the Liberals did a poor job in explaining themselves at times. Their ideas aren't without merit sometimes but the execution is just awful. Examples

1. Higher power prices. Part of the cause of that is the decommissioning of coal power which was scheduled for 2007 initially. They said it would cost more. There is nary of mention that Ontario has almost zero smog days now. Good health comes at a cost.

2. End of natural gas. The Liberals made it sound like we were all returning to baseboard heating. They were really referencing geo-thermal heating and cooling. I've had it in my condo & it's a *great* concept. It's just expensive up front & to retro fit. Otherwise it's cheap as hell. My Calgary condo had it and my winter power bills WITH heat were 30 bucks.

3. Technology. The Waterloo-Toronto corridor ( is the second largest technology area in North America. 200,000 jobs, 5200 startups, 15,000 tech companies. You NEVER hear about this success. And the 6ix is apparently second in line for the Amazon HQ. Instead what we hear about is some auto plant & 1500 jobs and how they get saved. As a tech guy I find it astonishing no one knows this shit. These are well paid and secure jobs and have a future.

May 19, 2018 @ 7:44 PM

I'm really going to be voting Liberal. I don't want Rob Ford's brother. He will probably get into lots of scandals when he gets in. It's Liberal for me. My trainer doesn't know Jo-Ann Davis, but she seems to be someone who will be good. My trainer is voting Liberal and I'm voting Liberal. How about those Cavs. I told you they are going to win. They're the best. Cavs all the way. They will win it in six or seven. Celtics just got lucky. My Indians won. The pen almost blew it though, but they won. Michael Brantly hit another home run. My Orioles and Diamondbacks lost though. My Diamondbacks almost won, but they blew it. My Diamondbacks are in a slump.

Wonder if Q 107 will revive the Jack format with a lot of automation. Current iterations on that format in Buffalo and Vancouver sound mostly bad and previous versions including the one in Toronto were not great if memory serves me correctly.

I wonder when the Jays front office/ownership will push the "rebuild button". There's nothing more demoralizing as a fan to watch/follow than an old, bad team.

Hopefully it's sooner rather than later, the longer they wait to do it out of fear of not selling tickets or whatever pipe dream they have of keeping the momentum from 2015-2016 going, the worse it will get.

It all starts with the trading of Josh Donaldson. Of course, he's done us no favours by reducing his trade value with poor play, but he'll get us something from a contender.

Then, the Vladdy era begins. He had another amazing day at the plate with the Fisher Kings and I tweeted about it and someone replied that they wished he could pitch. I say let him pitch and see what he's got! :)

May 20, 2018 @ 3:54 PM

Yesterday I went to one of the more unexpected fun sporting events I been to in a long time. I went to the Stevenson-Jack Showtime boxing. I just started to getting into boxing and out of the blue this legit World title match (light heavyweights) gets booked in Toronto from it's original Montreal.

I got to the arena at 630pm and the undercards had already started, the main events started at 11:30 and went the full 12 rounds and ended close to 1230 am.

I thought it was a good show, undercard was filled with Canadian boxers (mostly up and comers) and they mostly won against foreign competition. Then the main-event, Showtime puts on a good show, lots of glits and hype but the fight was great, both guys went hard and it ended in a Draw, which was fair as it was really even, Canadian Adonis Stevenson kept the title.

It was pretty short notice the fight, was moved with only 3 weeks left and was reported less than 5,000 people in the arena. The thing is I saw almost know local hype at all, print media followed it, but with the exception of one segment on PTS no TV coverage of any of it at all. I've ranted before how lazy and one dimensional sports media is in this city. Saying it was a great event, hope more of them come to the city.

I was really pullin for the Jets. Had they beaten Vegas I think they could've beaten both Washington and Tampa and bring the cup to Canada. We're way overdue for a Canadian team to win it.
Can't stand Washington or Tampa, so I hope that series goes to 7, let them beat eachother up, then Vegas can take out whoever makes it. Go VGK!

May 20, 2018 @ 11:22 PM

My Indians, Orioles, and Diamondbacks all lost last night. This sucks. My teams aren't doing well either. My Diamondbacks are really slumping now and my Indians are slumping. My Orioles keep losing. My Cavs will win tonight. It will be Cavs in six or seven. My eye is sore today again. There's stuff coming out of it and any little bit of light hurts it. It sucks. I don't use my eyes, but I have them anyway. If I had artificial eyes, I would be in the dark all the time. Well, that's okay. I mean I only have light perception. Anyway, I don't know why my fricken eye is running and it hurts, but it hurts and it sucks.

May 21, 2018 @ 7:59 AM

About the local mainstream/general sports media being lazy or one dimensional -- I guess they may be, but who cares about them anymore? If someone watches a particular sport like boxing, they're going to find the news items, websites, and forums about it on the internet, and not care about whether or not the local TV station mentions it in their newscast.
I went to Mosport to watch auto racing on Friday and Sunday (I stayed away on Saturday as rain was correctly predicted), and the thought never crossed my mind to check if it got mentioned on radio, TV, or newspapers.

How about those Cavs. That's great. We all know the Cleveland Cavaliers are the best. Yes, they'll win it in six or seven. My Indians were off yesterday. My Orioles won. Manny Machado, Adam Jones, and Mark Trumbo had homers. It's awesome. My Diamondbacks lost. Well, my Indians hopefully will win tonight. Eye is better, thank goodness. It's just every now and then it runs and any bit of light bugs it. I don't need lights anyway.

Re: Venezuela election

A rigged election system, people being given food to get votes, Maduro putting rivals in prison, etc. In short all that is not a democracy.

Sounds like a great place to buy crude oil from versus evil Alberta.

May 22, 2018 @ 11:04 AM

@Irv - spot on! We should realistically be using our own oil - and it isn't like they have used the oil revenues to even help their citizens, ugh! Trinidad is the same. Things get worse and people never see the oil $$.

Meanwhile, my car passed its emissions test, so life is wonderful for two more years. Going to try to stretch this baby out until 2020, and perhaps grab a new car then. The place I did my two tests is closing in June, as the owner doesn't see much revenue now from the place.

May 22, 2018 @ 1:25 PM

Yeah, the emissions test is a waste of time and money (the repairs). If you want clean air then encourage transit or people to cars. They're cleaner than the old vehicles are. As for oil, I find the protesters baffling. Without question the issue of pipelines needs to be discussed but buying oil from Saudi Arabia over Alberta is stupid.

I'm glad I don't own a bike at the moment. They take premium and it's like "Holy Vancouver" lol

May 22, 2018 @ 2:10 PM

I have a feeling that with both Lamorello & Hunter gone from the Leafs & with the hiring of Dubus this team could be in turmoil next year. Hunter was more respected through out the league than Dubus. I'm not saying Dubus was a bad choice but there was a MGT. staff that were experienced & good with their jobs. Something had to give & it did. Dubus has a lot of work to do this summer, signing players & hiring somebody to look after the scouting staff which Hunter headed. Predict Hunter goes back to London Knights for next year as owner & waits for an opportunity in NHL as all GM jobs are now filled. My sisters nephew Josh Anderson (now in NHL with Columbus) played for the Hunters in London for 3 years & credits them both for his rise to the NHL.
Good luck to bor Lou & Mark as you both made the Leafs what they are today.
The Shanaplan continues!!!!!!!!!!

May 22, 2018 @ 2:26 PM

Irv - Yeah, the parts I needed were tiny, and over $200 - that's ordering one via RockAuto which my brother swears by. I am going to aim for a newer car in a couple years, but I doubt I can afford a car so new I wouldn't need an e-test LOL.

I agree on the pipelines, we should be more careful about where we run them through - and how it affects the surrounding communities (who the companies could care less about) - Trinidad has amazing gas prices, because we don't need to go anywhere else for it. Canada should do the same!

Ooof, premium is a doozy indeed. I am glad I use plain old regular! I wonder when prices will return to "normal" :/

May 22, 2018 @ 3:23 PM

I will vote for whoever has the best chance against Doug Ford. Us Canadians owe it to ourselves to keep Trump style populism the hell out of here.

May 22, 2018 @ 6:33 PM

It's likely gas prices are subsidized in Trinidad. Oil prices are in US Dollars so someone has to buy that oil at that price. Some countries "give it away" to their citizens because they can. Unfortunately you can't do that forever. The most famous place for doing this is Venezuela which now is broke and can't feed it's people. But they filled up for 10 cents a litre. Myself I'm all for high gas prices. I think it spurs on alternative energy which can't come soon enough.

PS. Can you pick me up a goat roti please? I'll pay you. In American dollars.

May 22, 2018 @ 9:00 PM

Jason from Sudbury

High gas prices to a point...$1.40 a litre is flatout bullshit. It should never be above a buck a litre. Never.
What I don't get is, why can't we refine our own gas? We have the resources. But no. Instead, we sell our oil to the states, then buy our gas from them at a mark up.

May 23, 2018 @ 1:04 AM

Well, how about those Indians. That was a great win over the Cubs. Trevor Bauer pitched a gem. Jose Ramirez hit a home run. He's so awesome. My Orioles and Diamondbacks both lost though. That's no good at all. My Cavs will win tonight. Yes, it will be Cavs in six or seven. Then they will win the championship. They can do it. I'm still voting Liberal. There's no way I'm voting for Doug Ford. My trainer votes Liberal and I vote Liberal.

May 23, 2018 @ 7:20 AM

Irv - yes, Trinidad is having those issues. We had cheap gas, cheap schooling, and now they are having to tax people on all sorts of things to continue making $ for the country. It's a shock to the nation. I hope we never become as bad as Venezuela, but our politicians don't care - they make their $ then leave the ruins behind.

I wish we could use our own oil but sell it to other people :P And yes, one goat roti is coming your way!

May 23, 2018 @ 9:12 AM

I found this place in Brampton called Lena's which serves great roti. It's delicious. One thing I missed in Western Canada was good roti & good jerk chicken/goat/oxtail. It was just hard to find.

From what I just read oil production has fallen by almost half since 2004 in Trinidad. That's bound to hit anyone along with the lower prices. Venezuela is just absolute corruption. It's worse than Brazil and that's saying something. People here have no idea.

Side Note: Drake's latest tune definitely stole the samples from this. Just heard it on Beats 1

May 23, 2018 @ 10:26 AM

Irv - I live in Scarborough, so I have a couple good roti spots out here too!

Yeah, they are now having to cut back on free education, charge people property taxes, and bunches of other stuff. :/ Plus the ever on going crime, it is no bueno.

Oh yeah, well Drake didn't steal it, he sampled! It's a great sample - definitely a summer song for me :D

@H.o.E I guess you're not wrong, but it just really seems that back in the day with a single TSN channel there was more variety. I remember them having programs on motor sports, boxing, world sports etc. Now with TSN having 5 channels and Sportsnet 6. It seems like TSN mostly has annoying ESPN shows of people yelling at each other (the only one I would bother watching is PTI) and sportsnet even worse most of the day is Jays in 30 and repetitive Plays of the month on a loop. I miss the Canadian produced shows that isn't baseball, hockey, CFL.

I am firmly in the ABK camp (anyone but Kathleen). Is it just me or would the PC's have a 99.9% chance of getting a majority with Christine Elliott at the helm rather than Doug Trump?

I'm with you, "Nice For What" is my favourite Drake song in years. The Lauryn Hill sample is eargasm stuff, just amazing. Even the Big Tymers sample in the song is great.

Can't get enough of this track, really excited about his upcoming album now solely because of this song.

Urooj Islam - I am feeling it! The next album should be good indeed. My friend who loves him snagged tickets to his August concert so she is over the moon. I don't love him that much haha, but it should be an amazing time!

Nice for What is very strong. If it has legs, it could be the song of the summer.

May 23, 2018 @ 3:35 PM

I think "Nice for What" is a really good song. It sounds great in the SUV. As a long time dance music fan, I find Drake really has it for making good upbeat high tempo dance/urban songs. I had no idea it was a Lauryn Hill sample though until Zane Lowe played the song on Beats 1 this morning. thing I really like about being back on Ontario is the diversity of good food. Vancouver has GREAT choice, but it's heavy on the Sushi, Asian and Indian stuff. Banff is a tourist town so not really fair to compare. There aren't the hole in the wall places to get Jerk Chicken, roti, etc. Strangely, same for chicken wings which *suck* in Western Canada but are great around these parts. Now if one of these burrito places could actually made a taco or burrito with flavour I'd actually go. I just *hate* Canadianized food without spice. I love a good hole in the wall Jerk chicken place the kind where the woman looks at me when I say "spicy" and she thinks "whiteboy I'm going to melt your damn soul".

It's Doors Open Toronto weekend. Massey Hall might be interesting to see before it closes for renovation.

Rick C in Oakville

Great Guest Fred TM!
@Boomer, yes with Christine Elliott PC's would have been a shoe in, but they always seem to mess things up along the way.

Irv, if you are ever in Oakville, Kori's Roti shop , or Ranee's Roti might be a stopover for you.

Wel, my Cavs lost. Okay. Cavs in seven. They will win tomorrow and win Sunday. I know this. My Indians won a close 1 to 0 game. That's awesome, but my Orioles and Diamondbacks lost. That's no good. Well, good that my Indians are winning again. My Cavs will win the championship. Remember Cavs in seven. It will happen.

Irv - Yes, I know that when peeps come from Vancouver, Edmonton, etc they esp chow down on all the food they can get because luckily Ontario has such a wonderful selection! Enjoy the pepper, I myself am the worst - no pepper at all, ever, anywhere. I am so glad my parents did settle in Toronto, even if I cannot currently afford to rent, or buy a home here :/ Full of culture, good food, big airport (although the fees suck) and so many concerts!!!!!!!!!! Growing up I'd never have imagined I'd be going to see so many acts perform, but I have a whole bunch slated this year.

Nice for What is definitely going to be bangin! Along with the soca music!

Just a reminder for all Patrons that I'll be emailing you a link to a live chat next Wednesday night at 8pm and you can call in and chat me up just like one of them AM talk radio shows!

And if you're not a Patron but have been thinking about chipping in, this would be a great time to do so!

The food culture in Western Canada is different because the immigration patterns are different. Vancouver tends to draw Asian and Indian immigrants whereas Toronto is more has a higher portion of European & Caribbean stuff. I especially notice it with all things Latino here (or Southern European).

As far as food goods in Alberta, surprisingly Edmonton does pretty well. Edmonton is a strange town. It's a pretty rough city that hides it's charms well. I lived there twice. It has a good choice for food (far superior to Calgary). Calgary's culinary scene has improved a great deal. It's problem is too much of it is expensive and there isn't the hole in the wall diners. Something like breakfast is like 15 bucks and they charge 3 bucks extra for the coffee.

As for Banff, it's a world of food and I tried eating everywhere there. The Banff Ave Brewery actually had good wings. It's easily the best place I've lived on this planet. If you've got the money you can just walk to every restaurant in town after you go canoeing at Vermillion. Here's hoping I return permanently one day, find a "regular computer job" and get old and disappear.

Word on the street is that the provincials Liberals are imminently releasing evidence of new/more PC malfeasance.

May 24, 2018 @ 10:02 AM

Yep, it was on CP24 on Facebook a few minutes ago. It's mostly Ford and something about illegal campaign shit.

Let's be real. They sat on this forever just to burn his ass. And no doubt they're gunning at Ford to take him down. To them likely better Orange wins over Blue. The NDP have nothing on them because they've never been in power hence the "Remember Bob Rae" moments we see so much of it. As if what some guy did a quarter century ago is relevant today. Even Rae admits he fucked up.

Rick C said it best. The Conservatives are masters at picking the wrong leader. They let the right wing bozo side of the party pick it versus the logical people in the party. The PC's need to be blown up and restart.

What we really need is an Ontario party.

May 24, 2018 @ 10:26 AM

@Irv - I have to get out west, someday! I love food, of all kinds. I hope you get to return there soon too

As for DoFo, I just really hope we don't vote him in. I am certainly not, but it troubles me how many people think he is the saving grace for this province.

May 24, 2018 @ 11:09 AM

The only people that imagine Doug Ford is going to be a good leader are a bunch of partisan robot supports who would support him blindly. They're like the type that would support Trump even if he raped a 7 year old girl by saying her halter top was too revealing.

I have almost zero use for politicians, but I find their blind partisan followers worse. They simply lack the ability to rationalize the reality. They blindly turn an eye to the mistakes of their own leader while criticizing the leaders of other parties. That is, to be blunt, as stupid as fucking hell. Nothing worse than the raging lunatics on the left & right forever with their "fake news". I see it on my Facebook feed all the time.

Hey, it beats Brasil though where they once tried to pass a bill making it illegal to investigate..corrupt politicians. The outrage was huge and millions protested (I was there working in Rio at the time). I just wish we'd do that. We won't. We're mostly just social media slack-tivists.

May 24, 2018 @ 3:13 PM

Who would anyone vote for, Curly, Larry or Moe. You vote for your person who has done much for your riding locally.
Losers all & giddy up after June 7th for the $h!t to fall whoever wins.
