Googling a bit, apparently the original version of the song featured clips of him speaking ... but they couldn't get permission to use them on the final album.

Quick Harry Dean Stanton story...

He was always good. Roger Ebert said any move with HDS couldn't be all bad. He was right. Pretty In Pink was a personal favourite of mine.

I once watched "Mr. Warmth: The Don Rickles Project", a great little documentary by John Landis. I knew I was going to have a good time when the doc opened with Harry Dean Stanton singing "Old Blue".

I'd love to find a clip of that.
