Blind Dave

I first heard Dave on the Air farce radio show when I was 10 or 11 years old. I waited every week for his Sgt Renfrew skit, hoping he would do it that week.

RIP, Dave.

Like Blind Dave, I remember hearing the RCAF show on CBC radio. My Dad, in particular, loved the show and would tune in just about anywhere that we were. If we could not hear CBW Winnipeg, CBK on 540 covered just about anywhere that we were in the summer or winter. In the daytime, CBK can easily be heard as far west as Calgary, east across the Ontario border, and south to Nebraska. At night, even farther on the "clear" 540 frequency.

Broadfoot created and did so many characters so well. I watched, irregularly, the Farce on TV for many years, but to me the show became less funny and more gimmicky and predictable about 10-15 years ago. RIP, Dave Broadfoot.

I must have missed this on the news, amidst all the US election jabbering. Sad to hear, but I'm at the age where many of my treasured celebs are leaving us. Air Farce was such a good show, until they tried to keep it going with the young blood infusion, which failed miserably.
