Its amazing to watch Trumps campaign explode. Yesterday says he watched a non-existent video of a cash drop to Iran. Today had to admit he lied.

However you want to see the lengths republicans will go to in order to cheat? Read up on what north carolina did to completely suppress minority voting and for that matter any voters likely to not vote for republicans. Thankfully the supreme court struck their BS down.

Other than that my lawn is dead as I refuse ti water it in this heat. Yet an ahole neighbour is watering his twice a day.. Up to a cottage this weekend to enjoy kawartha lakes region.

I think Mr. Trump is likely having some anxiety issues, realizing he may indeed have a 50/50 chance of becoming the POTUS and is maybe acting in a way that makes sure he does not get the coveted office.

He is probably scarred to death his massive ego will be crushed when all of America and the rest of the world fully confirm that he does not have the intellect capabilities to make rational decisions.

How else do you explain his bizarre behavior and outrageous comments?

Sadly, Clinton is no prize winner either.

I was wondering if you had any insight on real reason why the Geeks and Beats podcast came to an end months ago?

The official reason given was that Michael didn't have the time to focus on the podcast, however it looks like he's now trying to get an online cartoon thing going called 'where's my jackpack' or something along those lines.... Seems like that would take up as much if not more time.

Curiosity is killing this cat...

Two reasons:

1. Unlike my podcast, they did a lot of work in post. It was time consuming. Mine is essentially "live to tape".

2. They soon realized podcasting isn't particularly lucrative.

I think 1 without 2 is fine, because you're putting in lots of time in exchange for money.

And 2 without 1 is fine, because it's a labour of love and you enjoy doing it. (This is where I live.)

But if both 1 and 2 are true, you're in trouble.

I'm not first, but who cares. Anyway, my Orioles lost last night. I have the Rangers in my pool, but I wanted my Orioles to win. Mark Trumbo, Pedro Alvarez and Hyun Su Kim homered for the loss. No good. My Indians won though. I hope they can stay in first. Mike Napoli didn't homer though. He ended his homer streak, but homers were by Jason Kipnis, Carlos Santana and Franky Lindor. Also Braves won over the Pirates, but they're both in my pool.

27, 586 at the Toronto FC game on Wednesday. And nobody complained about the fact that it was a mid-week game or that there was construction, traffic, asteroid, whatever.

Whenever the topic of TFC vs Argos comes up someone always mentions "but Argos TV numbers are great", which I've been thinking about and have come up with a theory.

- Firstly, the demographics of TFC skew younger while Argos skew older. Which of those 2 demographics are more likely to have a traditional cable package? (answer: Older).

- Secondly are young people with cable clamoring to have a PPM box? My guess is not.

- Thirdly, who publishes TV numbers? It's TSN/Bell. The owners of a struggling franchise. You know they will do anything to increase the recognition of their brand (i.e. Propping up TV numbers, handing out free tickets in Liberty Village).

- Fourthly, if by some chance the Argos are as popular as some want us to believe. Then get your lazy ass to the stadium and prove it. No excuses. You have a job? So do the 27k+ at TFC games. Tickets too expensive? The Leafs and Raptors are chuckling.

No point in wading into the Trump debate again. Most people have their alleged minds made up.

In lieu of that if you want non-biased commentary on the Jays listen to Dirk Hayhurst on TSN radio. The guy is freaking hilarious. His take on the Sanchez to the bullpen decision (which the Jays later changed, funnily enough) was awesome. By awesome I mean, he just rips the Jays management a new one in their logic as to why Sanchez HAS to go to the pen. He questions why don't they have the same concern over Stroman (similar age and experience in the pros). Definitely worth a listen if you can get hold of the podcast.

Argie has stated what he thinks of Trump. I'll sum it up.

He doesn't really like him but he doesn't think he would be a disaster since he is all show and wouldn't do the really nutty things he claims on the spur of the moment. But Argie could probably list a lot of other candidates that would be better. Not Hillary though.

I think that's about right.

See, if someone wants to vote for Rob Ford as some kind of strange protest vote, at least the position is relatively powerless. I mean, it's one vote on city council. Toronto's mayor has so very little power.

But the POTUSA, that's different. Talk about a high stakes game of poker! Who wants to risk he is who he claims to be?

How did it go so wrong so quickly.
If the GOP loses this election, they lose the Supreme Court for what could be an entire generation. This is one of the main reasons establishment Republicans are reluctant to withdraw their support for "The Donald". They will eventually relent and withdraw their endorsements, but not in time to save face or their party.
Like with every political party, there are good people within the GOP and it's sad to see them circling the bowl with those who are responsible for this entire debacle, but very few have had the backbone to stand on principle. This could be the beginning of a period of enlightenment for what remains of the Republicans once the dust settles, and that is the only positive that I can see coming out of this shit storm.

And he is no Rob Ford. Rob Ford wanted to be Mayor. Rob Ford wanted to lead. Trump wants to be President but only to be President not to do anything Presidential. It's ego. It's why he doesn't have policies and why his position goes all over the place. He just wants to win.

Indians lost again. That's no good. Chris Gimenez homered for the loss. they better win today. Also Rangers and Braves lost again. I only got half the wins. I need to win all six so I have lots of wins.

She was Senator of New York for 8 years and Secretary of State for 4. She's a very qualified POTUS, even without considering her 8 years as FLOTUS.

August 6, 2016 @ 12:07 PM

The Voice of Reason

@Mike

None of that qualifies her to be President. If she took the high road during this campaign and ran on the issues that the US face today instead of a smear campaign, she may actually have a significant lead in the polls.
Option B is no better than option A in this case. Either way the citizens of the US are going to lose in November.

Totally agree - both are not competent to be pres. of most influential country in the world.
Lesser of 2 evils?? Hillary qualified, you're joking MIke? Any other candidate running with any significance would win by a landslide.

Sorry U.S. neighbours - 4 years of HELL starting in November.

August 6, 2016 @ 1:48 PM

@ andrew

Hillary is qualified. Disagree with her policies but to say an 8 year Senator and a 4 year Secratary of State isn't qualified is ridiculous.
She has more experience than Obama, Bill, W Bush and Reagan did before they took office. Add Harper and Trudeau to that mix as well.
She's qualified.

August 6, 2016 @ 2:09 PM

She's like Pinocchio a puppet pulled by strings. A liar, cheat & hasn't got the B@lls to run a country without support from someone to aid her.

I cannot compare Obama with Hillary. Experience is what will be her letdown. I've had a few high positions within my company, did OK but does that make me a candidate for Pres. of my workplace. NO.

There are NO CHOICES here - BOTH are losers but got to take the lesser of 2 evils.

I'm not joking. I think she's definitely qualified to be POTUSA.

Like McNulty said, she's far more qualified than many recent presidents, including Obama and her husband.

If she was a man, I doubt you'd make such a ridiculous statement.

August 6, 2016 @ 2:43 PM

andrew

@ Mike

Gender is not at all in question with my statements. Are you commenting on this because the other option is much worse? Obama & her husband may have had not experience but had the demeanor & trust of the American people. Hillary doesn't have it.
What has she done overall as member of the Senate or Secretary of State? How many Americans even know she had these positions?

August 6, 2016 @ 4:18 PM

Cheryl

Well, my Orioles lost. That was no good. Chris Tillman lost his fourth game because he didn't have it and my Diamondbacks lost as well. Indians won though. Corey Kluber pitched a good game. Mike Napoli homered again so he only went two days without a homer. Also homers by Jason Kipnis and Rajai Davis. Andrew Miller pitched lights out in the end. I also got wins from the Rangers, Pirates and Braves so I got four wins in my pool. I'm in last place though. It sucks. Mike is on top, then John, Bill and me. It sucks. I don't like Mike so I don't want him to win, but I added it up and he's on top. I need six wins today. I hope I get it.

Well, how about those Orioles. Manny Machado had a great day, three homers and also Chris Davis and JJ Hardy each hit one. Dylan Bundy is turning out to be a great pitcher. My Diamondbacks also won with another Jake Lam homer. Who doesn't like Jake Lam. He's great. I also got wins from the Rangers, Pirates and Braves, but my Indians lost. That was no good. They couldn't hit. I am still last place in the pool which sucks. I hope I do better in the football pool.

I know, but people change. I now like baseball. My Orioles didn't do very well last night though. Another loss. That is no good. Manny Machado homered though which was good. Anyway, my Diamondbacks didn't play last night. I got two pool wins though from the Rangers and Braves. Maybe the Braves are going to start winning a bunch and that will sure help. I got some mail from fricken Rogers again. It wasn't a bill, thank goodness and if it was, I wouldn't pay it or anything. I just wish they would cut out the junk mail. I don't need it.

I've talked a lot of shit about TFC vs Argos (I'm a TFC fan) in terms of popularity and game attendance.

This Friday Argos play at home at 7:30pm
Next week Saturday Argos play at home at 4:00pm.

Let's see what you got. Prime days at prime times.

August 9, 2016 @ 1:34 PM

Sid_V

Winnipeg is not exactly a prime draw for the Argos. Ticats game in September is a much better indicator of potential - after Labour Day (CFL attendance is always better in fall) and divisional rival.

Peanut gallery will keep taking their shots in the meantime though. So have at'er.

August 9, 2016 @ 1:54 PM

Wally

I don't buy it.

You have to cherry pick marquee games to make a point? TFC had 27k vs Real Salt Lake (not a sexy team). Thats like waiting until the Leafs play the Habs then saying how popular the leafs are.

Best indicator of a successful franchise is how they do against the nobodies of the league.

August 9, 2016 @ 2:13 PM

Barry

@ Wally

Yeah, but Salt Lake is in Utah. That's polygamy country. If their players travel with their wives they can fill half a stadium on their own.

August 9, 2016 @ 2:21 PM

Sid_V

@Wally, and arbitrarily deciding that a CFL game against Winnipeg in August as the be-all and end-all indicator of popularity is valid? OK, then. How are those TV ratings going?

August 9, 2016 @ 2:59 PM

Toronto Mike Verified as the defacto Toronto Mike

I'm just going to chime in here as a guy with similar admiration for TFC and Argos. I'm not a big fan of either, and only watch on TV if it's the playoffs...

Yes, CFL gets solid TV ratings. Yes, TFC gets awful TV ratings. There may be a variety of reasons for this, who really knows, as it's all based on people wearing PPM devices and watching on their television sets. I've never really trusted this system, but it's the best system we have.

Attendance, however, is an actual metric you can count on. Without a doubt, TFC is blowing the Argos out of the water here. On a weeknight in the heat, TFC will draw 28k whilst the Argos won't do half of that. Right now, it's no contest.

So Argos fans can point to national CFL ratings all they want, but if there are in fact Argos fans in this city, they may want to buy a ticket and trek over to BMO for a game. In my very unscientific poll of friends and family, there is nobody who would go to an Argos game with me if I provided the ticket. Yet I have many friends who pay real cash for TFC tickets at BMO. Anecdotally, TFC seems to be more popular than the Argos in this city, and not just in Liberty Village.

So please, Argos boosters, stop pointing to TV ratings as some kind of proof the Argos are popular in Toronto when all other evidence suggests the contrary. Get your asses to BMO and prove the TFC supporters wrong.

August 9, 2016 @ 3:12 PM

Wally

Average league attendance for Toronto FC in 2016 is 27,425 over 11 home games.

First Argo fans complained about construction, then the indy setup, then mid-week games. Now the complaint is that the Argos are playing against an inferior team that won't attract fans.

Make up your mind.

You are absolutely right about TV numbers. But what about streaming? Does the CFL have a streaming service? Can you buy TSN as an online only package? Of course not.

TFC at the very least can be seen legally through MLS Live and illegally through various websites online. Which demographic is more likely to be tech-savvy enough to stream their games? My guess is not the Argos crowd.

So who owns PPM boxes? Are the younger generation gathering at each other's houses with red cups full of beer so that they can have their viewing habits tracked? Are they sending each other Snapchats of their application to get a box from Numeris? Funny.

You're argument about TV ratings show that the Argos biggest problem is their aging demographics. Those more likely to stay home. The "real" fans.

August 9, 2016 @ 3:17 PM

Wally

@Barry

I lol'd.

August 9, 2016 @ 3:22 PM

Neil Clarke Warren

@ Wally

This Friday Argos play at home at 7:30pm
Next week Saturday Argos play at home at 4:00pm.

The Argos better hope that Dick & The Weeds
And
Erma & The Ennams
Are Not playing at Ontario place at the same dates and times or there
the will be 20,000 20 to 30 year old Liberty Village coolies walking past BMO field saying
"I wonder whots going on there tonight" ?

20-30 Liberties,There target fans...

August 9, 2016 @ 3:48 PM

Barry

Two questions:

1. Is a CFL team viable as a TV-revenue driven team, independent of gate revenue?

2. Is an MLS team viable as a gate-driven team?

3. Are the streaming options for MLS games lucrative, and lucrative enough to make up for any deficiencies in TV ratings?

My guess is that the answer to all three questions is no, but I'm not certain.

I do think that both teams have a problem. I suspect that the Argos' situation is far more serious, especially given the way the ownership structures of both leagues work.

August 9, 2016 @ 4:24 PM

Barry

Also, I can count. Apparently I can't remember to go back and edit after I change my number of questions.

August 9, 2016 @ 4:25 PM

Wally

@Barry

Earlier this year there was a Keith Urban concert going on at the Amphitheatre at the same time as a TFC game.

Good thing on a Venn diagram those 2 demographics don't intersect.

------

Re: Gate vs TV driven profits

I am obviously biased but you can't argue optics. It's one thing to have a press release saying TV numbers are big and another actually seeing a large number of fans together. TSN being the exclusive rights holder will obviously pump that league up and promote the crap out of it. This is why CFL games are on 4 channels at once.

Remember that TSN pumped up a league for over two decades with 4-person panels and high exposure. You do that with ANY product you bet viewership will be high.

August 9, 2016 @ 4:42 PM

Well, I had a good night in my pool last night. I got five out of six, but the one loss I got was the Orioles. They lost again which sucks. Adam Jones hit a home run though. Indians played a great game. Trevor Bauer pitched well again. Also Rangers won. Well, they have Lucroy now which helps them a lot. All my NL teams won. Zac Grienke wins again for my Diamondbacks. Braves and Pirates also won so only my Orioles lost. Otherwise it would have been a great night.

August 10, 2016 @ 8:05 AM

I listen to Q107 at work as only station I can receive decently which is OK.
They have a contest 3 times/day - Cash Grab. Questions for $50 then $100, $250, $ 500 & then $1000. You can keep what you have won or go on & if you lose, you lose everything. Only 5 seconds to answer questions.

Ex. last while - $50 questions are very simple - what do the letters ACC where the Leafs & Raptors play stand for - answer Air Conditioning Centre. #2 Who on the Blue Jays won MVP last year in MLB, plays 3rd base & is the bringer of rain - answer I don't know (a male). # 3 what 2 primary colours make the colour green - answer red & blue. # 4 what are the colours of the AMERICAN flag - answer red & white.

$1000 question last week & he went for it - Albert Einstein, what county was he born in & he answered Germany (correct). Participant then said he was born in Germany & Einstein is beloved there.

Cannot beleive answers with some people. Do they live under a rock & have no clue?
My comedy for the week.

Another win and that was one of the only two wins I got. The Rangers won my other pool win. Indians lost again. That was not good. Franky Lindor homered in the losing cause though. Also the Braves and Pirates lost.
