I know this is about Maureen O'Hara but by gosh that John Candy was a likable fellow. The kind of guy you would root for. 'Get the girl.' 'Get the job.' 'Get the prize.'

Thank you. I have just added this movie to my list in Netflix. "Only the Lonely" may not immediately come to mind when thinking of John Candy (1950-1994), but seeing him with Maureen O'Hara (one of Hollywood's last real stars) made this film a "must watch again" for me. John Candy comedies are truly timeless.

As a frequent patron of the original Second City cast at the Old Fire Hall way back in the late 70's, I recently made a point of reading Martin Short's excellent memoir, "I Must Say", and Andrea Martin's "Lady Parts". Their reflections on John, the friend they lost too soon, are beautiful. He was a truly remarkable man, both on and off screen.
