My Relationship With #11

Throughout my life, if it was possible to wear #11, I wore #11.

In 1984, a young George Bell hit 26 dingers for my Blue Jays. I was hooked. George Bell became my guy, and George Bell wore #11. The rest, is history.

Piranhas Slo-Pitch

Olli Jokinen has chosen #11 for his short stint with the Leafs. I just like seeing that number out there on the ice.

My oldest son has adopted the number has his go-to number for baseball and hockey. I never asked him to, but I'm glad he did.

I chose #11 (aka George Bell) for another reason. I used to get those $1 (or was it $2) tickets from Dominion. And so sitting in the bleachers at Exhibition Stadium meant that the closest player to me was the left fielder. He's been my favourite baseball player of all time since those early days. I loved his fiery attitude and passion; his hitting prowess, his MVP season and his catch in left field to seal the AL East way back when.

Why would anyone idolize George Bell? He was the biggest a-hole in Toronto sorts history.

My number was 9...when russ courtnall was a leaf, he was my favourite leaf/player..once he got traded to the Hab's it was 6.. I wore 69 in HS football and ball hockey for this reason or 96 when 69 was avail.. I became a Hab fan then as well,until I stopped watching hockey after that first strike. Now I'm firmly seated on the leaf wagon and I have no reason why..

@karim kanji

I believe the $2 bleacher seats were $1 through Dominion. I also saw many games from there...

twins from bolton

Both my kids played Rep Baseball in Bolton & wore # 19 & the other # 91. When they stood side by side - 1991,
the year they were born. They thought of this themselves many years ago. When I played any sport it was # 7.
