Lesley Gore, Dead at 68

Lesley GoreLesley Gore was 68. She was the singer who topped the charts in 1963 with her epic song of teenage angst, "It's My Party," and followed it up with the hits "Judy's Turn to Cry" and "You Don't Own Me."

And who could forget her "Sunshine, Lollipops and Rainbows" bellowing from Ruth Powers's car in The Simpsons episode "Marge on the Lam."

I loved Leslie Gore. Her songs were go to songs when you broke up with a boyfriend. We all had her 45's. Great tear jerkers.

I grew up in NJ near her and knew the words to every song she sung. I had a flip hair style , like her too. I saw her perform in Nov. 2014 on an oldies cruise and she was great. I am truly saddened by her passing.

Great music which sends us back to a simpler time. 68 is pretty young by my standards .
