Terry Cashman's "Talkin' Baseball (10 Years with the Jays)"

Terry Cashman's Last night, I watched the Baltimore Orioles clinch the AL East division with a win against my Blue Jays. That got me thinking back to better days when we clinched the division. Specifically, '85, '89, '91, '92 and '93.

In 1986, the Blue Jays celebrated their tenth anniversary. To commemorate the event, Terry Cashman of "Talkin' Baseball (Willie, Mickey & The Duke)" fame made a Blue Jays version of the song. It's fun to hear the old names again.

As awesome as this is, Terry Cashman would outdo himself again with "Talkin' Softball", his song for Homer at the Bat in season three.

Nice find!! I knew that Cashman wrote songs for each MLB team back in the day but could never find the Blue Jays' version. He did a good job without much material to work with at the time. I thought that Barfield was more of a slugger than Moseby, but still this song is good fun. Makes me want to find the lyrics for my steroid-era version of this song... Good times.

Starting in '83, I listened to every Jays game on the radio every night before sleep.

Barfield was more of a slugger than Moseby, and he hit 40 in '86!

He also had a cannon for an arm: http://www.torontomike.com/2008/02/jesse_barfield_a_cannon_for_an.html

I think that's what sparked my search actually. Mission accomplished... Congrats Mike.

Well, the best team won the last three nights. The team that is going to win the World Series, the Baltimore Orioles. That's the team to cheer for. They're the best.
