So I went Down-town on Saturday and tried Swing Dancing for the first time....It was fun, seriously! It's not something I would have tired without having my arm twisted, but I'm glad I went.

So I'm at my nieces place last night having a camp fire and she mentions that the fords have there cottage on the lake across the road . Weird and annoying got her. Dozens of float planes landing , taking off and corking the area all summer . Normally a very quiet area , media trying to snoop on rob probably .

Deer lake in case you were wondering , my sister moved not far from deer lake in 1970 and we've been lucky enough to have been hanging around all weekend at her place . My niece is lucky enough to have a house about 100 meters from deer lake . We lucky except for the ford thing I guess ..

Speaking of Ashley Madison (above)
which I've never had anything to do with
I will say
that one does learn from certain mistakes
and one should always aim
for truthfulness
otherwise the cleanup
is worse
than the mess.

Too funny...

Jono formerly from Toronto

I just got back from my yearly summer trip back to TO with the kids. This year I took them to centreville - first time I've been there in a couple decades.

The scrambler was still there - which was great to introduce them to... but it's different from my youth. They used to kill the lights right away, and had a lot of black light which highlighted the eye paintings in the middle, and any white that was worn. Now the lights stay on for the first half, and once the lights are killed there are some smaller colored spot lights in the area, and no black light.

Also - it seems that they no longer have the chair lift ride, that took you to the edge of the island and then back.

We still had a great time there, but I came back curious... does anyone know when these changes were made to the park, and why?

Well, this open Mike is finally here. Anyway, Orioles are going to win tonight over the Jays and Diamondbacks over Royals. Yes, it will happen. Orioles and Diamondbacks to the World Series. Well, Diamondbacks will win the rest of their games to make it. Yes, Bob Seger is really the King.

I hate tennis but when 3 of each ranked men & women are playing on our home soil & will watch just because.

2 of each men & women are now out of Rogers Cup in singles losing in 1st round.

Bouchard & Pospisil losing in the 1st round?

Milos playing tomorrow as our only hope left.
TOO MUCH PRESSURE by those who lost today.

Jays losing also, big time.

Time to turn back the clock.

Anybody watch the CBS show Reign? On my way to Waterdown the other day and on a farm (I would love to own) I see a bunch of coloured tents and banners. As I drive by a sign says "film crew" and "Reign". I look back in my rear view and catch a peak of Torrance Coombs on horseback. I think?

Mayor Fennel and Former Premier Redford are showing us that women politicians can be lying, corrupt slimeballs just like their male counterparts. Isn't that great!

@Argie

I doubt anyone regards corruption as a male monopoly.

Well, that was a great game last night. Orioles are my American League team. I'm so glad I got into baseball. I could have just ignored that gift. Anyway, the Orioles are great. They won because they're the best. They know how to win games. Orioles are going to win tonight and tomorrow night and then beat the Cardinals over the weekend and beat the Yankees. They can beat anyone because they're the best and they will win the World Series. My Diamondbacks on the other hand got clobbered. I don't want to talk about them today because it looks like they won't be in the World Series. It will be Orioles and someone else, not sure who and it will go four or five with Orioles winning big time. Baseball playoffs won't go seven games. As for tennis, I like playing, but not watching. I think I still like playing baseball better than listening even though I'm into it now. Go Orioles.

Ford Nation is essentially nihilistic. emptying. against. not full of
hope or positive action.
Just against stuff.

He saved me a billion dollars.
Okay. where is it?
What do you mean?
Show me the billion dollars he saved you.
Well you can't see money.
Oh.

Show me what he did for you. Something beautiful. Helpful.
Something wonderful you can touch. Feel. Share.

It's not there because it's nihilism. or Nothingness.

Every example you give me will be abstract and soulless.

August 6, 2014 @ 6:41 PM

Cheryl

I would prefer not to talk about this game. It sucks. At least so far it does. My Orioles are napping. Just a home run by Chris Davis, that's it. It's awful and the Jays are winning. Oh well, Orioles will still win the World Series. I just know they will, but I think they'll lose tonight.

I was a 100%er but I'm done with Humble and Fred. Hearing them praise Ashley Madison is sad and disheartening.

Anything for a dollar I guess. They've lost this longtime fan because of it.

Dear Anonymous,

What exactly is the problem with Ashley Madison sponsoring them?

I've felt I'm "done" with them for a variety of reasons time and time again, but they keep pulling me back with great interviews. Today's with Scott Reid was just fantastic.

I cringed when I heard they got Ashley Madison as a sponsor, but their justification was pretty solid, and along lines I agree with. I thought them addressing the hypocrisy of media talking about them, interviewing them, but not taking their advertising dollars was a major selling point and 100% reasonable.

August 6, 2014 @ 11:14 PM

Gargamel

Sure, if you buy the idea that the women advertising are on there because "life is short."

I'm depressed. I don't know what to do. My Orioles lost. Chen didn't have it last night. Wei Yin Chen is supposed to be a good pitcher and he is, but he didn't have it and he lost the game. Just one home run by Chris Davis, that's it. Poor Orioles losing 5 to 1. do we really have to talk about this awful game. Also my diamondbacks lost to the Royals. No good. My trainer apparently saw the Jays game and he emailed me just rubbing it in, that's all. Anyway, just feel like hiding in a hole. I need my Orioles and diamondbacks to win.

@markosaar

They almost lost me with all the spa promotion.

But this Ashley Madison love-in for the almighty dollar is too much. It's all about cheating on your "monogamous" partner and the problem there is that it

a) promotes dishonesty
b) likely results in someone getting hurt
c) is like offering a drunk a beer instead of helping them kick the habit

If you have to cheat, be honest with your partner to either fix what's broken or leave your partner. Don't go to Ashley Madison.

And stop listening to Humble and Fred so they get the message.

@Anonymous

Let me completely plagiarize @markosaar's earlier comment, "I cringed when I heard they got Ashley Madison as a sponsor, but their justification was pretty solid, and along lines I agree with. I thought them addressing the hypocrisy of media talking about them, interviewing them, but not taking their advertising dollars was a major selling point and 100% reasonable." My thoughts exactly.

You seem to want to deal in absolutes, my friend. Life is not kind to absolutes. People are not going to cheat because Ashley Madison told them to. People cheat for millions of reasons - all valid - to them. I'll guarantee there are people in your immediate circle of family and friends guilty of extra-marital shenanigans. And it has nothing to do with Ashley Madison. Or you.

I too cringed when I initially heard Ashley Madison was a sponsor. I listened to the rationale with an open mind. I also listened to Noel's stance on things and thought no more of it.

My take away from yesterday's episode had nothing to do with Ashley Madison. It's not my thing. And I don't judge other people if it's their thing. I absolutely loved Scott Reid's interview and will definitely have to listen to it again (because I was doing a few other things while listening - and it's likely I didn't hear it all).

Boycotting H&F ain't going to stop anyone interested in a recreational bang-athon
with someone other than their spouse/partner. Maybe this keeps more marriages together - who knows. More importantly, who gives a shit?

I got a pretty sharply worded response back yesterday from Fred when I sent them an email about what I thought of Ashley Madison (which was eerily similar to Anonymous' comment). I understand they address it on today's show. I'll be interested in hearing what they have to say.

Well, a month from tomorrow and my Arizona Cardinals start their football season, but the first game is very late so will have to miss it. The others may conflict with baseball. Oh well, do I want to listen to baseball or football on Sunday afternoons. Well, it was an easy decision since I didn't have baseball, but I am beginning to really like it. The web site is great. There is a link to pause the game, a link to turn the volume up and a link to turn it down so I don't have to worry about Jaws and the game at the same volume. Baseball is okay, but then I bought my Arizona Cardinals pass. Well, hmm. Hard decision, but my Cardinals will win the Superbowl and my Orioles will win the World Series. Orioles will win tonight. They really really should.

August 7, 2014 @ 4:43 PM

Cheryl

Orioles won. Boy, that was a slow game though. Great they held on to win it 2 to 1 with Caleb Joseph hitting that two-run homer. that was so awesome. Orioles are awesome and be ready for them to win the World Series. that game had lots of fouling off pitches. Not a fast game. Oh well, they will beat the Cardinals this weekend. My diamondbacks lost again though. They got swept. Why can't they win.
