Squiggly-porn?

April 23, 2014 @ 5:51 PM

Mike from Lowville

Judging by the 4.3 aspect ratio I'd say CBC on the rabbit ears, 1967 Leafs playoffs! ;0)

I'm going with scrambled porn on First Choice or SuperChannel ;)
Ah, being 13 again.

Cheers,
Andrew

I can't tell you how many hours of scrambled porn I'd watch on First Choice / Superchannel back in the day.

LOL - if working at Granada TV taught me anything after 10 years.......if you had one of those old wired Jerrold push button cable boxes and clipped the ground wire......you had free access (unscrambled)to all of the pay channels for a while :)

Built a few descramblers in the early 80's, always a bugger to tune. Never saw a bunch of teenage boys get so excited when you would get it locked for about 10 seconds, then all their dreams dashed when it would immediately go back to scrambled.

I wonder how many boys got excited by a possible nipple shot when in fact it was the tip of a penis?

But who didn't love squiggly-porn? Every once in a while it almost looked like real TV. Just green.

Ah...squggly porn. How I've missed you

I have a feeling a couple of keywords in the comments here brought a specific ad up for me. First time I've ever bought something from an ad on torontomike.com ... maybe from any online ad?

Thank you Durex!

Too funny.
It's sort of sad I instantly recognized that image.

@ 519

Not sad.. perfectly normal. That's what being 13 was all about, wasn't it? Not so sure about today's kids - access to whole lot more than what we had too creatively search out for. Not as much work as in the past and timing. It was all about timing ;)

Cheers,
Andrew

@Andrew
I agree about the access that kids have. Its frightening, really.
I have a 16yr old that I know has watched porn for a few years now.
I want him to access to technology (ipod touch, computer, cell phone) but at what cost? I can only block/lock these things so long.
And if he doesn't watch it here, I know he'll watch it elsewhere.

For me at that age, it was scrambled porn and the occasional peak into my Dads dirty mags.

In the 80s, we worked very hard for our porn, so we appreciated it.

We watched scrambled pay-per-view, we found old Playboys, we shared video cassettes... it was a lot of work.

Today, porn is effortless to find. Teens today will never understand our plight.

@ 519 and Toronto Mike

Yes... totally agree. My son just turned 10 and I'm sure we'll be having a chat in two years or so. I'm not sure the porn of today is screwing up kids' expectations on reality. Hopefully they have good heads on their shoulders and can tell the difference between 'fantasy' and normal healthy relationships.

I think you need to see what he's accessing - remind him of expectations you have in regards as to how he should treat women.

The old dirty mags of Playboy, Penthouse or Hustler (dirty, dirty Hustler) seem tame compared to what's out there today. Perhaps I should do my own 'research' to make sure I can properly guide my son in the coming years. ;)

I'm not really sure how I'm going to handle the first time my wife tells me my son is missing socks ;)

Cheers,
Andrew

@Mike & Andrew
I skipped the 'porn is wrong chat'. Figured he's gonna watch anyway.
But I focused on the 'that's not REAL sex' chat.
Sure, we all occasionally have porn-star sex. But lets face facts. Usually its 'vanilla' between 2 people that love each other. I tried to reinforce the fact that he's getting the wrong idea about sex, and that the first real girlfriend he has isn't gonna want to do what he sees in most of these videos.

I recommend that everyone should start watching Surviving Jack...it is effectively "That 90's Show" and it's great. Jack catches his teenage son with a porn mag and he says

"2 things. 1) no woman who looks like that is ever going to sleep with you...ever!...accept it. 2) Women don't really have sex like that in real life."

Great advice!

@Phily Bob
I caught an episode of that show a week or two again and found myself laughing a lot. Christopher Meloni (most will remember him from Law and Order SVU) is really good in it.
I also really recommend The Goldbergs (basically that 80s show, but really funny).
