More Photos of Rome

Sightseeing in Rome: Le mie fotoToday I hit up some more Rome landmarks and visited the sovereign city-state of Vatican City. Remember when you'd visit your aunt and she'd make you sit down and watch a slideshow presentation of the pictures she took in Rome? This is like that only you can scroll down really fast or skip this entry altogether.

Here are some more photos of Rome to complement the pictures I took yesterday.

That last pic is of Largo di Torre Argentina where the assassination of Julius Caesar took place on the Ides of March in 44 BC. Today it's a no-kill shelter for homeless cats and we saw many.

Over 100 slides from Uncle Mike's visit to Rome can be found here.

Awesome photo's Mike!

Definitely a city on the bucket list.

Enjoy the Vatican, even as a non-religious guy I'd love to visit it one day.

Your walk to St. Peter's Basilica is ripe with street vendors and others trying to extract a sucker from his/her money. I've got a rant on this I'm saving for a podcast or entry or something... it's really annoying.

Then you've got this big pretty church (as seen above)... a religious experience for the faithful no doubt, but just another old beautiful building in Europe for the rest of us. I preferred St. Patrick's in Dublin.

There's history and photogenic scenes at every turn in Rome, much as there was in Paris. It's been sunny and warm every day and the food has been amazing. Coming from Amsterdam where the food always disappoints me, this has been heaven.

It's bedtime for me... we walked 17km today and have a jam-packed day planned for tomorrow. Buonanotte!

The vendors are just par for the course. Have you ever gone to any of the Caribbean islands? They're everywhere!

What a country... and sorry Mike, nothing compares to the Vatican. Its not just some old building but a work of art at every corner.

We went to Il Pizzaiuolo yesterday!

We were checking out the market there and it's pretty close to the room we're renting.

Excellent pizza! My wife had pasta and was very happy.

Very nice spot...
